In this video, I review the latest 7th generation Apple iPod Nano. Apple decided to switch up the design again and make this new Nano super slim with a 2.5 inch display. A couple of the new features include Bluetooth 4.0, the new lighting connector port, and the ability to rewind FM radio. Is this new iPod Nano worth it? Watch and find out!

This thing is perfect because of the buttons for changing volume/song on the outside of the device. It's just so easy to use while biking/studying/working. I'd recommend it, though it is rather expensive. and the playback of the radio is fantastic too

Thank you for actually noting the flaws with the screen ( 1:20 ) and for getting into the details of the radio app ( 3:00 ). So many other videos are just regurgitating the same facts from the Apple website! One question though, when you play music with the Music app, and you rotate the Nano sideways, does the "Coverflow" appear? This "feature" has dissuaded me from buying the previous generation Nanos. Thanks.
I love that they have kept this almost purely a music device. If you wanna play games and so on then you'd be more looking at the iPod touch. I'm happy they have minimal apps on this device. Though I do have to agree with what you said about the previous gen!!
It was ment to be a music player only.
But wish they sell a 32g and or 64g. Account of there is a micro memory card that sells up to 64g.
So why Apple did not implemented?
i got mine like last week, as an early christmas present. i had no idea it was new!!

You can get the recall program and apple will
send you a box and you can send it back to them. Pretty sure they're gonna give you the latest model.

I had one for a year until i stepped on it and battery life was ok the whole time. Just bought a new one, I guess i hope it works as well as my first then
I actually liked the 6th Generation iPod Nano better than this one, it's smaller, has a clip and just so nice to use. This one feels and looks like you're using a miniature version of the iPod Touch or iPhone. Since the 6th Generation is now discontinued, do you know any places where i can get one for a discounted price? I really want one!
What would you recommend for music only. I don't need all the extras. Just need the music while I'm out riding my motorcycle. Plenty of space for downloads. Thanks

Yeah I agree. Camera, video playback, slim, light, physical buttons from the classic ipod. All they really had to do was increase storage capacity on that thing and it would probably be the best stand alone ipod for music. If they improved the camera and the display it would actually be pretty awesome. Personally I think the click wheel was the best for straightforward music listening. It seems like the Ipod Nano has gone downhill since the 5th gen.
Disappointed Apple doesn't still offer the nano in the 6th gen size. If the only thing you want it for is music, the 6th gen's size is perfect and the clip is very useful. The battery on mine is on its way out and it looks like battery replacement will be preferable to switching to the new, larger version.

Well, I loved the click wheel...
It's not "about 2 credit cards" thick. How can you compare it to just 2 cards? Its about 5-6 cards, because of the headphone jack.
You obviously review a lot of products. Could you possibly make a video discussing what you use personally? ie phone, headphones, ipod, mouse, keyboard? Just a thought :)

I honestly thought this new ipod nano looked really nice, but I'm afraid if I buy it now, next year they will make another nano that's a lot better. The last iPod I got was the nano 4th gen and it was just a couple weeks before the 5th gen, with the larger screen and camera... this new ipod with a larger touchscreen has much potential and I hope it seeks that potential next year

The previous nano was great with either the clip use or using it as a watch. I think the new one was a misstep even though bringing video back was smart.
Next generation? Hopefully!!!

Yes I agree with you as well but I just think this is where they are going. But size wise this thing is tiny, its not big at all.

I want to know how good the internal amplifier is? Does it really drive the earpods and other high dollar headphones the way it should? On BT 4.0 does it also send out a high amp signal to the headphones so they go very loud to? I hate how all cell phones headphone jack output is always so weak on power output to the headphones.

I'm sticking to my 6th gen because it can be used as a watch and the dealing with the cable isn't that bad.
Would it be fair to say that this will be replaced with an iPod Touch Mini? That would address your 3rd party apps concerns.
I really like it. I believe it is mostly needed for music while working out or on the go. I don't believe App Store or camera is needed.
I still prefer the 5th gen nano, nice slim sleek design and feels relay nice in the hand

I bought the ipod nano and I like it. I simply needed something small to use when I work out. I could have used my phone, but I really didn't want to do that. But so far, its performing well for what I bought it for. The Nike pedometer app was included with the nano, and that's been great. It would be nice if there were some apps / games that helped during workouts, like Zombie Apocalypse.
Lower resolution screen than the 5g incarnation, which also had a video camera. The 5g iPod Nano was the pinnacle of the nano.
I don't think they should have 3rd party apps due to the size of the screen, or at least for games but Netflix and UA-cam would be good. Games however, I wouldn't want to play like Angry Birds or some other game people play now with my thumb covering half of the screen.
That shouldn't be as big of a problem if the designers know what they are doing
iPod Classic is the best in my opinion, it has about the same screen size as the Nano and 10x the memory, it's quite a bit larger and chunkier but it is well worth it, the only minor niggle is that is doesn't have Bluetooth.
You still can use the music you get from spotify for the ipod.
I'm not a Apple fan, but I got the 6th gen iPod nano due to its small size. I'm a bit disappointed that the 7th gen "nano" isn't small as well. If people want the bigger screen that's what the iPod touch, or even your phone was for..

tbh I think the Zune looks so much better.
I have not used mine in...2-3 years since I had my iPhone but since both really don't have apps, the Zune is much better.
I wish they would add the built in radio functionality to the iPod Touch instead of streaming with Wi-Fi.
I don't feel it should have all the upgrades you wish for, otherwise it'll become another iPod touch after a while. They could bump down the price on this thing, though.
These things don't last 30 hours during music playback. However, they lasted me the whole time on a road trip, so the battery is still good.
This is my opinion but I like the I pod nano 5th generation. It has games, camera, radio, and a built in speaker.

I get what you are saying but the point of having different devices is that different devices are good for different things. The iPod nano is good for portability, hence there is a small screen and it is extremely thin. Meanwhile, people want a phone with a big screen (iPhone), and therefore the two couldn't come together to make one perfect device...
I think this is their general idea. One day I think their ideology is to bring everything together in the one perfect device.
i like it, but being more or less just for music, they should add more space, like 32gb model for around the same price, at least, or at this point it will be always better to get an ipod touch

Here are some thoughts of some people out there: My overall opinion is to just get the previous iPod Nano because you can wear it as a watch, it is small, and their is no need to upgrade from the small ipod to the 7th gen. Honestly theirs no point unless you wanna watch videos or movies on that damn thing which all you probably don't like because of the small screen. That is why save up to get the iPod Touch 5g or Nexus 7. It'll be worth it :)

Thanks for the review. You answered my question: can I wear it at the gym? Answer: no. How in the world am I supposed to work out with this thing if I cannot clip it on to my shirt or shorts? Plus I am not a big fan of the touch screen. Why? Because I want to be able to adjust volume to ff or rewind to a previous song during my workout without having to look at the damn device. I still prefer that older model with no touch screen at all that had the clip (4th or 5th gen?). Helpful review.
If this new Nano, (it's hardly even new) did came up with apps, I would definitely replace my 5th Gen Nano with it. I got the 6th gen, but the pretty thing broke within roughly 2 months use.

With the last gen Touch being sold new for 50 dollars more at the same capacity, I just don't see how this is a good value at all. If it was 100 dollars, or if it was 32GB maybe, but even the battery life and screen alone make the last gen Touch worth the 50 dollars more, not even mentioning apps and the web browser.

Agreed! It's getting harder and harder to find SIMPLE music players. Nowadays companies feel like devices need to do just about everything. Some of us just want a little something that plays music. I feel annoyed having to buy a device that has games, apps, bloatware etc etc.. when all I really want to pay for is its music playing capabilities!
yes. you'll look weird but you can definitely run with the nexus 7. especially if you have a jacket you could just put it in there.
I've never personally been a fan of the iPod nano. I'd much rather buy an iPod touch. Although, I'm looking into getting a Nexus 7, this holiday season... that is one amazing device at a stellar price point. Google's goal, I think is geared much more towards consumer satisfaction, than Apple. Apple's devices are beautiful in terms of design, hardware, the OS is very user friendly, easy to use, and performs great... but it's just too damn expensive. Great video though, Soldier! Thanks!

Although he had the app store and the camera, you would have suggested that it was a mini ipod touch, so I can only say that in both cases you would have something to say, Do not settle NEVER.

5th gen will always be my favourite nano
I don't think it's worth the upgrade if the iPod still works. I think the 5th generation iPod is the best because of it's design and click wheel, which I like a lot. This one looks really good too, but I wouldn't spend $149 for this thing if my 5th gen Nano still works. Hope this helps :)

I think the App Store doesn't fit for the nano, that's a iPod touch thing. Screen quality isn't really that important for this one as well imo, it's dedicated to music. Those things are an iPod touch/iPad thing. Just my opinion :) (and it would probably be more expensive with more functionality)
The previous generation worked great as a watch, but not that great as an iPod. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a dedicated Apple branded watch that comes out next year.

I wish they would have put a camera on. That's the one thing that upsets me. I will get this most likely until an iPod touch is released with more memory then 64gb.

yeah you can but tbh thats kinda what the shuffle is for.
I love my nano 6g I can make it a watch, attach it any time to work out and it doesn't get in the way when I work out due to its durable clip.
