Now that I've run it a bit I did find an oil leak from the gaskets on the mechanical fuel lift pump. So I'll be having a future video on changing those out. But no oil pan gasket leak just yet.

Like the series, keep up the good work! Thinking about getting 59 hundred pounds of my own bad idea! Do you, by chance, have a list of the parts you were able to source outside AM General? I understand there are variations depending on model etc.

I have been keeping a list of everything I've bought for rebuilding the truck and I've been trying to include PN's in the video or comments. H1's are the same way too in that while they were sold under license by GM, they have parts from old Ford trucks and even the Mustang. At some point I'd like to get a website up and running and list everything I've found out.

Unless I missed it, looks like you didn't put a rivet in the weep hole on the top. If you didn't, have you noticed any issues? I moved the rivet from my old to new water pump, but it was a loose fit so I'm wondering if I should get a new one. Also, for anybody preparing for this job... I bought one of the 6 mL tubes thinking it said 6 oz, had to buy a second one; I'd recommend buying the 50 mL tube instead.

I skipped the rivet in the water pump weep hole as I didn't foresee doing any water fording and the need to keep debris out of there. Plus keeping it open would retain the ability to see if the pump was starting to have the seal go bad.
For Loctite 518, I bought the 50 mL tube as the same sealant is also used on the geared hub covers, which I cover in another video. Amazon had the best price on it that I found.

I wanted to ask you a technical question. How often does the water pump on a Hummer H1 like mine from 2004 need to be changed? How many miles must the vehicle have travelled? I would like to understand . Thank you

If it is the original pump, it is now 20 years old, so age may be more of an issue than mileage. But there are a lot of factors for if the pump is bad.
How does the coolant look: fresh or rusty? Corrosion can damage the pump seals.
Is the truck overheating or having other cooling system issues?
Is there coolant coming out of the weep hole? The weep hole is a small hole in the casting just behind the pulley. A drip from here indicates that the pump seal is going out and is meant to provide a warning before the pump seal fails completely.

About the Srews of the waterpump reassembly at 13:13, how much Nm is required to screw them in? I cant find that Information. Thank you!

TM 9-2815-237-34, pg 2-171, lists 18 to 27 Nm for those bolts.
