About The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring:
In the first part of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic masterpiece, #TheLordOfTheRings, a shy young hobbit named Frodo Baggins inherits a simple gold ring. He knows the ring has power, but not that he alone holds the secret to the survival--or enslavement--of the entire world. Now Frodo, accompanied by a wizard, an elf, a dwarf, two men and three loyal hobbit friends, must become the greatest hero the world has ever known to save the land and the people he loves.

Dont forget Tolkien
Also Tolkien
Eh, I'd say Tolkien did
Take a moment to appreciate how perfectly the movie was cast. Not a single useless character, not a single bland actor, all roles, even the relatively most minor ones were impactful and memorable. Its like stars aligned to make the perfect movie trilogy for ages.
Couldn't agree more
Baromir was kinda meh
@@JameBlack You have no idea what youre talking about.

Yes. A few movies do that. Jurassic Park is one of these movies a 28 years old movie and still looks great
Some things are timeless.
Looks better than The Hobbit xd
20+
That's what happens when you shoot on film
Quite possibly the greatest fantasy movie that will ever be made.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy as a singular film is the greatest movie ever made. Period. Anyone who contests this is a fool.
I think Return of the King is better. Unless you’re talking about the trilogy as one movie
@@Leg0456 Return is great but IMHO point Fellowship is better.
@@Cosper79 oh ok
@@Cosper79 I can understand that. FotR might be more concise, but to me RotK is a much bolder and more powerful film. It has a few more flaws than FotR, which isn't saying much because both films are nearly flawless. Also, major characters dying in FotR gave it a lot of weight. Plus it has the nostalgia factor of being everyone's introduction to the Middle Earth Cinematic Universe (MECU). But when I watch RotK, I always get the feeling that they were saving the best for last. It's Lawrence of Arabia / Godfather 1 and 2 level greatness.
Time for another marathon.

When I was young - I had VHS trilogy
I am 22 and now its 4k UHD
This movie is legendary and will live forever
I have followed the evolution I have them on all platforms. First VHS, then DVD, then Blu-ray extended and now 4k. Just have to buy a 4k TV first!
When i was young, i started collecting DVD's in 1999. Now i am...😅
...what idiot bought VHS in 2002 (or rather 2004/2005 because you say you owned the trilogy)?!? 😅
Even HD was already a thing around 2005! 😂
Always astounding what people write in the internet. 95% BS.
@@tydendurler9574 I was just a kid back then, guess my parents were too poor to get a DVD player early, I don't know and to be honest I did not care. I had never experienced DVD so I didn't know the difference. To be honest you seem like an idiot to...

Even if the trilogy was only ever released in 144p, it would still be some of the best cinema ever made
I remember the times when I would come to my sibling's game room and he was like "check this out", showing off his pirated copy of the newest LOTR (ROTK) on one of his PC and my jaw dropped.
And it would still win the same Oscar Awards
@@powerofberzerker9487 still playing the game it’s awesome

The VHS editions are technically 240i (I think RotK is even lower). I actually got the VHS ones and I got the 4Ks on the way. Now that's an upgrade, lol.
So, now every single frame can be a 4K wallpaper...
why not loop the entire extended trilogy in the wallpaper ?
And then u can take all those wallpapers and make it digital, edit them together as frames and make a movie... oh wait
just import the movie to wallpaper engine
guys, is this version actually 4k?
Ah, yes.
I can finally put Hobbiton as a wallpaper.
1:11 did anyone else gasp at the sight of Balrog? It looks just phenomenal!
Man, this series sure has aged well. The wonders of practical effects and appropriate use of CGI.
And shooting in film. Film that can be scanned to 8K without losing its quality (movies shot digitally in 2010 now are almost obsolete in resolution and the only option is upscaling and losing quality and sharpness). Film that can hold colors without forcing the directors to work hours and hours to remake the original color grade (something they have to do with digital movies).
@@Jorge_Ambruster Only thing is, this version was not scanned again, the framing is the exact same which is almost impossible. Additionally the 4K discs got denoised beyond recognition so that the Directors Cut Blurays have more detail than them. I will skip this release, also because they made the film look more digital than ever by denoising the grain and making it look more like The Hobbit movies.
The movies came out in the sweet spot. Before full blown digital.
Fellowship - 2/3 practical vs digital
TT - 50/50 practical vs digital
ROTK - 2/3 digital vs practical
Finishid rewatching the trilogy a few weeks ago and now yet another reason to rewatch it this year in 4k. Not complaining btw.

Watching LOTR will always be like coming home. While reboots and new stuff will always come out, these have and will continue to stand the test of time. Masterpiece. Pure and simple.
20 years later and it's still the greatest fantasy movie ever made. Harry Potter and Game of Thrones are just flies in comparison to this masterpiece.
The three films combined are the greatest movie (of any genre) ever made and the greatest achievement in cinematic history
When Gandalf slams his staff after yelling you shall not pass and the main theme kicks in, WOW.
Imagine knowing that there will never be another film made greater than Fellowship of the Ring....

After 20 years this is still peak cinema!
The best movies ever created. It was a miracle back then and it's a miracle now. It blew everything that came before it and blows everything that came after it to this day. It's incredible this trilogy even exits and deserved far more Oscars then what it got back then, even though it was properly awarded by the third movie. The quality and scope of the production, cast, visuals, practical and CGI effects and every other detail are unparalleled and unlikely to ever be matched.
*The greatest film trilogy in all of human history*
The Lord of the Rings is truly an anomaly. To think that 17 years ago we received the a high fantasy epic, as a trilogy no less, that was master crafted to withstand the waves of time. No trilogy since has been as consistently incredible, frame after frame, and every high fantasy since has been trying to pull off such a well crafted epic. Hats of to Peter Jackson and everyone behind these films.
I remember being 11 and heading to the theater to see FOTR thinking I would hate it because I thought I was too cool for school. After the prologue, I was hooked and by the end of the film, I was obsessed. LOTR is the greatest cinematic experience period. How I wish I could see it in a theater for the first time again.
The CG looks upgraded!
It was. They didn‘t change the „organs“ though, just the skin. Animations are all the same, models as well, just the textures were pimped a bit.
There is a behind the scenes with Peter Jackson on the official Warner channel on UA-cam, I recommend it

Do you include The Hobbit, or just LOTR?
@@kxmode - I was mainly referring to this trilogy as this was the video shown here. However, I really liked the Hobbit trilogy as well despite many criticism by many who felt disappointed, but the LOTR is my favorite of the two. You just can’t please everyone and everyone’s a critic these days.
@@pf5658 True that 👍
I came her to cleanse my soul after watching the Amazon trailer of the Rings of Power
Can I just say that this movie set the bar for all the future franchises that have come since. From the Avengers saga to Star Wars. This changed the game son.
Yet nothing after it ever came close. Avengers is a great blockbuster action whatever movie. But it lacks the emotion thta LOTR has - which in my honest opinion is just as (if not more )important than the action. In terms of drama and emotions avengers is nowhere near this masterpiece. Lotr ties everything together brilliantly.
@@ninjazet3585 the worldbuilding is also on a whole other level. The world of LotR feels immensely large, dense, alive; something the Avengers franchise lacks.
Ahh yes, the most prestigious Avengers sage....right up there is LotR.....
@@ryanwaasdorp Absolutely!
@@ninjazet3585 While LOTR had subtle humor, a movie full of jokes will never deliver the drama and serious depth of emotions, that LOTR has. Just one of many aspects why Avengers pales in comparison to LOTR.
