This song pierces player's personal journey through the whole game and out of it. The whole journey starts with it in Launch Trailer , when you just hear well-written song, but can't understand what it's about as you can't grasp why the second part of trailer filled with different people like kinda saying farewell to you via gestures. In game first we meet with original of this song on the last Johnny's gig when he screamed through the microphone that they would never fade away before he went on his last raid to Arasaka. Then we hear parts of it in different memorable moments, connected with characters of the game, like said in the description, e.g. when Judy finds Evelyn dead in bathroom, or even differently tuned like over Johhny's grave. And at last, in the end credits, when you finally realizes that all the time this song was about V and Johnny, personal anthem of your own story, which sounds differently, depending on your choice. What started like cool sounding song in the trailer, continued as musical memory of Johnny and Alt, finally ended as retrospective look to what you've gone through.
    We ended where we started.
Yesterday i rewatched Launch trailer for the first time after almost 2 month of completing the game and completely realized the retrospective of trailer, which told us the whole story in advance and our role in it - when V asking Skye at Clouds what he should do and having an answer - that it's all up to you literally. It's up to you how you will attitude to this game - seeing buggy mess and deleting and refunding it, having some fictional expectations of it, not paying attention even to the tone of the very trailer you've watched before launched the game and dropping it, may be completing it and forgetting for the next day, as you're not able to sense and feel some stuff, may be being hit pretty hard by it, may be remember it forever. There's no right/wrong choice, as it's life - for some stories ends even not having begun, for others they last for years. It's up to you what important choices you will do during the story - though there're not plenty of it. And straigthly after goes that "You believe you cheated death? It is death that has cheated you" - we've been fated from the very beggining, before even launching the game, but such is the way. At last you see all those faces in trailer, which now are familiar to you, and realize that perhaps in the end only memories remain about people which you've met on your path, what did they to you, or what you've gone through with them, as you can't save your own life because "One thing that changed it all, one sin that cause the fall" - and there's no coming back to "normal", you're only able to do something with the time what left. And Closing the trailer with the biggest lie of "living in peace as Mr Nobody, or going down for all times in a blaze of glory", as we've seen that none of it is true, as Johnny is forgotten by everyone, V won't be able to live in peace, never stop fighting for his life, and even Dexter himself, owner of this words, was just shot among the giant junkyard.
We ended where we started, hearing this song, no matter what we did. But as V responsed to Panam who was upset that she would have to return to the same roads eventually, where she started, - roads may be the same, but people won't. As won't we too after finishing this story.
As we heard "Never fade away" even before our journey, and in the end of it - but it's already another song with different meaning, hitting in other way and sounds differently too.
This song became the whole one with the story and will be the eternal reminder of the roads we walked and what happened. The game would be different without it. Feelings from it would be other. May be that's why it's the best ever written song in terms of meaning for the game's plot. Thus may be Cyberpunk launch trailer is the best one for all the times, as it brilliantly made not only as for visual, editing, but also for being even more meaningful and "heavier" after finish the game . May be - I don't know.
But the story has become a part of me. And that's more than enough for me. Much more that i could have ever imagined.
Now i sometimes listen "Never fade away", when i want to think about something serious connected with the story, my life. Not only a reminder of the game, but also a thought provoking - there's no other such thing exists for me - for this i will always be grateful to composers.

So many beautiful points here. I remember seeing one of the devs on twitter mention after the launch trailer dropped that it was the closest piece of promotional material to capture the true heart of Cyberpunk. It is just so full of heart and emotion, and this song just sticks with you. I also love your mention of the mr nobody or blaze of glory ideology, it really is a lie sold by Night City, and by the game itself in a way. Everyone purchasing Cyberpunk was excited to live out a role playing adventure as the toughest merc or netrunner in history, and every one of us ends up the same way - dying, dead, or somewhere in between with Arasaka. I see comments as long as yours all the time for Cyberpunk, definitely more than any other game, it really does just get people thinking and reflecting.

I was hit hard with this game. And it's stayed with me since then. I'm still playing it, wandering around Night City streets just for pure pleasure. This game was a life changer for me: it unblocks my artistic block, showed me that something that I was considering irrelevant and unpractical (making graphic stories) really can have the power to affect humans lives. The well-crafted and mature story, where there are no up-front answers to moral dilemmas, can really force you to think. That's how XXI century art should look like.

I took a while to watch the EdgeRunners series on Netflix, and wow the series makes me play the games every day, with 2.1 the games are really incredible already that basic I was getting lost for hours despite a little optimization wobbly, in 2024 I'm playing the game again for the 3rd time! and it's a real pleasure, although I know the game perfectly, I rediscover it each time. And here I am listening to the game music via its OST on your UA-cam channel and the immersion is all the more incredible.

another addition to the scenery is the tarot card adjacent to Johnny. that card specifically, is "The World."
    (Defined: The World
. . . The World lies at the end of The Fool's long and winding journey. Wiser and more world-weary than he started out, the Fool faces a moment of reckoning. Some of us accept where our journey has led us to, while others embark on a new challenge. One thing in this World is certain - you can't have it all.)
a rather intriguing yet faint symbol in the atmosphere while staring into the city; as V, we are left with few choices on where to embark regarding the Relic, and how it's progressively killing us. this is our moment of reckoning whereas we're faced with not only death itself, but the enigma of both cyberspace and time.

Was listening to your vids for a long time and just wanted to say thank you. My heart is aching for Cyberpunk ambient and it's story. You did such a good job on each of them! Can't wait for more. Thanks for being positive and actually bringing us the best of this game.

Thanks for commenting, I'm so happy to know you've been enjoying the videos! I do love this game. It wasn't perfect on release but that doesn't mean it's deserving of all the negativity being thrown around. I've never had such an emotionally impactful experience with a game before, and I think that's why we're all connecting so deeply with the music and ambience even after the game ends.
Thanks again, and I hope you'll enjoy the videos to come as well!

Yay! Video early. Also, I've been excited for this one! I really like this version (my favorite part of the Arasaka ending). Great job on the video. I like it! Good mix with Judy's Evelyn scene music. I can't imagine how hard it must've been to make a song with lyrics an hour long without sounding weird.

    • @SlowWalkthroughs
      @SlowWalkthroughs  3 роки тому +4

This version is too good! And I'm so glad you like the video, it was some trial and error for sure getting the pacing of it right (or I hope right!). I also cut most of the electronic bits of Olga's version since I wanted to extend the acoustic feel of the Arasaka ending. I hope it works! Thanks as always for your thoughts I appreciate them all.

@@SlowWalkthroughs Yes, it's good (in my opinion) because you didn't add too many lyrics but you didn't take them all out, so it still feels like an ambience. And you added that other track from Judy. It a perfect medium. Nice mix man!

Awesome mix. I've listened it a lot lately. Always brings out powerful emotions. It would be cool to hear a mix of ambient and Never Fade Away (Evelyn and/or Jankowska version) or something else with the Sun Ending version (when you hear the Samurai version). Or maybe it's already somewhere on this channel and I missed it? :)
