    "Snow was general all over Ireland...falling faintly through the universe and faintly falling like the descent of their last end upon all the living and the dead" It is about the temporality of life and that we are all connected in the continuum of time and space...even the horse who ends up in the glue factory...We are the dead

    I think you could have placed more emphasis the role of music in the story - music, of course, being a very powerful carrier of memory, and which meant a great deal to Joyce. He is very specific as the actual music being performed and discussed, whether it be grand opera or Irish folksongs. And wonderful to see the much-missed Donal McCann as Gabriel.
