My mother used to be the Duke nanny when her was a little boy. But got called up in the war and became a land army girl. On the fram lent to ride as she need to ride to round up the she . Me and my two sisters meet the Duke and told him about our mother . He was very interested and had a 20min chat with .x merry Christmas and a happy new year. X

Chatsworth at Christmas looks fabulous so thanks for taking us along. I saw a documentary a few years ago on all the Christmas prep and decorating there but I don't remember if they said how many people it took to decorate the trees. I just know I am glad I am not tasked with that job because doing one tree is enough work.

I think it might be a little cold in certain rooms. Like you I'll take it! The gifts for shopping were amazing!!!! I have had to swap computers to reply to you question. Your engagement vlog has to be the best. It was amazing how Andy, Leonora and Mark managed to organise such a surprise, and it was beautifully filmed. Any vlogs with Flickr and the puppies content are near the top for me as well.

If going to Bakewell you should visit Haddon Hall. What an amazing place. In Bakewell I stayed in an amazing Tudor house behind an iron gate next to Tosca’s Bakery. The owner of the bakery would give me homemade soup and bread every evening as I’d come back from walking miles and miles. I walked to Haddon Hall and also to the famous train viaduct (16 miles RT). When in England I let my feet take me everywhere. You are so lucky to live in such an amazing country with over 1,000 years of history. It keeps pulling me back.

Chatsworth is my favourite at Christmas too - the only large house I have been to that use real Christmas trees which I love. Channel 4 did a documentary (still available on demand) about how the house is prepared for the Christmas season, it's worth a watch!
I’ve been to Chatsworth 4 times, from the US, but never at Christmas. It’s on my bucket list. Hopefully next year. This year I’m recuperating from a broken back…..in 2 places. Merry Christmas to me. 😂 Checked one thing off my bucket list , visiting the little village next to Chatsworth, I was happy to find the grave of Kathleen Kennedy……sister of JFK The Duke and Duchess are Cavendishes. One of the Duchess’ was Bess of Hardwick ( her place near Lincoln is amazing) and the late Duchess was a Mitford sister (two of her sisters were fans of Hitler and even dined with him in Berlin). and then Kathleen Kennedy was married to a Cavendish heir. Her husband died in WW2 and she died in a plane crash . Sad. There is so much interesting history there. I think I know English history better than I know my own American history. 😂 Thank you so much for Vlogmas. Yours are my favorites because you are down to earth. ❤️

Oh Alex, I’m in awe of your ability to navigate the Hornsbridge roundabout in Chesterfield whilst talking 😅 most of the local population avoid that roundabout because it’s just awful! And to drive along Markham Road and Chatsworth Road without shouting at other road users is astounding 😁😁 well done! Great vlog, thank you for taking us along. I live in Chesterfield and Chatsworth is such a beautiful place. I love to see the Deer and the walk up to the Hunting Tower is always worth the trip, as is the Garden Centre which sells the best decorations. Merry Christmas xx
