After learning about this game last year for the first time I found a mint core box, in plastic and unpunched! And for next to nothing, I immediately bought it! The hunt for the expansion was worse but eventually I found one, also in plastic, but at a higher price than I want to admit. In any case, Ive finally gotten to play it a few times and even though the mechanics might show its age some, its still just fantastic and so much fun! The expansion does add so much to the game but ill wholeheartedly recommend anyone interested to get even just the core box, its a great and fun game even so!
"We need to move on to the *actual* board" That moment you realize that your wallet is in your hand and you're buying the game before you even hear the verdict spoken. Because you knew what it would be the whole time.
HEY! In need of help! I recently got Warrior Knights from a used seller. It is missing ALL of the Fate Cards. I am looking for someone who can send me photos of the cards so I can make my own. Thanks! Or any other ideas as the game is out of print and Fantasy Flight isn't responding.
how much time does it take for people to actually learn this game? If I were to buy it, considering I - and my friends - have never played anything similar, would we be able to actually learn and enjoy this game in one night?
Bought this game many many years ago with money my grandma gave me to buy something. I fell in love with it instantly, but unfortunately my family wasn't as keen on complex games like I was. I've played this game maybe 6 times for the past 15 years or so, but it remains my favorite board game by far. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I just really like the core card decision mechanic. You have to plab ahead, be flexible when things don't go your way, aaaand also think about what your cards might trigger. Don't play tax cards if your fellow barons needs money badly!
Man, with Paul over in Canada you should get him to send over a copy of the full colour version of House of Leaves, it's so much more affecting than the black and white version
I come from the future to say that, upon looking into getting the game, I have found that the base game is a surprisingly reasonable $50 while the expansion is somehow a bizarre and staggering $150.
I have this game and the expansion however, I am a solo player and wondering if I can play this game. It would be such a pity if I cannot play the game. Is it true about a traitor ? If so, why not just take that card out ? Thank you.
Seems similar to first edition which I played as a 12 year old.. Was fun The action cards are new though.. There used to be that bidding war for the troops (all mercenaries)....
I bought this game and the expansion Crown and Glory BUT was told I could play it solo as two players.......never tried ! Can it really be played solo as two players, if so........any good ? Thanks in advance.
Holy shit, I just noticed the copy of slavjank game You Are Empty, jeez, blast from my past. This is why I rewatch old vids. Also to give views and I love the reviews
I love your reviews and would recommend them to anyone. However, after watching this review, I then went to try to buy it. Cheapest price I could find was just over £100! This seems like a silly amount for such a game. Is it just me that cannot justify such a price tag or am I in the minority? Still loved the review as always but this game is so pricey I would imagine there are many who will not be able to invest.
Jonathan Downham The ridiculous prices are because the game (and its expansion) are sadly OOP now. But they come up on ebay every so often, for more reasonable prices.
Its a great game and very enjoyable to play but I do think the rulebook isn't as clear on things as it should be. I also find it odd that Warrior Knights is given an age range of 12+ whilst Game Of Thrones the board game, a game I found less complex, is given an age range of 14+. Very odd. Good review :)
That's something that I really wanted to know... I truly love agot and it seems that I'm part of a minority. Is Warrior Knight much better? It looked a little too random.
you mean the shuffling of action cards? it adds some uncertainty, but not really much randomness because you at least the order of your actions are the same. what makes the game awesome IMO are the laws that people vote on (there's nothing like that in AGoT), some cards allow you make up your own laws, which is super fun. but yeah, definitely need the expansion IMO for the king variant which makes for a really fun finish at the end. I also like the combat system better than AGoT, which is too static imo. There's more action going on in WK IMO. I definitely don't think you're in the minority, AGoT is a much more famous game than WK.
I see, thank you! I'll give this a shot... one more thing, about game length. Is it absurd? Cause me and my friends easily get into a 5h or 6h long play of agot (and I'm looking for something a little faster)
Oh well, guess a heavy strategy game would not work as a short game anyway right? It sucks that this is always a problem when I try to bring new people to the board game world of happiness and dreams haha

It took me a while to realise that this is quite an old review, but the signs were there: the intro, Brendan's hair, Paul not in Canada.
It is important that Brendan was featured in this episode.

me presenting a powerpoint presentation in front of my class in fourth grade:
Just read an article in a very old White Dwarf by the creator. Thought I'd check it out, blimey looks a bit complex.
I was SHOCKED when I found out that this was the first SUSD review after end of season 2(and probably first ever episode featuring Brendan!).
A classic I have only played twice or so. I have it in my collection. Expansion is a must though.
I've owned this game for years, and never been motivated to get it off the shelf. This review makes me want to take it for a spin.
I'm rating this a 9/10 for 'inexplicably weird but also funny'. 👍
i need to revisit this one. played a few years ago and didn't think too much of it, but you're making it sound better than what i remembered.

Did you find the help you needed? I have to game
Does this have a shorter playtime than TI4? I wonder how the two compare... if they cancel each other in a collection
A fantastic game. My only caveat is to say the expansion is a must for it.
how much time does it take for people to actually learn this game? If I were to buy it, considering I - and my friends - have never played anything similar, would we be able to actually learn and enjoy this game in one night?
This game looks awesome! I wish I could buy it for a reasonable price!
:(
Which one had Brendan at the end losing his mind in a time loop where he loses to Quinns every time?
your reviews are awasome!

I just found an original copy at the thrift store and what a beautiful game this looks to be! I can't wait to play it!

Where did you get that shirt?

House of Leaves (on the bookshelf) is really amazing.
Johannes Dalsgaard It's so good.
Seems similar to first edition which I played as a 12 year old..
Was fun
The action cards are new though..
There used to be that bidding war for the troops (all mercenaries)....
I just got an original copy for absurdly cheap. Having never played this could I print my own action cards and add it to this game?
SU&SD does Rahdo....
Yes, I will marry you, Quinns!
I loved the original...strangely this seems less streamlined aka more faff!
Still, would love to try this version.
Brendan's back! So he wasn't eaten by a beast after all!
so is it kind of like trajan but with fun put into the mini games
I bought this game and the expansion Crown and Glory BUT was told I could play it solo as two players.......never tried !
Can it really be played solo as two players, if so........any good ?
Thanks in advance.
apollonia rip
Soo..is that a recommended buy?
Holy shit, I just noticed the copy of slavjank game You Are Empty, jeez, blast from my past. This is why I rewatch old vids. Also to give views and I love the reviews
I like your Channel’s name
Isn't this an adaptation of the wars of the Roses game Kingmaker?
Shit, this game looks super fun...aaaaaand it's out of print.
Whatever happened to "Brendan"?
He moved to Costa Rica.
Seriously?
thequeenofspades He ran off with the money he embezzled from the japanese government.
More brendan. He's a good writer

Hey I live in Norfolk lol, 🇱🇷
This game sounds like "Medieval Imperium"
camel cigarettes and tyskie, a man after my own heart

Good review :)
More mature content in one perhaps?
I haven’t played GOT so excuse my ignorance.
GOOD EVENING
Keep em coming guys!
there are still many videos left to migrate to youtube. you could go to their other sites and catch up faster
this game is really good, esp. with the expansion. better than agot imo

yeah its pretty long lol like 4+ hours, especially if you have to teach. the rules have some way to make the game shorter, or even longer haha
Oh well, guess a heavy strategy game would not work as a short game anyway right? It sucks that this is always a problem when I try to bring new people to the board game world of happiness and dreams haha
"Brendan"
The week in review february 2020
Oh. My. Gawd. Becky, look at that BOX. It's so *big*, and so full of stuff! It's just. UGH.
I just feel bad for Brandan! :D

totally missed it on their site.
I think it's a tragedy from yuyo you drew from the deck
I've played this game a few times and I have to say, games have advanced past this.
