    If I add an individual device to monitor kwh and use the helper to reset the count daily, does the energy dashboard show what the total usage is when you click on the date / day / week/ month / year?

      Yes, it has logged all the data and will shows totals as you mention, only limitation here is how many retention days you've set up on your instance
