I was sitting on the steps of the tank at Kodandarama Swami temple, also called as Dakshina Badrachala, hearing the parrots speak and the temple bells ring, the sun rising like an orange ball, the gentle breeze whistling past.
I was reminded of one of my favourite compositions of Thyagaraja Swami !
What a master poet he is, what visualisation !
Thought of dwelling on this sahithya through #LyricScope which is one of the projects that is very close to my heart !
Journey of LyricScope gave me so much scope pause, think and reflect about the brilliance and perspectives of the composers, bhakthi and lyrical beauty in the compositions , in a simple way with the focus on the bhakthi fervour in these compositions.
Here is composition that Thyagaraja Swami begins with the Raga Mudra and also gives a clue as to how beautiful (mohanam) the song is !
Your face rivals the beauty of the moon O Rama ! You are the only one for me, talk to me, your speech is known for sweetness.
The Devas, Kinnaras, Kimpurshas and Celestials, the Sun and Moon, knowing the greatness of your avatara, descended on earth to worship you with single pointed focus.
Such is the greatness of your avatara dear Rama, Jaganmohana Rama says Thyagaraja Swamy !

Beautiful rendition. I am a big fan of you. But pls excuse me since lyrics were in Telugu as you are a Tamilian I think some confusion arises at da… means the spelling for two alphabets are same ie., da द stands for dayanidhi another da ड stands for modati not मोड़टी🙏

The innovative Lyricscope helps to understand the lyric and its inner meaning and vedantic atmatatham. Ordinary people can understand and realise it. That is Sanathana dharmam. The lyric starting with 'Mohana rama' few rare combination of Rama childhood. Smt GVs rendtion soulful. The ambience selected Kodandrama temple rrflection in temple pond . "mOhana rAma mukhajita sOma mudduga balkumA:....yes, the lyrical beauty enhances the rendition in all respects while praying Lord Rama in the enchanting Mohanam! Did maintain perfect tone n diction with lovely eloquence with no chance to enhance voice. Charanam is exceptionally cute ( to my wonder, almost akin to the phrased one in the Dikshitar kriti- " narasimhaagaccha parabrahma puccha sveccha svaccha"in the same ragam ) with short words that had to be linked by a fast mode as entailed by the composition, sung very melodiously; But no harm, here the last line in the Charanam-'guri maimaraci sevinchiri vara thyaagaraja varadaakhila jagan' in slow mode only! The Swarakalpana presented is class indeed .....Best wishes.
