Thank you! I am a guitarist and am new to Logic Pro. I've always been a bit mystified by compressors - this is the most articulate, cogent description I have seen. Good job!
By the way, your vocals and harmonies and lyrics touch my soul. That means you are onto something. Not because I am anyone-simply, because I know beautiful music. And you have a beautiful voice. I realized that when I heard you in Acappella.
Nice educational video. As a point of note setting the ratio of a compressor to 3:1 means that for every 3dB above the threshold the signal only rises by 1dB .
This is the most concise explanation of compression I’ve found! I will be referring to your channel for future Logic tutorials. Female music producers are simply elite 💅🏻
I really wanna thank you for explaining this so simply and just making it easy to digest. I’ve been a having a tough time with compression for a minute now but after watching this video, I’m definitely going to have an easier time going forward and more confident as well. Thank you
Hey I wanted to thank you. For 2 years ive been trying to understand attack and release in compression and your explanation finally got me there. you are a good teacher. There is only a few people i listen to about logic pro and you are one of them now thanks again!
this was so much help!! I've gotten so frustrated trying to understand producing my vocals and this made compression SO much clearer thank you thank you thank you
after watching thousands videos about compression... i finally found this ONE video that explains everything and understood how it works. thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG! I've been looking for this exact video for MONTHS! Today is my lucky day! Thank you so much for explaining it in a way that I actually understand!
I honestly zoom by so many videos and you manage, imo, to explain things so clearly. I felt like it was an eli5 and i was able to not only copy a preset but understand better :) thank you
Thank you sooooo much for explaining this Valentina, you are such a blessings, the world is a better place with you. I have learnt a lot from your channel, and i pray that God may reward you for me and thanks for not being selfish with your skills. I have now got 2 free months of skill share what a blessing. God bless youuuuuuuuuuuuu!
Just earned a new SUB ! Working on Compressor with talented sound engineer and decided to learn from scratch on my own, very well explained and by the way you’re R&B vibe is incredible @ValentinaBilancieri ❤️
You're such a great instructor! I've taken a few Engineering classes and I still can't get my vocals right. This helped me especially in the DAW we both use. Thank you for all the gems! I'll release better music yet! Lol
Just wanna let you know you're freakin awesome and super helpful and have a great positive attitude. You rock and thank you for making it so easy to learn and thank you for you.
I'm so grateful to have found your channel. 🥰 You are truly inspirational and good at what you do. I've been watching you for a couple months now and thanks to you and a couple of other youtubers, but mainly and mostly you, I was almost able to completely mix a song of my own for the 1st time since I started my professional career in 2016. Keep it up! Love the videos and your music you make too!!💯💗 also I'd love to see more of these specifically for vocals like all about EQ, reverb, etc esp w stock plugins
It’s like having a whole team of hands on the volume pot of the vocals turning up and down to keep the listening experience to max enjoyment. Stereo versus dual mono is an interesting tool.
Valentina... u are one of the dopest! Thank you for all the informational videos... learned a lot from them. You’re a dope producer & talented all around artist! Much love & Respect!
Thank you thank you so much this is really going to help I just started using logic pro x and I couldn't figure out how to make my vocals clear and crisp and at good volume thank you
Great style and production! You’re a natural. Maybe the best tutorial on compression I’ve heard in 20 years. BTW - The grade 4 playing by ear is familiar to me.
Needing to edit out a fart from vocals is when you know you’re getting the hang of recording local artists. Rosetta 8 channel pre amp adat digital interface gave me the best results at studio 33 circa 2007
This video is awesome thank you! And I love that is uses a female singer... so many tutorials use male rapping and it's just not the same! I'm curious to know what your tips are for vocals with extreme volume differences? For instance singing in falsetto and then belting shortly after. It doesn't sound natural to adjust the gain for each and I'm struggling to compress vocals like this properly haha.
I've had situations where I wanted different effects between the chorus & verses. What I did was duplicate the lead vocal track. Then delete the verses on one, and delete the chorus on the other. If you do that with the falsetto parts, you can compress them separately. Keep the falsetto parts on a separate track from the other parts. Simple cuts between them would allow you to do that. Cut both tracks at the same time, so the cuts are even between the two tracks.
I’m going to be very honest for you. Your first song on logic or on any Daw is gonna suck really bad. But once u get the hang of it you’ll get the sound you’re looking for 💯
Thx for this! 2 quick questions - If super-fast attack is desirable, why not just drop it all the way down to 0 ms? And what level are you aiming for on your output from each compressor; peaking around -6dB?
I hope this helps you! Also....the first 1000 people who click the link will get 2 free months of Skillshare Premium: skl.sh/valentinabilancieri5

I tried buying your stock vocals didn’t work for me
How do you activate the 3 bus channels? They loaded properly but mine aren't reading any signal during playback....any help there? Thanks!
rus martin youll want to make sure you turn the volume send knobs to the right of the bus. That determines how much of the signal is being bused out.
the first and only youtube video to ever to explain compression
Best and simplest explanation on compressors I’ve ever seen
Thank you! I am a guitarist and am new to Logic Pro. I've always been a bit mystified by compressors - this is the most articulate, cogent description I have seen. Good job!
Great video . Just one correct . The ratio works the other way round . For every 3 dB above the threshold the compressor will give you 1dB .
the best youtube channel for artists creating their own music. such a queen.
By the way, your vocals and harmonies and lyrics touch my soul. That means you are onto something. Not because I am anyone-simply, because I know beautiful music. And you have a beautiful voice. I realized that when I heard you in Acappella.
thank you so much since I'm following your videos I'm really learning things I never understood before!
