I’m honored and grateful to finally be able to witness his genius at the Greek Theatre in mid September this year! He is such a prolific writer and poet that I forget about beautiful, hidden gems like this one sometimes. I’ve had this song on a loop for the past few days and while I should include more variety in my playlist…It’s too late to stop now!
BELFAST IS A SYMBOL OF THE COMING CHRISTIAN PARADISE - WHERE NEIGHBOURS HATE ONE ANOTHER. SO VAN MUMBLES AT INTERVIEWS AND AVOIDS PARTIES............................
This is a rare live version of one of my favorite Van tunes. The studio version of this song wasn’t released until Philosophers Stone came out many years later.
There was a version recorded later for the soundtrack to the 1982 Martin Scorsese movie The King of Comedy. That version is on The Best of Van Morrison, his first greatest hits compilation. It's a nice version, but I like the Philosopher's Stone version better. It's amazing that such a great song sat around that long, like a lot of the other stuff on Philosopher's Stone.
ANOTHER POWERFULLY ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE FROM THE ALWAYS VERSATILE AND SUPREMELY GIFTED VOCALIST, MUSICIAN AND COMPOSER, VAN MORRISON -- LOVE ❤️ EVELYN O'CONNOR
Once a real rarity among collectors, this is a great song. I saw this band twice - it was such a change from the full splendour of the Caledonia Soul Orchestra, so much more spare. Thank you, great stuff.
Marshall Tavern, Inn of the Beginning in Cotati, the Great American Music Hall, the New Orleans House in Berkeley, Palace of Fines Arts, Greek Theater in Berkeley, Berkeley Community Center, Oakland Coliseum (with the Stones), to name a few. and John Alair gave me back stage passes so I could see him in Vancouver. It's been a good ride. Thank you Van.
@wtburns01 yea he does still sound pretty solid just the other night at robbie Robertson memorial,he performed days like this, wonderful remark and tupelo honey
Wow...Genial esta canción me encanta un mundo, y con el talento de Van Morrison el nivel musical es superior...Saludos cordiales desde San José, Barquisimeto-Venezuela...!
He actually wrote it in 1969! There's a studio version recorded in 1973 that's on The Philosopher's Stone, a great collection of previously unreleased songs.
@@mr.jazzbo2669 ~ Very familiar with Phil's Stone. Got some good stuff on it, but there are better bootleg versions of a few of them. Like "Crazy Jane on God" and "For Mr Thomas" for instance. "Sense of Blue", a mid-1980s vinyl bootleg comprised of several live cuts from the UK, contains killer live versions of both. The "Mr Thomas" live cut is slower than any other I've heard ~ and much better.
News of this soundtrack and only appearance of Robbie Robertson's "Between Trains" finally reaching CD (for those of U.S. without turntables). Arguably a great songwriter's existential masterpiece, only more relevant as our current presidential choices attest. These are the End Times! (always is for some creature or other, mebbe U.S.?) That KING OF COMEDY soundtrack also has another great songwriter's under-used masterpiece, Van Morrison's "Wonderful Remark." He deserves more recognition as a poet, not just as a singer and not just as a composer.
Thank you again Bill Graham!
Genius
Wow wow wow ❤🎉so good ❤🎉❤🎉❤ love

@@keeponrollin7922He's still in his prime. Saw him two years ago in Vegas at Caesars Palace and he was phenomenal and his band was stunningly great.

The Wonderful Remark came from Albert Grossman who said "burn it! " "a wonderful remark". Van titled it.
Great song but that band seems to be struggling.
Nothing wrong with your ears Roger. 👌
Beautiful 🍀🎶💚
