  • In today's video I attempt to catch, clean, and cook a Mahi-Mahi from the rocks of Okinawa, Japan. Coastal foraging from the shore of Japan is exceptionally unique. From the beautiful scenery of Okinawa's coast, to the rare species that frequent it, I can't help but feel extremely grateful for the opportunity to fish here. Fishing in Japan is awesome and I hope you all enjoy today's video.

    Still have a hard time looking at those cliffs without thinking of other films I've seen of them from the Spring of 1945. I'm happy to see you putting them to a much better use and giving me more pleasant associations to go with them. And surf casting for Mahi, like you said "That's so awesome." And a kitchen in barracks - wow, deluxe! We had a couple of bunks, lockers, and a TV. And you're right, you *must* be on guard against counterfeit beer.

    Going the summer of 2023 in July. Will I have a chance of catching any from shore. I’ve caught many in Florida and it seems so absurd you can catch them from shore! Love the video!

    Ryan, you killed it again. This video is unreal, you need to be part mountain goat to fish those cliffs, sure would hate to take a tumble , don't know how you'd get back up. Your videos are becoming so informative and professional, you could end up with a TV show.

    I know here in FL water doesn't get that blue until it's at least a hundred foot deep. Pretty cool that you can access that from land. I wonder if a trolley rig would work at that spot cause blind casting with a 10 ft surf rod must be exhausting. Who knows maybe with water that deep maybe bottom fishing may be productive also. Very intriguing stuff man!

    you can use savage gear line through jig.. the line goes through the jig and the fish wont be able to shake the lure off using the lure's weight..

    • @RyanMorie
      @RyanMorie  4 роки тому

      Tala Tala you can use a lot of stuff, a Mahi will eat almost anything. Very few things cast as far as an 80gram hunk of lead though 🤙🏼

    • @RyanMorie
      @RyanMorie  4 роки тому

      Authentic Angler yeah, no reason for it, other than that’s how the jig happened to be rigged. Probably overkill tbh

    I currently live in Osaka Japan but will be moving to a home close to this area in Okinawa (worst time amid this whole crisis I know). Interested to know what months are best for catching Mahi Mahi from the spot in the vid. I'm assuming around October-November? Everything has been late here on the mainland (rainy season, summer etc) what about Okinawa?
