Firehose dialog keeps me totally engaged...I play most VODs at 1.5 speed while using Captions and the 5-second Back-arrow massively to absorb highlights and inaudibles; this one I played at Normal speed...the energy of Tucker Max and Mr. Vee hype me up to absorb then emulate. As an aside: I'm occasionally pausing to vocab words like whitespace and hundo...so yes, I fully agree that this is an exceptional episode. Now...it's time to replay again.
I loved your discussion about working through the "system" or just working around it altogether. That hits home in a serious way. For every 80% of my life where I worked the "system" to my own benefit, 20% of my life required me to work around it. Neither path was particularly painful. Choosing between them was.
Lots of gems here Gary! I would pay to watch you do a reality show follow an aspiring company around for a day and then at the end tell them your observations because NOBODY understands human nature like you do. You knew so much about Tucker because you get people better than anyone I've ever seen or heard! Rock on Brother!
Gary and Tucker I've had parents / elders all pushing their agendas on me, and oh so good to hear you talk about the reality that we really need to define ourselves without feeling guilty about our parents' definitions of us. And there are those parents who need to put you down so they can feel good about themselves.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISHA‼️ She shares birthday's with my Nani/my Mama's Mama. Super episode. There is something so deep seeded about defining your parents, especially if you're an immigrant. I understand it 1000% ... but at some point you have to take a stand for your life. Hopefully you do it in your 20's and not your 50's or 60's. I know so many people who are still living for the validation of others and they are 50+. CRAZINESS‼️ Turning down to be a judge on Top Chef?! Heart melting❤️
Daniella, I had that exact conversation with my dad. It didn't go well. After years of witnessing me becoming hugely involved within activism and doing loads of stuff I was passionate about, and improve as a person. So a few months ago we had a serious conversation and he still wanted me to go uni. Fast forward to now 2 months and Im on the verge of moving into studios for my media company and youth charity alongside equally passionate people in what will be creative hub. All the years of following my heart have actually paid. Its a question of where you feel yourself actually learning. For me following my heart and doing epic shit allows me to learn so much more about life, and for my business. I feel if you follow your passion effectively you will naturally understand it enough to make it
I relate to this guy really hard when he talked about raising himself and developing the sense that the "system" does not provide the way it promises to
lol i came here to give the exact same comment . love your stuff Gary, but you cutting Tucker off every other word is making it extremely choppy and more difficult to enjoy
I actually feel like Gary did a great job at listening this time lol. He's getting there people! Give him time.. The dynamic of the show is evolving and Gary's gonna get it..
I went into this video not knowing who Tucker Max is, and thinking how can author have any content that could be beneficial to me but I watched it anyway. Boy was I wrong, great guest and great content as always Gary!
Gary has so much energy and his brain works so fast that he would interrupt Tucker like a million times. It's like he doesn't have the patience to actually sit down and listen, only for a few minutes tho.
Real people real talk honest self-assessment and ur guest shows the difference between ideas and execution he did stuff a lot of stuff and it started cause he was the one who wrote it down...he actually DID something! So "sympatico" with everything Gary has been teaching.
Awesome video Gary! I've been thinking of creating a few ebooks for my audience, and being a book-loving community, they'll eat those up. Thanks for inspiring me and adding so much value to my life :D
YASSSS, glad there's a new video. Just read this quote from Tucker a couple days ago, rocked me... “There are only two things that really matter in life: 1) doing meaningful work that you enjoy, and 2) building relationships with people you love. That's where should invest your time and your money.” @alejandroreyes
Self publishing has never been easier now with Amazon kindle and all their publishing services. I have managed to publish 12 books in the last 5 months.
Wow, that really summed up my case: "when you wake up at 34 from a decision you made at 17". That is exactly what happened to me and now I'm playing 15 year catchup to get to where I really want to be.
I got quite a bit out of this, maybe because I got fired from the family business too? Prime example of the importance of Eq, tactics, and rejecting what people want you to do because you know what you need to do.
Incredible value answering the college question at 26:30 I can see D-Rock making some content using a clip from that peice. I know there are a few of us who need a little push over the edge. Thanks Gary!
I need to be a better story teller. I tend to stumble over my words and ramble but I'm working on it. I'm not looking to be great just good. Thank you!
I never really felt like I started living until I got out of school. 10 years of my life that I can never get back. I could have done so much with those 10 years :)
Gary, just got your book and I'm loving it so far! I've already recommended it to a bunch of my friends. Keep grinding man you're videos are idea generators for me and love your approach.
do not like folks talking over each other but it happens. Overall good video. Tucker max now gushes about his kid and family...so college guy who now grows up and have a fuller life. being self aware is important, build on the side no matter what the idea.. because it will win out with enough HUSTLE, ENERGY, TIME and FOCUS. Great video great submission.
Gary! You gotta hold back a little when interviewing. Right when Tucker is about to tell a key moment in a story, you interrupt! You're blocking value from coming out. Larry King's advice on interviewing is "The most important thing to do when you're interviewing someone is to listen. Oftentimes, the answer you get will lead you to another question" No doubt you provide value, but #askgaryvee is more about the people you interview. So sit back and if you need to jump in to put an interviewee on track, allow them to finish a sentence. If it's going way off topic, you can wait for them to take a breath, then interject with "So what happened with ____? I want listeners to hear the end before we move, I have an interesting question to ask" Now, you've brought it back on track, made it about your listeners (so they comply) and gave them a carrot to follow (Oh...Gary has an interesting question? Let me finish this story quick so he can ask!) Hope this helps. And happy belated bday to your little girl =)
you guys make me feel normal for thinking all this my whole life. My parents have always wanted me to go to school. That is how my whole small city was. They all lived there and build that community for 20+ years so I think that community setting kind of shaped my parents and others thinking. I knew even when I was little a lot had to do with bragging rights almost. I just grinder my way thru to make it work even tho I didn't care much. I also think this plays into why so many kids choose party schools or go just to party because they don't care and see it as a free pass to party for 4 years so their parents can brag.
Great points. I think school is necessary, I just think its broken. Learning will always take place. There needs to be a better environment for us all to learn in.
+New Future Builder it's def broken and it's all over money. just give it 3 to 5 more years. we're watching the collegiate collapse now cuz there is no way more than half these kids will pay back on their loans...that new learning place your talking about is the internet. only difference is ppl need to learn to stop going into college to be educated on multiple subjects it is much better to pick something and run with it. the internet allows for almost a trade in every subject because you can monetize anything
RollinThatPif Great points there. The future of college is up in the air for sure. And you're right. Part of it is going into college with a certain mindset and focus.
I definitely remember the name Tucker Max. His first book was RI- DIC-CU-LOUS! I loved reading it. One of the first books that proved that books didn't have to be boring. In terms of the website. Good information. The process was well outlined. I can say that it wasn't anything special though. I wasn't particularity excited when I landed there and watched your video.
I've had both of Tucker's books in my possession for a couple years now and never gotten around to finishing them because I'm a lazy sloth. My girlfriend and I just took a long road trip and listen to them both in audiobook form. Great stuff we laughed our asses off. tucker through a question out about what he's doing wrong, but Gary, to help your guests out it might be nice to put a link to their sites in the comment section. I'm super interested in booking the box and going to go look it up right now but I thought I would've been easier if I was able to just click the link in this comment box. Please forgive any spelling errors as I am talking to text
So I can make a living being an entertaining wise ass on the webs? Shit that used to get me thrown out of class in HS can build me an audience as long as I entertain them and provide value? Great Shoooooooow Gary Veeeeee!
I'm curious about what Gary says around 27:37 he mentions not doing the risk reward things that younger kids should be doing. I want to know some examples of what those risk reward things that kids my age (early 20's) should be taking. Maybe examples from his life?
Love how you bring different sets of people onto your show. I feel like Tucker rubs off on many people in the wrong way just like with you when people first meet you. I remember first seeing you and you just seemed like egotistical prick lol. But when I kept watching I found out that you are genuine and its just you but that you really are a good person at heart. You certainly bring me value Gary! Keep doing you!
Damn - how do I find out in advance who the guests are going to be? I totally want to know "Gary, how do you feel about the fact that Tucker put you on his DO NOT READ list in Asshole to CEO (#4)". Would've loved to see that reaction and the explanation
Side note, two of my favourite people. Started as a fan of Tucker's comedic writing, but I remember that transition from blogger to book seller, and it's been interesting to see the way he's developed as a businessman ever since.
Gary, could you work on the sound direction of the Mic pls? i'm listening to this with my plugs on phone and the difference between these videos and your daily vee's are huge. it sounds hollow. thank you. x
Gary, you often say that the social media game is all about attention. Halfway through watching this one and you've given more attention to your salad than your guest or your audience...
Gary, let Tucker tell his story!
He doesn't know himself tho, looks like two ego battling it out to make sense of nothing
Except Gary is legitimately a smart man and passionate
Wow, might be the best episode ever. The time off was worth it! Glad you dug deep on Tucker.
Really like the way you dig into your guests to find out the turning point or the things that contribute to their success.
If you're complaining about how real this is, no one cares including Gary. This is gold. Great Episode.
If you can look past the talking over each other constantly, this was a pretty good episode.
Agreed, mainly Gary though. He had to voice that he knew where Tucker was going with his thoughts constantly.
Love the bookinabox idea. Creative Writing students everywhere should take a look.

That nonverbal communication link was STRONG. Thoughts flowing faster than they could speak!
Halfway through, love this episode. We know first hand the time and energy it takes to write a book.
I have your cookery book - lots and lots of taste :)
This episode was awesome, Gary. Tucker had some great insight and I'm pumped for 208 🙌🏼
Gary and Tucker I've had parents / elders all pushing their agendas on me, and oh so good to hear you talk about the reality that we really need to define ourselves without feeling guilty about our parents' definitions of us. And there are those parents who need to put you down so they can feel good about themselves.
Once again ... Great Value!! Thank you Thank you Thank you....

27:40 hits home for me. Real talk that I think more kids need to hear.
Let him talk Gary sheesh
He was the same way with Seth Godin. It tough and yet interesting to watch.
Or.... re-watch at 18:30 or so. Garyvee knows HIS message and why he does #askgaryvee and he isn't Barbara Walters or Larry King. On purpose.
Great guest!
I like Gary, but I wish he wouldn't have cut off Tucker so much because I was really interested in points he was about to make. :(
Gary, you were fine man - can't please everybody. #Patriotsfan but I come in peace.
lol i came here to give the exact same comment . love your stuff Gary, but you cutting Tucker off every other word is making it extremely choppy and more difficult to enjoy
Tucker Max + Gary Vee = EPIC
I actually feel like Gary did a great job at listening this time lol. He's getting there people! Give him time.. The dynamic of the show is evolving and Gary's gonna get it..
I really loved that!! I've never heard of Tucker before, but I'm going to find out more. 😀🙏🏻
I went into this video not knowing who Tucker Max is, and thinking how can author have any content that could be beneficial to me but I watched it anyway. Boy was I wrong, great guest and great content as always Gary!
I have his book and it is hilarious!!!! Read it! (Gets pretty vulgar though lol)
Great show. You never disappoint, Gary - Always, great value in each episode. Thanks!
I still haven't read Tucker's books, but they sound really interesting 📕📗
Highly recommend you read them. Can be crude, but they are hilarious.
Gary has so much energy and his brain works so fast that he would interrupt Tucker like a million times. It's like he doesn't have the patience to actually sit down and listen, only for a few minutes tho.
love! Currently on the treadmill, bout to jump from this video to the amazon kindle app to continue reading Jab jab jab right hook!
the guest this time was straight g
+PinkAlien gay g
A straight lying G

Thanks Gary for using the word "subconscious", I was getting tired of hearing "unconscious" all the time.
YASSSS, glad there's a new video.

Self publishing has never been easier now with Amazon kindle and all their publishing services. I have managed to publish 12 books in the last 5 months.
How did the books do in sales?
Four of them were Amazon best sellers in their categories :)
VYBO Awesome!!!!
the content in this makes this the best #AskGaryVee show in a while to me
Thank you Gary thank you Tucker!
Having the whole weekend to catch up with the show!
Gary you interview so well man. You interrupt ALOT but the interruptions almost always bring out something of interest/value.
Yea i REALLY wanted to hear more from Tucker cuz I've read his books so many years ago but like he said i don't know anything about him as a person
Gary you're such a genuine guy
Wow, that really summed up my case: "when you wake up at 34 from a decision you made at 17". That is exactly what happened to me and now I'm playing 15 year catchup to get to where I really want to be.

Why does this guy look EXACTLY like the white guy in fast and furious tokyo drift?
he does sound like him
LMFAO! In dying hahaha! So true
That's hilarious it's so true!
So true! lol
I think this might be my new favorite episode of the shooow, you guys both killed it and brought a ton of real value. Appreciate it as always!
I need to be a better story teller. I tend to stumble over my words and ramble but I'm working on it. I'm not looking to be great just good. Thank you!
so awsome, how u drilled drilled down Into the WHY what Tucker did, gives insight as to why we do things Etc
I never really felt like I started living until I got out of school. 10 years of my life that I can never get back. I could have done so much with those 10 years :)
Prob my favourite show so far, this and the Seth Godin one. 👍🏼💕
Another great show. Gonna have to read Tucker's books.
Thanks for posting great content so consistently Gary Vee
Tucker's first book was hilarious.
This dude makes his interviews about himself rather than finding out more about his guests.
Loved this interview. Thanks Tucker & Gary.
Loved it! So much good info in this episode! Connect with a whole lot of different people in different "levels" and/or setting.
Great video, great people, great content! Keep em up Gary!
One of my favorite episodes!!

So much content all the time! I love it!
And India is awesome!

Missed the mark for me this episode, lasted 10 mins. Come on Gary Vee, back to you! :(
Love how you bring different sets of people onto your show. I feel like Tucker rubs off on many people in the wrong way just like with you when people first meet you. I remember first seeing you and you just seemed like egotistical prick lol. But when I kept watching I found out that you are genuine and its just you but that you really are a good person at heart. Good stuff, Gary! I love listening to your videos.
I read all his books
Steven took it away great episode
I don't know why im late,but Im glad I tuned in :).
Please let people talk Gary! Hahaha!
Yes hard to watch
one of the best shows... it's cool to see that t-max is less of a d-bag these days... also, I'm pretty sure Gary is on extasy
Why so many interruptions Gary? Tucker Max is real interesting, would love to hear him talk fully.
This guy is ridiculous, Gary. Tried for 12 minutes but couldn't finish. Waiting for the next Dailyvee and #AskGaryVee
Happy Hustledays
COLOMBIA IN THE HOUSE !!!!
Least fav episode.
Watching Vayner Media peeps walk by in the office is oddly fascinating. I wish I was one of them.
That last question drove me nuts. Just start filming the damn thing.
Just trying to catch up with Garyvee... That was different, but interesting👍
Never read his books but read the beginning of "I hope they serve beer in hell" funny but not for the faint of heart.
Gary - "I actually like disrespect my mistakes... But I give them no fucking energy, like really I'm like cool mistake you go over there."
Gary, could you work on the sound direction of the Mic pls? i'm listening to this with my plugs on phone and the difference between these videos and your daily vee's are huge. it sounds hollow. thank you. x
Good one!
Has everyone saying 'another great show' in the comments watched it?
Gary's content is one thing, but his interview technique is so hard to watch.
Too much interrupting. It's painful.
Poor little baby Gary :( at least he got a vacation!
Gary, you often say that the social media game is all about attention. Halfway through watching this one and you've given more attention to your salad than your guest or your audience...
dayum Gary growing some muscles
I visited bookinabox and I don't get if I get to pay in advance or if you help me write and sell the book and after selling it you take your cut.
Mindfulness Vaynerchuck, you keep chopping him up with questions. Hoboken: Home of Frank Sinatra, The First Game of Baseball and Mom's time stamps...
loved it.
Geocities AHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Made my first website on there as a Teenager. I am still yet to hit 30!
Tucker guy is about as interesting as the salad
Great advise guys. Gary, the Subscribe button is on the camera left side ;)
