- Jenna shares her thoughts on the first teaser trailer for Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the comic history of its various heroes, villains, and Easter eggs, and the ways this movie is already a love letter to Jack Kirby.

The FF is reclaiming their spot as superhero A-listers and I'm loving every second of it. I would love to hear what comics made you love the team.
For me it’s the current run by Ryan North
Honestly they're definitely not the conventional modern superheros, I feel like they'll do for the mcu what they did for superhero comics in the 60s, a fresh family that's based more in science and exploration rather than fighting threats
This and Superman got me so excited for July!
There's def a strong theme of "Family"....this film might make Vin Diesel blush. 😅
Also, yet again, your work here is SO on point. Your brevity is amazing; in just over 10 minutes you deliver more deep relevant comics lore and all the fan squee, that other reactors take like 3 times as long to do. Keep up the great work!
I don’t know if there is another individual out there providing this level of breakdown and knowledge for the superhero fandom. Thanks, Jenna!
Another banger!!! Love your channel
Galactus is not a puff of clouds. That alone is enough to get me excited.
Shout out to the animated series “Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes”. Only one season, and it’s one of my favorite takes on the team and their villains.
They had me from the start but they earned my trust with "Ben has always been a rock". Also, props, I too set an alarm to be up at 4am PST and then laughed my head off when they kept me on there for another hour. :) Also, my money is still on Natasha Lyonne being Alicia.
Man, Jack Kirby talks about his characters with such love & a level of understanding i hadn’t realised was there. wonderful video @goreadsomecomics
*MARVEL FIRST FAMILY IS BACK BABY😁🥹4️⃣🩵🔥*
The Fantastic Four are my favourite superhero team, and they were the comic book team that saved Marvel from bankruptcy in 1961, and now they're back in all their glory to save Marvel once again.
They all look fantastic, and FINALLY, GALACTUS LOOKS LIKE GALACTUS AND NOT SPACE CLOUD!!!
Can we appreciate that we live in a time where CBMs finally embrace the bright, hopeful wonder superheroes like Superman & the F4 inspire in the world? The fact that 2 of my favourite heroes are getting movies about both of them in July is a dream come true for me!
I’m UNBELIEVABLY excited for this movie, thank you for your coverage Jenna!
Great job, Jenna! Here’s a heart emoji for each member of the team ❤️🔥🤍💙🧡
As a big Galactus fan… No pun intended lol That one shot of his head looming over New York City… Now that warms my heart to see
Bennnn literally looks soooo beautfiulll
I wanna mention how awesome Michael Giacchino’s score was. Just outstanding.
Great video -- I share your excitement for this movie! Your playing the clip of Jack Kirby made me wonder if Ebon Moss-Bachrach is trying to emulate Kirby's voice in his performance. Also -- and I haven't seen anyone mention this anywhere -- but the Fantasticar is an almost exact copy of GM's Firebird IV concept car that was introduced at the 1964 New York World's Fair. The front and maybe back end are different, but the side view is a spot-on copy.
Subbed because I'm really excited to see more FF vids from someone who's an expert in comics!!
I'm so excited for this despite some reservations I may have. The FF are my favorite Marvel property. As a kid I used to get VHS tapes of the 1994 animated show mailed to me by my aunt who would record them, because it didn't air where I lived. As an adult, I fell back in love with them thanks to the amazing run Jonathan Hickman went on. Speaking of Hickman's run, I don't know how feasible it is to expect characters like Bentley to eventually appear, but man do I want them to.
Looks...Fantastic😅
Say that again
I remember watching FF: rise of the silver surfer as a kid great movie can't wait to see my favorite team back on the big screen!
Refreshing to see someone who actually reads comics do this sort of thing. Especially for rivals too
One part of the trailer that always got me was when Ben was watching his human self on the TV jokingly call himself the most handsome of the team before the TV shuts off and all we see is Ben's reflection against the glass. Perfect imagery there.
Nice synopsis. I’ve always connected the Beatles with the FF. And thought of Lee/Kirby as the Lennon/McCartney of Comics with the Galactus Trilogy lining up with the Beatles peak of Revolver/Sgt Pepper.
Best comic channel🙌🙌
What a great video. Subscribed. I've always been a bit of an X-Head when it comes to Marvel, so I'll definitely be looking out to see what Fantastic Four stuff I should be reading before I see this movie.
This teaser trailer is fantastic. I’m beyond hyped for it! Pedro looks good, same for the thing, and Kirby
That moment between reed and sue cemented for me that this movie actually gets the f4. We see reeds guilt, sues compassion, and bens crisis. While we don’t see johnnys nuances yet, I trust we’ll see it in the movie
I already know the comics, but I would love to see the list of movies you mentioned in this! That sounds awesome!
Trailer was amazing it really looks like the classic FF4 comics came to life great video Jenna
I'm getting Superman my birthday weekend and this just after, it's truly a fantastic time to be a comic book fan
I'm so excited!
Never realised how much Jack Kirby made Ben look like himself
Hell yea the hype is real! A video about what FF comics to read would be good but also if there's any in trade paperback/omnibus form that wpuld be great info too 👌
Awesome video!
Great stuff!
The Beatles connection is doubly interesting now, considering Joseph Quinn may play one of the Fab Four in one of the biopics coming soon.
This looks amazing, finally a 50s 60s vibe that matches the time frame the FF4 comics came out. As well as this kinda Fallout classic Americana retro-future vibe!
Enjoyable useful vid!
“Tell me the thing you like from the Fantastic Four trailer.”
“That’s an odd way to ask, but yes.”
“Ok, can you tell me?”
“The Thing.”
“Yes. Name it!”
“The Thing.”
“Yes! What is the name of thing you like from the Fantastic Four trailer?”
“No, it’s The Thing.”
“I know it’s the thing you like, what is its Name!”
“What is not the name of the Thing.”
“How can I tell you that!? I don’t even know the name of the thing!”
“Yes you do. You just said it.”
“WHAT!?”
“No, the Thing. You just said it!”
“That’s impossible, man!”
“He’s not even in the trailer!”
I'd love to know what if comics you'd recommend and ones that highlight the characters rather it's highlighting one member or the whole team
9:54 Genuine question, is that actually how you pronounce Busiek? Cause I have no idea.
Yay! I absolutely loved the teaser, and was really excited to hear your thoughts! This, Superman, and even Jurassic World: Rebirth(yes, I know...) have me so excited for July!
My wallet is not excited for it, though...
I wonder if the shot where they are looking up at the Sky is The Watcher and not Galactus.
I really don’t want him to destroy their home planet because then that changes their whole character, but I would like to see them travel to The Marvel universe to either escape temporarily or to find a cure for Galactus
This trailer was great. Ben looks phenomenal. Hearing the actor’s voice finally pushed me to check out the first few episodes of the Bear on Hulu.
Your great insights earned you a sub! I’m looking forward to more of your content and coverage of the Fantastic Four!
Natasha Lyonne HAS to be Alicia
honestly I'm thinking that Malkovich's character is going to be a version of Franklin Richards that has aged himself up, like he did in the comics.
i will say my only real frame of reference for him doing this is from the current run of Fantastic Four, where he reminisces about his birthday.
Honestly? I was a little peeved that they didn't just play the trailer.
And don't get me started about trailers for trailers....
HOW MANY MONTHS
I'm in for complete insufferableness in July!
):(D
Bummed out The Thing is so small! Also, I really hope his voice is gravely - just hearing Cousin's voice come out of that character feels so weird! Also, still wish Pedro had shaved that mustache, because besides that, he looks great as Reed! (Personally never loved Mr. Fantastic in the beard).
I love the look and vibe of the trailer. I do hope the CGI on The Thing gets a bit better.
The teaser seems off to me idk why? Also there hiding reed's powers 😅 can't wait to hear Natasha liyone voicing Herby thank God marvel did call aqwafina also i still have such a soft spot for the 2000s movie's especially the first one
