What's that helmet you're using btw?
Keep in mind guys anything that isn’t a heavy barrel is absolutely impressive if it breaks 700 rounds in my view. Consider that if you reach 700 you have blown through more than 3 full combat loads of ammunition at a rate that you would NEVER accomplish in actual combat. Therefore these guns reaching 700 have done their Job 3 full times under the most awful firing schedule possible. I would absolutely trust my life on any of them that break 700 rounds. We live in a golden age of carbines boys!
It is impressive with what all we’ve shot already. It smoked a lot of large named uppers so it done good, just didn’t break any records like some thought

For sure. Above 700 rounds is still very impressive. Especially, as you said, a rifle that doesn’t have a heavy barrel.
@f.wallace8969 exactly. We’ve seen rifles with same and heavier profiles fail quicker. I guess the time of filming some had hyped it up as a record setter

When you get it. Clean the piston tube out real well with alchohol. With piston guns you want to oil the bcg but not the op rod. Oil and heat and gunpowder makes concrete. You want a dry clean piston

I have a few of these, different lengths. One of my favorite uppers to shoot hands down, especially with different cans. Thing about thick barrels is, people complain about the weight and then they do not sell. Can’t wait for the 816 correct redo though, mine has been outstanding. Thanks to your whole team for the hard work. My kids love watching these 🤘

@GoldenWebb yes Colt SOCOM M4A1. I put 300rds through mine the day I got it in about 20 minutes. Handled the heat just fine. Was still hitting silhouette at 300m no problem

Love my PWS MK111. The only malfunction I’ve ever had was the gas adjuster getting blown out the front while running suppressed. Got it remedied fairly quickly so no problem.
This is a key reason why we switched from full auto to 3 round burst in the M-16. I’m a retired Army Infantry Senior NCO and have 2 CIB’s and we primarily used semi-auto for clearing any building interiors but we had the SAW gunner close at hand in case we needed immediate suppression to either allow us to move to a better position or to kill someone or a group of someone’s damn quick. Two well aimed shots does a good job and conserves ammo and doesn’t overheat weapons. I always carried nearly 2 basic ammo loads and I had a couple mags of tracer only and one tracer, one ball which I could use to direct squad/platoon fire or any CAS support fire when we needed a more pinpoint target designation.
Thank you for doing this… this was what I was most excited for and honestly, honestly, I feel the same exact way as you. I Understand why PWS doesn’t want to add even more weight to the front end on the barrel where it bent though

iv had mine for a little over a year and its a great little upper, and the only piston upper i own and also the only one that will run when its -40f .
I like the upper all together. Smooth recoiling and all around a great looking gun!

It didn't do bad, The LMT 12" Piston barrel is thick and that will be the first upper to get close to 1k round.
We’ve got the LMT upper meltdown happening soon! The radian and Sig both went past 1K rounds!

came back with two serious suggestions. the fbi hrt upper which has a 11.5 colt heavy barrel and the classic sopmod block ii setup with the 14.5 heavy barrel.

Those d60’s always do that. There’s a little plastic pin that walks loose and makes it so you can’t drop the mag. Put a little super glue on it and it won’t happen again.
It’s not done it again and we’ve filmed 4 meltdowns after this one
Have you guys been keeping a spreadsheet of uppers tested and round count? Would love to see/make my own price to performance analysis
Would be super interesting if you could somehow do an autopsy like SOTAR and see what wear and tear happens after it dies. Such as gas port errosion, gas rings and just other degradation of parts/ specifications.

You guys need to put a few cameras down range. Seeing and hearing a volley of fire like would be interesting.
We shoot all over the hillside. I’ve thought about this before but I’m afraid I’d hit my camera lol
Just a suggestion for improvment, could you include a picture of a spreadsheet of all the uppers youve melted down and thier respective round count at the end of the video? Maybe even a brief synopses of what failed. Something like "gas tube rupture" or "barrel drooped." It would be handy to have a quick referance on where everything stands.

These are fun to watch but my question pertains to the BCG prep. All these guns go 500+ rounds without cleaning. What lube do you use on the rifles? (BCG…etc)

The D60 sticking is one of the flaws. Stick the drum in and open the upper up. You will see a small pin near the rear of the drum. It can walk out just enough to jam it in there. The fix is to glue it

We talked to HK once about this. They advised that it couldn’t go full auto because of the BCG.

We will be redoing all other uppers we’ve tested in adverse. Companies believe that it’s a large contributing factor to them dying premature
I saw a meltdown on a POF 416 edge that made it like 2500 rounds. You gotta do another meltdown of that one and see if you get the same results

That thing started sounding like a potato digger near the end. Good vid! Have multiple PWS rifles and they're awesome. But it just goes to show, the original Stoner AR design can't really be bested - all the results of the higher-end rifles seems to be pretty comparable.
The Sig LT is in second place with 1010 and its short stroke piston. PWS barrels are just to thin along with the piston. They are trying to keep it as lightweight as possible. For the normal civilian this doesn’t matter, for full auto users it does
@@GoldenWebb yup, gotta give credit where it's due. The Sig definitely held its own! But that Radian came in and saved the DI record!! I was also pleased to see the Geissele's performance (only cuz I'm a G$ fanboy😉).

Still want to know what you say before shooting. Each video it sounds like heres t dog lol also ive seen mags not want to go in but come out is new . The tone in the gun changed half way in. I was shocked it went a little linger but piston uppers are supposed to last long and was the bore chrome lined?

I am rather curious how one of LWRC's piston systems would perform. Also curious how the Brownell's BRN-4 would perform.
We’ve talked with brownells. We might be getting one.
Using my PWS MK111 Mod1 suppressed and not cleaning it, the bolt would be hard to get out of battery. I found out that it wasn’t the bolt that would get stuck, but the piston that would get stuck on the carbon that would build up at the end of the gas/piston tube.
That’s interesting. That could be what was making the charging handle hang up at the end. How much shooting do you see causes this for you?
Don't lube the op rod. It's in the instructions
@@GoldenWebb I can’t remember exactly how many rounds I have through that upper. I would hazard a guess more than 500, less than 1,000 (all suppressed). I got in the habit of storing it with the bolt open because I would have to mortar to get open after leaving it with the bolt closed.

We’ve never had to before, it’s always the barrel or gas tube that gives out
No closer look at the bolt carrier group and piston? Where the gas adjustment knob go?
We sent it back to PWS. The knob is what was sent soaring down range

I know uppers are expensive, is it possible to test barrels since thats usually the failing point beside the gas tubes on DI guns? Barrels like criterion are all the hype right now but how much can it take?

We have. Lowers don’t go through much torture with these tests though

The FCG is always fine. We’ve done at least 25 meltdowns now and we’ve never had a problem!
at 8:55 dropped the bolt and loaded a round into the chamber, and got a lil poot of flames from the barrel lol. seems like some powder residue got a rush of fresh oxygen and heat

It’s the Team Wendy helmet! It’s a great setup and 3A rated on the helmet. Visor and glass is rated for shrapnel
Damn. The POF P416 is still king for chugging through magazines nearly non-stop. It’s a shame. I was really hoping the PWS would dethrone it.

I wish you could show us how the BCG and the piston looked after this. Did the piston bent or something strange was happening with the BCG? If there was no sign of anything going on with them I wonder how long would the gun fire with a 16" heavy profile chrome-lined hammer forged barrel because there's no gas tube which would give up first. Maybe it would even break 1000 rounds if the piston didn't melt first.
It seems like the adjustable gas system failed. We’ve sent it back to PWS to be diagnosed

I have noticed shorter barrels last longer and take less heat
They do, plus the barrels hold straight for longer
Let’s get a LMT midlength upper on here with their gas system
Wanna see if the straight tube and different angle on the port does anything compared to the other DI guns
I suspect the failure point on my LMT is the pin that holds the gas tube in
Barrel is on the heavier side probably a Midweight

From your experience, what barrel profile would you recommend?
The Geissele profile they use for Superdutys in my opinion has been the best so far between weight savings and weight in the best place.
I have this upper as well as two LWRC 6.8,uppers. I would love to see a melt down on one of those, you would be the first

We did do that then we started releasing some videos out of order and it messed it up. We will get back into that asap

Buddy I’ve asked the same thing. For the civilian market it’s not that big of a deal since 99% of people don’t own full auto. They could just do so much better with a different profile
What’s everyone’s thoughts on PWS as a SHTF rifle? Worthy or not? Seems like a legit Piston platform. But can PWS go toe to toe with LMT or LWRC’s Piston rifles?
