    Yikes. This video is a good example of why cultural competency training is needed in this field. It’s great that the BACB is finally acknowledging this and will make it a part of continuing requirements to hopefully reduce biases like this.

      Thanks for your comment and I agree! As BCBAs of intersectionality on our team, we strive to consistently learn and rise awareness about culture.
      This video was posted over a year ago along with a visual on our Instagram page that addresses the example I think you’re referring to, solistic tact extension: “it ain’t alright.” Rather than take this video and visual down, I think it’s important to leave it and have these open discussions as a learning experience for all.
      In the comments on our Instagram page this is addressed already. It is important to not label “ain’t” as poor grammar, but rather part of AAVE (African American Vernacular English) which differs from (but is not inferior to) standard English.
      I realize now we should update a disclaimer in the video caption here- thoughts?
