    I love petrified wood. I also hate hate hate cutting it. Man it can really bog the saw down. I’m on the cusp of splurging for an oil fed slab saw just to not have to deal with it on a water-fed saw anymore. Takes a lot of patience, spare time and understanding neighbors.

    That third piece is pretty impressive. The colors and how intact it is make it the standout for me. If you do slab it, please share that for us to see.

      You are soon right! Cutting is just as fun as finding them! Polishing the pet wood on the vibrolap right now. Video will be out in Jan sometime.

      The pet wood is fractured in one spot. I'm worried that if I slab it it will crack.

    You should seal them with crafters epoxy,for showpieces it will help seal all the fractures

    Hi from Minnesota again lolz, love your videos. My husband got me a saw for Christmas, and I have a lot of rocks very similar to yours. The blade we got took me 20 minutes to cut one rock, i se that yours has the segments in it, and others are smooth, does that matter? And what brand of blade would you recommend?

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  3 роки тому

      The blade definitely matters. Serrated blades work best but the full blade works too. If cutting any type of silica rock (jasper, agate) make sure the blade is rated for cutting granite or marble. That could be why it took long to cut your rock.

    Is it true to never tighten the blade all the way so that it won't cut your finger off? Also which way is the best way to cut in terms of wood grain? It seems to me that longitudinal grain would be worth more.
    ?

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  9 місяців тому

      I have never heard of that. These blades won't cut fingers. Check this video out:

      As far as wood grain and cutting, these are limbcasts so thete is no visable wood grain.

    I wish there was more detail in the description of what you see inside. You are taking to all levels of rockers. BTW, your description of "good" is blag, boring and does not entice me to watch any further. More light please and a little enthusiasm. Beautiful cut, gorgeous PW!

      Thanks for the feedback! Maybe I'm getting a little too comfortable with my audience? I'll be sure to tighten the screws on all your suggestions. Thanks again and Happy New Year!
