While I acknowledge Fischl's identity comes from Amy's imagination, I want to believe and hope there is a development that reveals that the Fischl book character is based on reality and Amy somehow inherited that identity or title. And I hope the Book Fischl has significant deep lore ties.

    • @TheCsel
      @TheCsel Рік тому +30

It also might be significant that the Khaenrian's have names based on Nordic and Germanic words, and there is a Khaenrian order named Schwanenritter or swan knights. Conversely, Mondstadt is based on Germanic and English words, with Old Monstadt and proper aristocratic words leaning towards german. Hence Fischl using a lot more german than most Monstadters, with her own raven knights also using the german term for knight "ritter". So Old Monstadt may have ties to Khaenriah and also the Fatui seem to have ties to Khaenriah, so there may be connection yet to be revealed.

i also really hope there’s some truth to the fictional fischl. amy could just be playing a character, but if she has ties to the real fischl too that’d be amazing. and i did notice the linguistic connection to khaenri’ah, but i’ve heard that’s just in the english localization, so idk how much it might actually mean. still, i’ll take literally any droplet of fischl lore at this point, she’s as open-ended as paimon and columbina

dude the real fischl IS real, she’s not amy’s imagination or just a book character.
the thunderfury and thundersoother domain literally is proof of real fischl, just go read the description of the domain it literally talks about the kingdom of the prinzessin and stuff related to the book.
also the fact that the mitternatch walts exists is more proof.

Also tying Fischl to Khaenriah, she is a reference to the Norse god Odin. She has an eyepatch (Odin traded an eye for knowledge/prophecy), and she has a raven that she uses for investigation (Odin had the ravens Munin and Hugin that gathered information for her).

Aight I suggest that we may differentiate which one is Amy, the chuuni adventurer girl from Monstadt that holds an electro vision and Fischl, the character from the book. Amy is trying to play a character, and perhaps the use of Fatui leitmotifs within her theme perhaps implies that the Fischl from the book/novel that Amy read had some sort of connections with Fatui? Maybe Columbina is Fischl? Both Scaramouche and Childe warned us about her. Just a mere thought. Yu Peng Chen is a genius and he won't make a cheap copy of fatui leitmotif in a 4 star character theme. There ain't no way he puttin' fatui leitmotif in Fischl's theme if she isn't related to it, I'm not buying it.

I always half suspected Fischl was originally supposed to be a 5 star along with Mona. Since early game already had Razor as a 4 star electro and Lisa as free electro. Interesting. I always thought that the cutscene showing young Fischl in the library where she came up with the idea of Inmernachtreich had a weird sinister vibe. It's supposed to be about a girl's imagination, but it feels like a supervillain origin story. Not to mention that the whole arc involving her evil alter ego is a bit too similar to what Kiana in Honkai Impact 3 had to go through. The alter ego even has yellow eyes just like Herrscher of the Void. In fact, Fischl has a lot in common with a Herrscher host whose Herrscher personality hasn't taken over yet - she has unexplained supernatural powers (creating Oz by the power of thought alone is no small feat), and she even fits the psychological profile of a likely Herrscher host.
Maybe it's a red herring. Or maybe this is foreshadowing of something to come. La Signora used to be a normal person at some point, trying to do the right thing - much like Fischl. Then the loss of her lover made her bitter and filled her with disdain for the world.

It was more apparent with the Herrscher of Dominance. Every host had a heavy psychological baggage. Some felt worthless, other were depressed, or had survivor's guilt and so on. However, you can see this even with Kiana. HoV exploits her abandonment issues, insecurities and the fact that others withhold certain information from her.
Fischl didn't have any friends because of her quirky behavior, and even her parents started to get tired of her LARPing. She felt lonely because nobody seemed to understand how she felt.

The moment you started playing Fischl's theme, I noticed the Fatui theme. While the connection to the Fatui is tenuous, she does an indirect link through a particular character that she shares _much_ with: The Raiden Shogun.
Amy doesn't just have an Electro Vision, but her ideals regarding it have an eerie resemblance to Ei's version of Eternity. Both fear needing to change, and as such hide behind a mask to protect themselves. Both struggle with accepting reality. (They also both happen to have familiars that often serve as the voice of reason when they go a little too far.)
With that in mind, the Raiden Shogun personally oversaw the Traveler's duel with a Harbinger before executing her, while also directly being another Harbinger's mother.
Does this actually mean anything? Probably not, but it's interesting just how various seemingly unrelated characters can have subtle connections like this.

oh, interesting. the raiden shogun is another of my favorite characters, so i did notice the similarities. though at this point, i’d say both of them have accepted reality and simply chose to adapt their beliefs to it. it seems to be a general thing for electro characters to stay true to themselves despite the struggles or what other people think.
and i agree! even if it doesn’t mean anything, it’s pretty fun that we can make such connections between characters. if nothing else, it’s at least good fuel for wild theories.

Well, Fischl has lots of connections to theater, that was a very prominent theme on her island and story during the archipelago event, she is a rich girl whose parents made learn music, literature and theater...The fatui are ALL conncted to an italian form of theater, the Comedia Dellarte, where they represent stock characters who serve as a mockery os society, in lore, they act almost like they are in a play, while manipulating the regions, amy is also always kind of playing a role, the character of Fischl whose lore has a lot of Khaenriah undertones...The lider of the fatui is Pierro, The Jester, who was a royal mage in khaenriah...what if Fischl, inadvertedly and intuitively, is playing a character that represents khaenriah and so to speak, the origins of the fatui.

Finally somebody talked about this! I've always found strange why her from all of characters share this motif with the fatui and the most resonable explanation I could think of is the fact that just like the fatui have to leave their past selves behind to become their new personas, Fischl also plays a character. So i was thinking that maybe, this first notes of the fatui motif can be actually a "fantasy" or "imaginary" motif. Another simillarity between Fischl and the Fatui (Although it still doesn't connect her directally with them) is what happened with her in the golden archipelago event and recently with Scaramouche. Fischl came in terms with her "shadow" self, creating her new persona as the Fischl we know, who still roleplays but isn't scared anymore to be herself. And the same thing happened with Wanderer who accepted his past as Scaramouche and recieved a Vision to symbolize this new existance as whatever you named him (if you did). (However now the Fatui motif is absent from Wanderer's character theme, so it might be just a coincidence that those two characters experienced a similar event).

Okay so when this summer event came out I went down a rabbithole with this as my fuel. I specifically do not think Fischl (or Amy in this case) herself is part of the Fatui, but Fischl herself could be a real person. I believe the Fischl we have is a big reference to an important lore npc, specifically a god. Something I haven't seen pointed out so far in the comments is that both Amy and Oz (which could be read as Ose) can be found in lesser key of solomon, like the other archons aliases (i.e. Morax and Barbados). Both descriptions of each of these demons have some similarities with the characters mentioned as well. What I would love Genshin to do would be to have her event with the large castle actually be foreshadowing to an area in Snezhnaya which the traveller can explore and discover more about the original Fischl and their connection to the fatui. Very excited for more volumes of the novels to come out and hopefully draw more lore.

I can actually see how Fischl ends up with the Fatui and the Tsaritsa. I mean she is an outcast, as most Harbingers seem to be. And while people tend to simply accept one's quirky habits and laugh it off whith some younger folks, or teens it might turn out to be a problem later on. Amy made the whole "Ich bin Fischl, die Prinzessin der Verurteilung!" up due to the books of Prizessin Fischl. In her Mirage we already saw that her mum wasn't much of a fan about it, and I think that Fischl has more or less accepted that she's different.
Yet if Mondstadt fails to accept her the way she is, she will have to look left and right to find someone who will. That's where the Fatui come in. We know that Fischl is an exceptional scout, even keeping an eye on Dvalin aka Stormterror. The Fatui could surely use someone like her. And with a delusion we might get to see an Empress Fischl, taking her rightful place among the Harbingers of her majesty the Tsaritsa.

I wonder if it maybe has to due with the Fatui overall having an "alternate" personality thing going on, similar to Fischl being the alter persona of Amy. Ajax vs Childe/Tartaglia, Rosalyne vs La Signora, Scaramouche vs Wanderer. There is the person they were, and the person they are/act to be.
Amy chooses to be Fischl. She likes being her, to the point she doesnt even want to break character. Though GAA 2.0 made her sorta lighten up and break character a bit more often.
Ajax was a shy boy with a love for adventure stories, and accidentally ended up in the Abyss. We repeatedly see/are told the Abyss is a pretty shit thing. So go figure what comes tumbling back out is not what went in. Which leaves us with the little battle maniac who would go on to become Childe/Tartaglia.
Rosalyne, empowered by grief and hatred abandons herself to flame, becoming the Crimson Witch of Flame. She would later be recruited by the Fatui and earn the title La Signora. Worth noting, the CW artifact set mentions she has forgotten her past. So the aspect of Rosalyne is as good as dead in that regard.
Scaramouche is a lot. Like a lot a lot, and this comment is getting long enough as is, plus light spoilers for the Sumeru Archon Quest. But Scara has three personality basically. The original Kunikizushi, Scarmouche when he is recruited into the Fatui, and then as the Wanderer. Wanderer still maintains aspects of Scaramouche's personality, but is no longer tied to the Fatui.
As for the other Fatui and what little we know about them:
Dottore has his clones/segments which meets the bill of "alternate" personalities.
Capitano kinda meets it visually, given the whole lack of a face thing hes got going on, maybe a Rosalyne/CW thing where he maimed himself?
Sandrone the puppeteer, that is prime target for personality shenanigans.
Pantalone and Baizhu looking alike has me seriously questioning if he maybe did some cloning stuff with Dottore and one of them is a clone. (They look way to alike for something to not be going on, but thats just a theory).
The Tsaritsa. Tartag has a line somewhere that says something about how she used to be a gentle soul, but isnt anymore.
I dont know, I just feel like thats just what the music is making a nod towards. They all have the person they originally were, and who they've become or act to be.

I just realised there seems to be a pattern of Fischl borrowing from the fatui, and even though its accidental on her part, it might just be because the character she for lack of better words "Cosplays" as, might actually be a part of the fatui like one of the comments here have stated previously.
Mona pointing out that Fischl stole her new catchphrase "Retribution" from Diluc might've been a joke but also a subtle nod to something much greater, as Diluc was, despite originally being undercover, was in the Fatui too.
Her sharing this leitmotif with Scaramouche is interesting as his character was in the midst of ascending to god hood, a celestial being. Fischl being a character who descended from traversing many worlds I believe fits the "Celestial being" title.
I'm most likely reaching, but it just feels like something I'd do if I was a writer for genshin. I love adding crazy links that come back in my storytelling, which is why I naturally gravitated to genshin's lore so hard. As said before me, Yu Peng Chen is no clown.

Good video! Considering the context for the appearance of the fischl theme, I’d say they’re not really the fatui theme. If they were connected, what I would say is that the theme represents lack of connection to reality. Fischl is known for her escapism, and the Harbingers are not fully sane from the lives they’ve suffered through. However, I’d say that the thing they hold in common is more the harmonic motion of tonic to dominant, then dominant to tonic.
The fatui theme’s opening 4 notes is strong degree of scale to tension, tension, and then resolution( D C#, Bb A, or A G# G# A). It also should be mentioned that while the Fischl theme is introduced and used several times, it’s not introduced as the main motivic material to later work with. Instead, the fischl teaser goes to the dominant chord and hangs onto it. Whereas the Fatui theme, and Scaramouche’s theme that contrasts with it (before changing to a version that is more in line with the fatui theme), are introduced early on. Signora’s melody in both her phases is a fragmentation of the fatui theme, using a similar rhythm, and using the same stepwise motion.
The organ has also been used for every fatui theme so far as well, but it was also used in fischl’s character teaser before the harbinger fights were released, meaning it could have been done before the association of fatui with organ was really established. It was also used in cusp’s demo trailer, if my memory serves correctly. We might also see more enemies and locations tying organs to certain areas, like how cultural instruments are tied to their region/country of origin, so the organ might be something to do with fear or intimidation or a sinister nature as opposed to the organ having a specific connection to a group, character, or location.
I’m excited to see what else genshin has in store for us with music!

There *is* that suspicious line about how Fischl joined the Adventure’s Guild, her parents convinced them and there is something only Fischl and Oz know about that they will not say… so it is possible her parents have some connection to the Fatui like that, and then even more so if she did have a connection I think it would towards Il Capitano. His Commedia thing is that he makes tall tales about himself that only work on people who do not know him, part of Fischl’s identity comes from her favourite book.
Then there are theories on who Capitano could be, Arundolyn being a main candidate which brings us back to Mondstadt. I love Fischl as mentioned in my intro, like a daughter so I’m fine the way she is right now and nothing like having relations to the Fatui is going change it if it’s true or not.

You did a great job on this. I'm of personal belief it is not coincidence but its significance has minor to no relevance likely until very late into the story. I'm not of belief shes a harbinger or anything like that, more if anything something like family relation, but it is fun to note the motif premiered with Fischl chronologically, and similarly its likely, although i cannot say, just figure very likely that Snezhnaya is probably close to or even the last region we'll go to on our journey. Makes one think.
I mostly think its just entertaining, however i do think its very likely Fischl may follow the order of a sort of joker card/wild card style character whose significance seems laughable or amusing at best until it isn't, until it obviously becomes something more. My belief in this is baised because i'm a fan as well, but besides that doesn't go deeper then it being a enjoyable trope which i suspect Mihoyo may be saving up their sleeve. For various characters who knows, but i do suspect early ones like her and Kaeya go deeper and its not a coincidence, not to say there couldn't be others.

thank you! and i agree with pretty much everything you said (the fischl bias is strong for me too).
i think fischl may have a connection to the fatui via her parents or the adventurers’ guild, but i doubt she herself is a member. still, i’m convinced at this point that the shared leitmotif must be intentional, and it’s super interesting that she’s had it since the game came out. i can’t wait to see in what direction they’ll take her character next… though it already took almost two years between her first and second appearance… so i’ll probably have to wait a lot…

I noticed this a while back and attributed the musical connection through the Adventurer’s Guild. Although Fischl is the only character from the Guild to have a theme, so if we get another character from the Adventurer’s Guild in the future that doesn’t have at least those two prominent chords this reasoning could fall flat. But my reasoning for the Guild in the first place is because the Fatui might be behind it (possibly as a way to monitor powerful individuals and collect data) due to the Guild’s headquarters being in Snezhnaya and Katherine’s design being similar to Sandrone’s as well as Katheryne being a bionic Snezhnayan robot.
So Fischl’s musical similarities might be due to the Fatui likely running the Adventurer’s Guild.
Edit: I forgot to mention that I think the reason she bears heavy similarities to Signora’s iteration of the leitmotif in particular is because they both hail from Mondstadt.

I think the variations on the fatui leitmotif in signora and scaramouche's themes are just to bring some variation or intensity or simplicity to the fatui leitmotif.
but, I do find it really strange that fischl's leitmotif is not only this similar, but that they've also kept using it.
okay, here's a really dumb theory that's definitely incorrect:
so, a lore youtuber recently pointed out that pierro is never referred to as the number 1 harbinger, and that he might exist outside of the fatui ranking system, so there might be one unrevealed harbinger. he speculates this harbinger might be a descender.
so: what if fischl is actually playing 4d chess with us and tricking us into thinking she's only roleplaying, but everything she says is actually true and she really is from another world, and she's spying on us undercover with the help of the adventurer's guild, which is an organisation from sneznhaya, and she's secretly one of the 11 harbingers.
like I said, that's definitely a wrong theory, don't take it too seriously.

  • @Togekab00m
    @Togekab00m Рік тому +13

given the new leaks about the updated ranks for the Fatui (spoiler: Pierro isn't a harbinger, he's their director, so we only know ten harbingers; Capitano is the First Harbinger instead, and Arlecchino is Fourth), it is virtually confirmed that there is a Harbinger whose identity is currently unknown and didn't appear in a Winter Night's Lazzo or in Tartaglia/Wanderer's voicelines: the Tenth.
It seems weird for mihoyo to hide such a low ranked harbinger, unless they are important for reasons outside their individual power level - namely, their position in the narrative. Given the Fatui's associations with espionage and sleeper agents, it seems pretty reasonable to me that a harbinger could actually be undercover, even as a character we know and love...
tl;dr Fischl or another character could actually be the missing Tenth Harbinger who we haven't seen yet, hiding in plain sight. imo Ayato is the second likeliest option bc he's sus.

interesting. however, i prefer to avoid or not rely on leaks, so i don’t think that’s the case for now. there’s also the fact that childe is stated to be the youngest harbinger, and fischl is (with current information, at least) younger still - i’m more inclined to believe that she’d become a harbinger rather than that she is one already. but genshin’s story always finds ways to surprise me, so i’ll be excited to see whatever the future has in store. just, y’know, in due time.
