Hi guys, Bathurst celebrates 60 years of racing this year and no there hasn't been a year without crashes, in a 6-7 hour race with both full-time and part-time drivers there's always going to be a crash or seven. If you want to watch it you can live stream on Kayo, Foxtel or channel 7 in Australia 🇦🇺
@ 8:59 he was trying to get onto the SLOW side of the track & out of the racing line .. but the car behind him started to head for the slow side so he tried to get out of the way, then the car behind changed his mind.. so you can't blame the damaged car .. as we say SH&T happens...
Every single Bathurst there's at least one crash and usually at least one mechanical issue for at least one car. It's also not uncommon for drivers to run into issues like dehydration. I don't believe any of the crashes in the video had deaths, but definitely some injuries, including the first, where the driver broke his leg, and one of the marshalls were injured as well, from memory. The one at The Chase where the car rolled multiple times... there's a longer shot of it, and the driver literally just opens the door and hops out, walking off the track.
The last death was Mark Porter in 2006. There has been 17 fatal accidents recorded on Mt panorama under race conditions. No doubt a few more as a public road.
@Danger_Mouse3619 no you're thinking of Mark Porter he was in the Fujitsu series, what's now Super 2. This T Bone was Paul Wheel. Guy that does PWR radiators for F1 and all motorsports etc.
10 mins his brakes failed and race tyres are bald BECAUSE IT GIVES MORE TRACTION so its not hard to get traction as you said unless the tyres cool down
6:47 Remember guys, in Australia, we drive on the right-hand side of the car so that the wheel that smashed the windscreen isn't in front of the driver
That Paul Radisich crash (around the 10:30 mark) where it hit the right side of the car. In Australia, that is the drivers side. Definitely would've woke him up
This year's Bathurst was almost a first for no accidents it was green racing up until lap 132 one car slipped on his downshift into "the cutting" and scrubbed the wall on the outside and got a dnf
12:30 is no where near that drain at the top of the mountain. That is about 350 mtrs from the finish line. Aussie V8 Supercar is aprox. $600,000 aud.(about$400,000 usd)
Bathurst 2023 is bit over 4 weeks away so you can watch it live you were talking about the top 10 shootout . Or just fly down here Bathurst is about 2.5 hours drive west of Sydney over the big hill .
the no.15 that goes into the wall actually had a harder hit cause he didnt have the cushioning of the tires, he went straight into the bank, these are also RHD, so it would of been way more painful for the driver that he hit the right side first
Very surprised that none of the accidents shown we're on a wet track. Bathurst is wicked hard on a damp track.. lots of accidents also in the early days 60s70 80s check em out ! The Track had no safety features at all no safety cars! Love the videos guys🇦🇺
Bathurst race track. Official name of mount panorama (Bathurst is the town where it is located. But track is known by both names )is actually a public road and can drive round the track both ways free of charge with a 60km/h (30mph) speed limit when not in use for racing and people actually live on the inside and around the track. Some of them pull out of there driveway onto the track.
The fact the Mostert crash didn't kill any marshals due to them being behing a safty structure shows how good Australian racing regulations are. Also Mostert breaking his femur in the crash caused them to redesign the car to make it even safer.
The dipper (corkscrew) is in the middle of the esses. You come off the top of the mountain into the first set of esses then the dipper then you get another set of esses then the last corner into forest elbow before hitting the long Conrad straight
To build and race a V8 supercar for a season costs $2.5 - 3 million. Congrats on getting the 4K subs goal. Other videos to look at, Touring Car Masters at Bathurst - ua-cam.com/video/6YA1ipIULYg/v-deo.html Improved production at Bathurst, especially with Jordan Cox in his Honda Civic - ua-cam.com/video/gCeF-bZK684/v-deo.html.
at that time of year there is always a good chance of rain, and when it rains its effing awesome, it can rain on the top but not the bottom so choice of tyers gets interesting, slicks in the rain equals carnage.
That was enjoyable...perhaps you should now watch and enjoy the Isle of Mann TT. A motorcycle time trial held on the public roads of the Isle of Mann. It has been held since 1907 and is known as the most dangerous race in the world due to around 270 riders and spectators have been killed on the course. 155 during the TT itself and the others during other races The circuit is public roads all the way through towns and country side so gutters, stone fences, barbed wire and people on the footpaths. Average speed is around 138 mph. The lap record is held by Peter Hickman 16m 36.114s - 136.358 mph around the 38 mile circuit. Top speed recorded is around 230 mph. There are many many you tube vids. Some feature speed, some accidents and some are documentary style. EG a guy is sitting at the side of the road and a bike whizzes past him at 200 mph less then a yard from him...
We only watch Bathurst for the accidents, it livens up a rather boring 6 hour race. Especially when there is rain or snow on the mountain and sunshine at the bottom, it's a treat for the eyes.
Probably the worst crash at Bathurst which happened in the 70's I think. I know we were watching it at the time. The cameras were on the leaders and suddenly went to this crash: ua-cam.com/video/us1atrMYWgA/v-deo.html
At 8:40 you ask what speed they are doing. They are doing 260kmh(161.5mph) and have to reduce to 130kmh into the bend. 2nd fastest part of the track, so probably just under 100mph at impact
The first crash was Chaz Mostert, the crash actually snapped his femur (thigh bone) and he still racing now……top bloke true athlete like all the motor sports pilots. 👍👍👍🇦🇺
The area with the grate is actually at the top of the mountain, the incident @ 12:40 was down the bottom of the mountain at the end of conrod straight in the area known as the chase
The worst or best crash was in 1971 when Bill Brown crashed, rolled and destroyed his XY ( model ) 351 GTHO PHASE 3 along a safety barrier at about 100 miles/hour. It rolled along the cabin area on the barrier He got out and later drove himself home. There is film of it but its in black and white and it shows this ton and a half of a ford almost being cut in half. Google bill brown 1971 bathurst crash.
The incident @10:14 was caused by a jammed throttle.. and ended that drivers career due to a broken sternum, and that was after another big accident the year before which was the very next incident @ 11:15
G'day Guys! Not long now...Sunday 8th October for Bathurst 1000 2023. If you have a VPN I am sure you can get the whole thing live! You might try Kayo for live streaming or Foxtel... Cheers!
Thanks! We had asked a couple people what service we could watch it on without any a sweet. We do plan on trying to watch it! And will probably go live during the race as well just to chat with you all
@@RealFansSports Another possible option is 7+ which is the streaming service for channel 7 in Australia and they should have it on live as well so again if you have a VPN...Go for it! Cheers!
as a heads up at 12:00 thats not at the grate rather thats the chase the section where they have to get through that corner after decelerating from 300 kph
Its nearly Bathurst time boys... Dates: Thu, 5 Oct 2023 - Sun, 8 Oct 2023 our time.. So Wed 6th in the PM to Sat 7th PM for you.. 12:30 You can "redress" if you didnt obtain an advantage (in sevewral foirms of racing).. but you have to enter the racetrack safely.. So yeah that was a fail haha 13:00 Yes Sir, thats the Grate right there.. So cool you are learnming the parts of this amazing track.. DONT TOUCH THE GRATE! Price.. between $650,000 and $700K + (plus operating costs). I cant think of a Bathurst there wasnt a crash, kinda impossible over 6 or more hours.. Surporisingly after all those crashes, very few people had any kind of serious injuries.. These cars are built pretty safe.. but Bathurst is a risky track... people have lost their lives over the years..
9:42 Throttle got stuck so he had no chance of slowing down. It would have been better for him had he the tire barrier. The following clip in fact was the same guy 2 year prior to the previous clip. That crash broke his ankle and sternum, then the next crash two years later gets the same injuries (and then some) and became a career ender for him.
There is no such thing as a Bathurst race where there was no accidents, Also the bit where you thought the Grate was involved, so not the same part of the track, the Grate is at the top of the track, this section was at the bottom of the main straight. Also Mount Panorama is a public road so any time there is not a race there, you can drive it yourself, but be warned, it is a public road with public road speed limits and the PoPo do like to patrol and issue tickets.
I'm pretty sure there has never been a race where every car makes it to the end. Remember it is a 1000km race, on a technically demanding course with suicidal native wildlife. I'm doubtful any Bathurst racer has never crashed in the 1000.
As a Bathurst local I have done more laps of the mount than you can count. Some have been for typical teenage stuff (there are a few good "parking" areas up the top), and a few have been 3am runs trying to crack 2:40 - very, very hard in a street car believe me!
Hey Guys. New to your channel. Loving what I have seen so far. Went and watched NRL State of Origin Reactions from last year, Shane Warne Teaches Spin Bowling Reaction, and now this. I am helping run an Aussie Sports UA-cam Channel (very small atm, about to hit 3K) called TJC Sports. We do mostly NRL Streams but i will be doing a few streams for Bathurst this year and more and this week is my first stream as I am just a helper on this channel. Any advice for me for the stream? And any possibility of a shout out for TJC Sports? If not, It's all good. I Understand. Loving your reactions though guys. Keep up the good work.

In 2017 they almost did it. They got 6 hours in and made it to lap 144 before there was a serious incident.
Hi mates you need to check out earlier races for crashes
you have to remember this race track is also a public road and yes you can drive on it
@ 8:59 he was trying to get onto the SLOW side of the track & out of the racing line .. but the car behind him started to head for the slow side so he tried to get out of the way, then the car behind changed his mind.. so you can't blame the damaged car .. as we say SH&T happens...
Craig Lowndes has actually done the fastest speed ever done on the mountain. Champion!
8:06 That is not the only type of wildlife. One year their was an echidna
Another year there was a rock.

That PWR getting t-boned the driver died after they got him out of the car and didn't make it on the chopper flight to hospital from memory.

Ohh true didn’t even think about that lol so natural for us to instantly think the driving side
These cars have impeccable safety standards, bloody hard to get moving if your not used to it.
They don't call it The Great Race for nothing.
That Paul Radisich crash (around the 10:30 mark) where it hit the right side of the car. In Australia, that is the drivers side. Definitely would've woke him up
The next crash was also him, and he had to get cut out of that one

Ever thought of watching the TT (Isle of Man)🏍️💨💨💨💨💨🤯 and the sidecars toooooooo🙀
To answer the question, no there has not been a single race in 60 years where there has not been a major accident.
2024 just happened lol 1 safety car and record breaking race time.
the no.15 that goes into the wall actually had a harder hit cause he didnt have the cushioning of the tires, he went straight into the bank, these are also RHD, so it would of been way more painful for the driver that he hit the right side first
Very surprised that none of the accidents shown we're on a wet track.

Agreed, theses are only modern crashes. Way back, Conrod straight was shortened because someone died after hitting the bridge...

This years Bathurst 2024 only had one small crash. 131 out of 161 laps with no crash.
The body panels of those car are the same as the street production versions. They gut the interior and install a kick arse cage
I do believe that all drivers basically walked away from all of those. even the one where the car rolled multiple times and has its skin torn off.
YES HE WAS SO PISSED AT THAT
Check out the group B rallies grom the 80s... and how close the spectators were...
That first crash, driver was Chaz Monsert. Broke his femur, one of my favourite drivers.

The track has an ellevation change of 176 meters and the fastest speed as the started to restrict the speed there was 327km/h

Guys the pet foods cars entry speed is 260km/hr at that corner & there are massive numbs before the entry
The redress part is no where near the grate...that damn grate is up at mcphillamy Park..

That t-bone at 16 minutes just hurts to see again. Wasn't a good outcome. Sad day.
Right side of car is drivers side here so that crash you said he was lucky in. He was the first thing to hit the wall.
