Regarding the badger issue as the main infection source. There is a school of thought that if you have your "own family of badgers" on your farm and they have been resident for a good while it is quite likely that they are likely to be clean. Because they are residential they will try to keep out possible "invaders" of young ones being pushed out from outside - off farm setts and possibly bringing in infection.
Yea I do feel sorry for the poor old badger I like them as an animal just they get the bad press and your scared as a farmer in case they do have tb but ones only land have been caught and vaccinated so hopefully be OK
How's it going, be interesting to see how they will sell at the moment, bad timing maybe. Like you said earlier on, lads like yourself rearing animals for farmers could get an opportunity with new changes here now. Hard to know how it goes
Hi keiran.. yea I see it getting bigger, will have to be a case of the lads who do suckling well let them do that and get a decent price for their beef and the likes of myself be feeder farms for dairy
No cathal really should be to be honest was doing a little last year but to be honest couldn't get my head round it so gone back to just walking paddocks
@@cathalcnwll I tried to cut the silage as early as I could this year because I found its around August I'm tight on grass so I'm trying to get all the cuts done early and free up the ground for grazing
