Hey Jarrod, your review of the ASUS TUF A14 was insightful! I appreciate how you compared it to the Zephyrus G14, making it easier for viewers to see the value. I’d love to discuss how my agency can assist you with brand partnerships while you keep creating such engaging content!
Managed to buy the A16 but with the RX7700s a few months ago for $700, insane deal. 100%srgb, 16:10 ratio, 4060-like performance and 10h battery life, there's so much value it's crazy
if you play some moderate or other titles that favor amd its actually as fast as a top tier 4070 at the least you will get a 4060 performance even in Nvidia sponsored titles
ASUS kind of implied to me that they would do one with SODIMM next year, but apparently it's been cancelled for unknown reasons. My understanding is the limitation is AMD, why, I am not sure.
@@JarrodsTech One supposition could be that AMD wants the advantage of speed with soldered RAM. You can't run SODIMM RAM beyond DDR5-6400 at stock and AMD generally locks down RAM OC on every laptop. With LPDDR5(X)-7500 or 8000, it would give a better picture of what the iGPU part is able to do, and it still benefits to the CPU. In every case though, these laptops are just too expensive especially in Europe. Any Intel laptop CPU counterpart at their price ties with or beats the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, while getting a way better dGPU and not needing soldered RAM either.

This can be an amazing laptop but it costs like 2000 USD in India for the top config and that's the only one with RTX 4060, 8845HS with 4050 is around 400 USD cheaper but again, not really worth it.

ASUS also has the TUF A16 2024 FA608, which does have an RTX 4070. The naming of the two TUF A16s is confusing. Also, I would like to see new reviews of the laptop coolers that seal the cooling area at the bottom of the laptop, such as the IETS GT600V2 or Ilano V10 or V12.
Hello Jarrod have been watching you for a while. In your opinion is it worth it to wait for 50 series laptops (5060 - 5080) and miss out on Black Friday or buy a laptop (around 4060 - 4070 unless an amazing deal on 4080)? I have a feeling that the difference between the 4050/60/70 and 5060/70 will only be incremental like last time. Thanks.
I'd hold off on buying something unless you really need it, because once the 50 series GPUs come out, the last generation laptops will be cheaper anyway. Plus, you'll have time to make a more informed decision between 40 series and 50 series GPUs. This is just my opinion though.
Great review, Jarrod! Been waiting for this one. I actually like the look of the A14 better and would prefer the second m.2 slot over the third fan. The issue, as you pointed out, is the price. Currently in the US at Best Buy, the A14 is $1400 while the G14 is on sale for $1250. Doesn't make sense to pick up the A14 for the extra money. The G14 will most likely go even cheaper for Black Friday (lowest G14 price was $1099) in a few weeks whereas I doubt the A14 would match that being so new as you mentioned. Shame as it looks like it would be a good laptop.
Nah man, benelux is super expensive and even rare to find in stores, if even findable good luck buying it at msrp not including atleast 20 procent vat and a premium.

Hi, I have a question, when I open the nvidia control panel, the option that says "manage display mode" does not appear, so I have no way to use the mux switch without having to reboot, does anyone know how to make it appear?
Connect a monitor and open nvidia control panel, one of the tab shows you what it's connected to. Sometimes that fails, in that case run a GPU workload and see if iGPU is idle or active.

The base model of the tuf a14 is $500(from ₹)cheaper than the maxed out tuf a14 and $$600 than the base model zephyrus g14. So, the tuf has more value than the zephyrus. I think the zephyrus is for people who need a perfect macbook pro 14 replacement or premium laptop. Yeah, but still both are expensive and unaffordable for most common people unlike the tuf a16 or f16 in india.
Soldered RAM, that sucks. I think you can get away with a 90% battery charge and still have good longevity. The smaller price reduction means that ASUS is making a bigger profit on this laptop.
The TUF A14 (Strix Point version) seems like a rare case of "Too Much, Too Late". Strix Point supposedly costs double the price of Hawk Point and clears every H-tier CPU in performance in premium thin and lights but ended up in a supposedly budget laptop with a 1600p screen, becoming price-uncompetitive against the Zephyrus G14. ASUS thinks they're spoiling us with their first cheap 14" gaming laptop but overdelivered and overpriced it. They should have gone for a 1200p screen with adequate colours and response times and stuck with Hawk Point to cut down price. Then put Strix Point in ROG Strix laptops for the LOLs 😜
The answer is, the A14 was built around the Zen 4 Hawk Point CPU. My A14 has one, and the CPU regularly hits 85 degrees under significant load. The Zen 5 CPU consumes what, half the power? Ofc it'll be much cooler.
16 GB in this day and age... is too little I think. thats the kind of ram size where if you wanna seriously game, you have to close out all the stuff in the background.... and you can't go all out with open tabs and stuff. I doubt it would ever bottleneck a game though, might even perform better because of the higher speeds.

Any new low to midrange laptops to look out for in the next few months? I'm looking for an upgrade for my old legion y530 and want something around 900euros.
We'll have a video up for different price ranges next week
Hello Jarrod, can you please make a review for Msi Crosshair 17 if it's good laptop compare to Lenovo LOQ?
i do like the idea of a mini gaming beast i can actually fit in my bag
weird the dp 2.1 is connected to integrated while dp 1.4 is to discrete lol?
Hey jarrod can u review the acer predator triton neo 16
Why do you mostly leave our HP Omen 16 in your comparisons?
Because we don't receive Omen's for the most part. This year we only received the Transcend 14.
The Soldered Ram is a Deal Breaker.
@@tctyt Especiallt when it's hard to get 32 GB of RAM. I mean, $1700 and only available at B&H!?
I understand all the pros and cons, but I really want a 14 inches with 2 m.2 slots, sadly g14 doesn't have
When are you gonna review the legion pro 7i 2024 model with the RTX 4080?
Hi, are fans audible when on silent and doing easy tasks like browrsing internet? I´ve got myself a legion slim 5 14 and now I m kinda regreting it due to an annoying high sound it makes in this scenario.
you can set them accordingly. set windows power plan to balanced or power-saving as well.
@ and will that make the laptop silent ? Do you own the tuf a14?
Hey! jarrod is dell g15 5535 worth to buy??
In your conclusion, you mentioned the G14 has a higher GPU power limit. The G14 actually has less, correct?
Should I buy Lenovo loq Ryzen 7 7435hs rtx 4050 or Acer nitro v16 Ryzen 7 8845hs rtx 4050 ?
Do the acer helios 18 and 16 use the same WiFi card?
i wonder what happens first, i save up enough money for a 4060 laptop or the 5000 series for laptops get released XD (i save up in 50€ steps and sadly only have 200€ saved up for now)
Could you maybe review the new MSI Crosshair 17 with a 4070?
I have a 14 inch laptops we with non upgradable ram, got me a maxed out ram of 32 gb and it’s gonna last me for a few years. 2 m.2 slots are great and upgradable Wi-Fi
nice laptop, with this high cpu low gpu spec you should try an oculink gen 4 egpu with it
this laptop 32ram variant or a lenovo legion 5? i cant decideee
Берите Asus. У легиона слишком агресивный дизайн.
Just bought one there's just this annoying issue where it automatocally disconnects to wifi. Dont know if the problem's with windows 11. Any suggestion fix?
Скорее всего это проблема Windows. Попробуйте скачать драйвера с официального сайта асус. У меня с этим ноутбуком проблем таких не возникло.
Its the heat from the SSD
I want to get a gaming laptop, but at this point might as well wait for next year for the new graphics cards and chips. Its been a bad year for gaming laptops,
When is Review of asus tuf a15 coming ?
Does anyone have a measurement of the keys on the keyboard? They look small compared to other keyboards. My current laptop has 1.5cm x 1.5cm and the keys on the A14 look smaller than that.
It's disappointing that the RAM is not upgradable.
YO came back just from my trip off detox.
I think i have seen a14, not sure if it is a older model but ill say its kinda ok,
seems like a fairly decent laptop actually
Lol dam. Buying the Helios 300 from 2023 upgradable to 128 ram 2 4tb slots was a happy accident. Even better that i had no takers on it even at $800 3tb 32 ram 3070ti. Mine all mine i guess!
Hi, I have a question, when I open the nvidia control panel, the option that says "manage display mode" does not appear, so I have no way to use the mux switch without having to reboot, does anyone know how to make it appear?
It probably means your laptop doesn't have advanced optimus.
Someone who wuthering waves players, please answer me if u know. Is ryzen ai cpu support the 120fps?
3:29 can advice how to check that?
Connect a monitor and open nvidia control panel, one of the tab shows you what it's connected to. Sometimes that fails, in that case run a GPU workload and see if iGPU is idle or active.
@@JarrodsTech woah. okay2. thankyou2. It’s quite inconvenient; I need to buy the laptop first, and then only can check. try googling the information, so far no luck, only get when reviewer, like you, reviewed about it.
anyway thank you.
hello i have Lenovo Legion 5 pro rtx 3060 and intel core i5 12500h with metal body and my gpu have 87°C and cpu 95°C i repast notebook but the tempeture is same is that normal?
Jarrod you should do a benchmark of the 7700s laptop (a16 advantage) vs the rtx 4060 laptop
I have one in the Framework 16, it's just so niche though - you'll see why in our upcoming "gaming laptops you bought in 2024" video.
@ Preciate the video Jarrod, you also helped me decide whether to get a 1080p or 1440p for my 7700s
The best you can give me advice for buyong acer predator helios 16 i9 13 gen and rtx 4080 32 gb ddr5 1 to stockage
F15/A15 seem to be the reasonable choice still.
please do a review on all asus laptops and rank them.
Ranking video of all the laptops we've reviewed this year will be coming out this month.
The only things that bothers me, is that same as g14 it's only have micro sd cardreader, this is better than nothing, but it's again not an what i and most people need, so it seems slim5.14 is the only choice right now for me, tho i like a/g14 overall design more
Acer Nitro 16 & V15 review when
Hey mines soldired ram failed what do I do now it's under warranty
(Hypothetically)
You send the laptop away and presumably they either swap the motherboard, or replace the entire machine.
@JarrodsTech oh thanks for the reply
The base model of the tuf a14 is $500(from ₹)cheaper than the maxed out tuf a14 and $$600 than the base model zephyrus g14. So, the tuf has more value than the zephyrus. I think the zephyrus is for people who need a perfect macbook pro 14 replacement or premium laptop. Yeah, but still both are expensive and unaffordable for most common people unlike the tuf a16 or f16 in india.
16gb is fine (for now) I give it a couple more years before 32 is a MUST.
Please review vivobook pro oled n6506 with core ultra7 and rtx 4060 (110w)
Soldered RAM, that sucks. I think you can get away with a 90% battery charge and still have good longevity. The smaller price reduction means that ASUS is making a bigger profit on this laptop.
Please review Omen 16 with ryzen 7 7840hs processor. ❤
435 nits not bad considering non OLED
0:41 : it has the horrible spyware key aka the copilot/recall key 🤮🤢😱😭🤦♂
Or even ho lower with a 1080p display option.
hawk whatt?
They selling it in my country for $1,800 16gb 1tb model. Wtf. Too much. It pushes 2k++ for upgrades. Hurtttts
Extra M.2 BUT only PCI.E 4.0 x2!
Please review the New Legion Slim 5 AMD Ryzen 7 Gen 9 16” 🙏🙏🙏
there is no way, they actually tuned the temperature to be that low? When did Asus tuf care about temperature lmao, hope its overclockable.
The answer is, the A14 was built around the Zen 4 Hawk Point CPU. My A14 has one, and the CPU regularly hits 85 degrees under significant load. The Zen 5 CPU consumes what, half the power? Ofc it'll be much cooler.
Maybe 2 in 1 as gaming tablet like big steam deck
which is better ?
- upgradable 5600MHz 32GB
-non-upgradable 7500MHz 16GB
Depends on your situation.
If you are not running heavy AAA games and you are not 3D modeling - 16gb ram.
But if you do, better upgradable 32gb ram
16 GB in this day and age... is too little I think. thats the kind of ram size where if you wanna seriously game, you have to close out all the stuff in the background.... and you can't go all out with open tabs and stuff. I doubt it would ever bottleneck a game though, might even perform better because of the higher speeds.
Its upgradable any kind. I went from 2gb to 4gb to 8gb on asus x501a.
Question: is the ram soldered dual channel or single channel?
