Another informative video. I have converted all of my Triang and older Hornby locos to DCC. Where I could I also installed a DCC socket so the decoder could be removed. I did because I can remove the decoder and plug a DC plug in the socket to carry out maintenance running it on DC.
Thanks Stewart. I have a test track connected to the dcc bus for mine, but that is a good idea to wire a plug in.
Being a new comer to this hobby so was very useful to watch this video and got plenty of useful tips to use on my trains when I have to convert OLD LOCO to DCC, tank you.

hi great video,can i ask, what voltage does the 21 pin lighting v be ,and what value resistor to use please.
Hi. it is usually 12v DC out of a decoder. you should check with a multimetter if you can. I use 1k resistor, if you find the lights to bright you can connect another resistor in series to lower the brightness. Hope this helps.
What and where can I purchase the LEDs, I have done a few tests with 3 mm leds but these look a better fit, nice instruction video
Thank you Stuart. If you search ebay for tower/lighthouse LED's you should find plenty or google bright components. I used the 2mm leds
@@DonegalDadRail Thank you for that quick reply, I have a ton of 125s 14 pairs as in engine and dummy also a lot of deltics about 10 and then go forward a bit 2 eurostars and 3 virgin pendolenos with about 8 steam era the layout that I am putting together is 60" or 1525mm x 40" or 1015mm with a detachable sections to be added to that of 1525mm x 915 mm I am pushed for space and using a sectional approach is the only way I can build it. I an hoping to have three running tracks and then some sidings. When I first looked at DCC the decoders were a bit cheaper so now I am debating to stick with DC or not. I have wired in LEDS to some of my 125s and they work just fine. I might wire the layout for DC and have a switch to run of DCC for a fee locos.I did find some 2 mm leds that might work better than the 3mm I am using. I should add you video is how it should be done straight to the point put this here take that there so many well intended videos ramble on and on Cheers for now

Great de I dont have powered points, does it make a difference? Mark. i am thinking of making a designated track for DCC as I have at least one decoder, maybe two. I dont have powered points, does it make a difference?
