I love the way Roger goes about it. Even at 71 he is still interested in learning more and honing his skills. Massive respect for the willingness to be a lifelong learner.
The dream team. This is what its all about , sharing knowledge and helping one another out. I love it 😍👌 kirk you're a true gent. Roger you're a legend 👌
Glad to see multiple comments praising this match-up. Can't think of 2 people more suited to helping DIY or inexperienced tradies on this subject. To their absolute credit, neither of them have a shred of ego in their work, and yet still manage to inspire. My own plastering efforts are poor, but improving. I wouldn't dream of charging for my plastering work. It's simply good to know the techniques I've picked up will pass mustard with the wife.
Wow! Both of you in one video! Hilarious and informative!! Thanks Roger for having the grace to become a student for us!!! Awesome teaching! Unless it's your trade this is essential viewing for DIYers and general handymen!!
Wow 2 legends together really great knowledge and skills Roger’s is amazing for a young looking guy😃 one question Kirk if u ever damaged your right arm the plasterer arm could you and have you worked with your left arm maybe a silly question but I just wondered, thanks Kirk best regards Jim 👍👌
When I was younger I worked for a plasterer for 4 to 5 years, he was a good plasterer, tidy and efficient but I’ve learnt more watching this channel in a short time☺️
Wow !!! Very instructional and very real life, Much appreciated Guys Keep it up. only discovered On the Trowel couple of weeks and learning loads. Thyank you
Great video guys. depsite Roger being a pro, its shows that when you focus on one trade, you have the time and constant practice to make it pefect. Kirk's plastering skills are a pleasure to watch..
I love how Roger says "treating the wall like a spot board". Literally bang on the money. He found a way to describe it so it makes sense to him. What I will say is, r.e the working from left to right and chasing the line, is that you're in control of where that line is, so if you wanted, you could leave the line with the toe, but of course it wouldn't make sense. It's just something we do subconsciously I believe. I could be wrong! Also Kirk, ain't no way you're my age. If we were in the same room, people would think we were 20 years apart!
Hi kirk What a quality video. I've watched Roger quite a few times. It's that quality tradesmen thing where you can see it and do it . I think it's in the knowing!! and the vast amount of knowledge that quality tradesmen have in there locker. It's something I love doing 👍👍🏴
Good banter 😂 really enjoyed the massive difference in the techniques, highlights the difference of been able to put plaster on a wall and been the plaster. Would love to see the roles reversed where roger gives to pro tips too kirk on the plumbing 👍👍
After plastering and touch dry, I mix up 60/40 emulsion & water and roller the lot. Once fully dry it provides a perfect key for the paint, whether that be emulsion or vinyl silk! Vinyl silk paint can be a nightmare to key into plaster otherwise, and even watered down normally results in having to Zinnser the walls.
I'm a multi skilled tradesman, originally as a joiner and have learnt to do other trades in my career. One of my best known skills that is talked about by my clients is how good my plastering is! I'd love to work with you for a day Kirk and maybe we could both learn something. Also, I'd really appreciate your advice on whether I'd be able to UA-cam myself. 😊
I'm always amazed watching plasterers put the second coat on with a non flaterened first coat and still get a lovely flat finish. I've tried that many times and have always had the first coat show through here and there.
Great video.good craic lads.everyone has their own way of doing a job be it plastering, painting whatever the trade more than one way of doing the jobs right in my opinion.if you don't like the way others do it doesn't mean to say it's wrong
Literally watched this on Skillbuilder earlier when it came out, great to see it again from your edit. Clearly had a great time together and done a good job as always. This will give a lot of people enough confidence to try simple jobs themselves, your positive can do attitude got me to give it a whirl on a small one off job. Saved hundreds, but more importantly had a great time learning a new skill 👌🏼
The collaboration that will break the Internet.....🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Bravo sir
The joke about your belly was hilarious and the second funniest joke was the midget trial😂😂😂😂😂
2 of the nicest blokes on UA-cam...pleasure watching you Kirk 😃👍
One of the best lessons in skimming you will ever have! Best 45 minutes I’ve spent in years! Thank you all.😊
Agree - awesome!
Love both your channels watching you plaster chills me out after a stressful day you are a master of your trade
I think it's his dulcet tones that add to the relaxing mood 😀
What a great video. One person showing how to do it. One person showing how not to do it.
Great collaboration Kirk .
always have look at Roger ( Tv diy legend) skills builder great channel .
Top blokes, and a dying breed 🤘
Roger bisby is to plastering what stevie wonder is to darts😂😂😂
I think stevie has a good chance of hitting the dartboard with at least one dart out of three ,Rodger has no chance of hitting a wall ever😢
Love the bantering... Two generations of craftsmen with mutual respect for each other's trade. I love people who take pride in their work.
Two genuine good tradesmen 👍 nice work lads
I only saw one good tradesman and it was not bawheid Roger the bodger, what an arse
I love the way Roger goes about it. Even at 71 he is still interested in learning more and honing his skills. Massive respect for the willingness to be a lifelong learner.

I can plaster with my left... obviously not as good as my right but sometimes in tight spots I have to switch hands
That was brilliant to see. I enjoyed that and I've always watched both channels.
Great to see the two of you together.
Brilliant watching you and Roger work together. Ive watched Roger forever hes a great bloke!
Great job... Kirk is an amazing plasterer...
Would love to see Kirk v Blaine have a plastering contest
I'd be up for a video with Blaine, he's a good guy
Fantastic video thank you really enjoyable! 😊
A video with 2 great personalities together! Amazing
When I was younger I worked for a plasterer for 4 to 5 years, he was a good plasterer, tidy and efficient but I’ve learnt more watching this channel in a short time☺️

Kirk your infectious mate in a very good way .very good channel spot on mate 👌
What a great video, guys. I really enjoyed it. Thanks, Kirk 👍 (and Roger 😊)
Great collaboration. Lads on the tools - fairly simple.
As a Decorator, Kirk works the best way, "Work Smart....Not Hard" as I do.😎
Had to double take when I saw the title of this video, did not see this crossover happening, learnt plenty from both of your channels
Haha full of surprises
@@Onthetrowelrodger is a brilliant guy 👍
excellent.. amazing you’re not spraying water at the end.. that’s knowing your material.. saw rodger using it … 😂
Really fun to watch! You both did an amazing job! I've never done plastering but still enjoy watching
Great vid, I’ve learned a lot from both channels and nice to see a collaboration between you both
Great vid gents❤
Loved this always watched rogers vids great to see you together , more please.
Great collab - follow both of you
We had a great laugh
Cool video and Roger asked some really sensible questions because I always thought why not just put one coat of plaster but alot thicker too.
Brilliant well done boys.
nice one! let see some plumbing with you and Roger!
For god sake no no no no😢
You both are first class tradesmen and genuine good guys ❤
Master class Kirk
Really enjoyed your presentation
Very Professional
whoever said roger is shite at plastering was 100% correct
😂😂😂
Now I am going to cry all weekend. My wife won't understand what is wrong and I will never let on that a bloke named Mark Denny ruined my life.
Never rated him at anything.
@@SkillBuilder you're an absolute legend Rodger. Have a go at anything and get stuck right in. Its the only way to learn brother.
Don't be a dick.
Collaborations are the way forward kirk 🙏👍 great video 😂🙏
That was brilliant. Well done guys
Ps, You're a great teacher btw, the way you explain everything so clearly. good job man
You should get roger to show you his put it on with a paint roller trick 😂😂😂😂😂
the production on this video is far superior than the ones before well done kirk
Brilliant !
Two of my favourite construction UA-camrs.

Who’s looking the oldest you or Kirk?
I've had a hard life pal 💁♂️🤣
@@S-Mc84 I still get IDd for blades lol
@@bbibbless 🤣 I assumed Kirk was older but that’s probably just because of his vast knowledge of the trade and his rugged plasterer looks!!
Great job brilliant to see you guys together 😅
That was class! Made my night!
2 yt legends collabing! Great watch! Damp sam in shambles 🤣
I genuinely did enjoy it Kirk, top blokes and great content mate!

🤣🤣 I felt the same
Two great tradesmen together, great watch 👍

Great video with lots of tips as always! What make and size is the trowel you are using in the video please?
Good ol boy appreciated
Top video and top work mate 🧱 👌
Entertaining captin and top draw content
Love the channel mate. I watch skill builder to so great to see you both together.
Welldone
How do u stop your knuckles hitting off wall or ceiling when using 4 inch trowel mate
Use a 5 inch mate

Get a sponge float you’ll see better results
@@sambirch7944 I like the sponge float. I meant to ask Kirk about it but maybe next time
First coat should still be very wet mate
Great vid 👍👍
great collab
Boss vid I find acoustic and pink board tend to take the moisture out the plaster a lot sooner
