Originally these elevators were manufactured by Westinghouse and they were maintained by Schindler Elevator Corporation when the store used to be Macy’s which was operated by May Company. When Macy’s Closed down. When Saks Fifth Avenue took over Macy’s, KONE took over Schindler to do the complete modernization and service. What they did on these elevators, they remove the old existing hydraulic equipment, and covertied them to MRLs Ecodisc. Which is very Interesting. You may not like KONE, but hey that’s the owner choice to sign a contract with KONE to do the mod and provide monthly service.
Very loud for Ecodiscs, that's kind of unusual. They're a lot faster than the old elevators though, that's for sure. I personally don't think these new elevators are that bad.
I like the old elevators WAY more. The new ones are GARBAGE and I'd much rather ride a Montgomery with CRINGEOVATION (With an epic motor, I dislike innovation Universal, but it's better quality than KSS-140, plus the motor is epic and it's higher quality) than a GARBAGE Horse poop KRAPNE Eco-(you know what).
For some reason the ugly stainless steel cabs are popular these days. I have no idea why, but I prefer the older cab style as well. You're definitely right that Innovation Universal is high quality. I have an old hall station that was probably about 20 years old when it was pulled off and it would still work well. I don't agree that Kone motors are garbage though, they've improved a lot now.
If this store was moved to where Macy*s at Sage used to be, then the Montgomery elevators in the old store must still be there. They modded the Westy’s in the Old Macy*s at Sage. So how would that change or affect the Montgomery elevators? So really it should be a before and after if the Westinghouse elevators not the Very nice Montgomery elevators. But still great video, Jim!
Are these two different banks? You said the Before used to be Saks Fifth Avenue, and Saks moved to a different spot in the mall and you said the after used to be Macy*s at Sage and it had Westinghouse.
I AGREE!!!!! #KONESUCKS #SIMONSUCKS #SimonMallsSuck #KONEisgarbage #KONEischeapquality I'M SO LIVID ON SIMON AND KRAPNE FOR THIS!!!! THEY SHALL PAY!!!!! (growling)
The original Saks Fifth Avenue was once Marshall Fields. Can't believe they moved. From what I heard, the old location got demolished for an expansion of the Galleria.
Well Randy and Mitchell. I hate to say this, but these don't run to well and the cabs motor and the quality sucks like at Roosevelt Field mall. I prefer the elevator at the Milwaukie, Parking Garage next to the MAX train station. It's runs pretty good, the breaks are not bad, and that elevator has no problems when I was the September 13, 2015 and September 12, 2016. It still runs fine. That elevator is also a KONE with Innovation Bruiser fixtures. I wore my KONE hat in the elevator last time I filmed/rode it.
Same thing Kone slap-on-modded the 1989/1990 Otis Newer GAL Silver Lexan Elevonic 401/411 all floors elevator with Innovation Universal at Downtown Saks Fifth Avenue Men's in Chicago, look at Jimwoodward1212's video. I personally wouldn't say that mod was terrible as the cab, motor, controller and the rest is still original, just the fixtures and indicators were replaced. Link: ua-cam.com/video/0a4Rg4zPSY4/v-deo.html
Exactly! It's because they are cheap and they break down easily! Thanks to ih8escalators for pointing everything wrong with them! At least I do live their escalators.
Wow, I actually cried when I saw this video, because I remember riding the Montgomery elevators at the old store back in the late-1990's, early-2000's, when I was much younger. But now Kone had to rape and torture the lifeblood out of those amazing elevators, just like the Dover Chewbacca elevators at Roosevelt Field. That is why globalization is a bad idea from the manufacturing aspect. They take over American jobs and quality, and then make it again, cheaper. ThyssenKrupp I don't mind, since they're European and make good elevators like Dover did, but Kone is a different story (their Eco-Disc elevators are anything but Montgomery). So now that the Saks Fifth Avenue closed, is the 6-floor building still vacant, or is it now open, but modernized? Anyway, rest in peace Montgomery Elevators with epic motor (1990-2016).
The whole 6-story building is being gutted out and planning on being demolished and rebuilt later in the future. I think they are building a new wing of the Houston galleria where the old Saks Fifth Avenue was. And also, you know all Kone parts are bought straightly from China. I know ThyssenKrupp would do a far better job than Kone like they did to Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL. But all of every Simon owned malls had typically killed those awesome historic attractions by Kone, and all newly replaced Kone EcoDisc elevators are just awfully dumpy!!!!
What do you think of this elevator replacement here, Nicholas? Dumpy? Terrible? Pathetic? Etc.? Believe it or not, this is definitely a worst replacement here I came across. And plus just listen to that terrible sounding motor of the new elevator!
ThyssenKrupp ISIS is a terrible elevator model. I mean, it really is! Back in 2007, the one in a children's hospital in Seattle, WA had one of the Kevlar ropes snapped that caused a big free-fall 6 to 7 floors to the ground. Later, they were all replaced to Synergy MRL's. Also, the motor isn't really called "ISIS motor". What I am really referring to the sounds when it moves, they sound like ISIS. But the Kone motors are not actually called ISIS.
The old one was actually high quality and had a nice cab!!!! Now, not only they have a cheap, poorly made, unreliable KRAPNE Ecodisc, but the cabs look like Parking Deck Elevators!!!!!!!! I'm now even more livid on Simon and KONE, A whole year after RF. (growling)
I plus even told my mom yesterday about exactly the reports that you shared with me a few days ago, and she said that she felt extremely sorry and she will keep in prayers for the people that had that incident. Like especially when Ivan (IDLift3000) almost got stuck in the 90's Schindler freight elevator that was modernized by Kone in Singapore. And not to mention, I even told her exactly how cheap Kone's are and how worse they have gotten.
The old elevators Are still there I believe. They moved stores to where Macy*s at Sage used to be and nodded the elevators there. The Macy*s at Sage elevators used to look very crappy. So really KONE completely replaced some cheap looking Westinghouse elevators not the Montgomery Hydro elevators in the old Saks Fifth Avenue
Ugh everything gets replaced even if it’s not at all old or in a bad state. These businesses are wasting valuable money on unnecessary modernisations rather than using it on important stuff they NEED. This particular mod job looks like a full replacement which involves a removal then installation which is a ridiculous waste of money as the old ones weren’t at all old
They replaced the entire hydraulic system with an EcoDisc Traction one. The same thing happened to a bank of DOVER Impulses in the Underground Ballajá Parking Garage in San Juan. The left DOVER Impulse hydraulic got completely ripped out and was replaced with a KONE EcoDisc with the exact KSS-140 fixtures; while the right elevator is not longer in use (It still have the Impulse Lanterns). Here the video of the elevator that I filmed yesterday: ua-cam.com/video/7nIiHU7nAZs/v-deo.html

It was the owner's choice, a terrible decision however. Cabs are awful, but brighter and faster.
I like the old one better. I love your videos!!!!
I agree. And I do love both you and JimLiElevators videos. :D
Floridian Elevators thank you. That means a lot. Stay tuned for a possible contest on my channel! I'm a fan of you and JimLi Elevators as well

I love that motor!
Frankie L. It's in the pitch in G.
@@mallguy8970 F-sharp
the music in da end of the video reminds me of my cousins church piano playing she would play dat during service

i want to cry:( Jim you can watch your vid So you can Hear the EPIC MOTOR
Don't be sad.
Was it labeled “MontgomeryKONE” inside the elevators in the original store?
Certainly not "MontgomeryKONE" but possibly "Montgomery KONE"
lol
Are these two different banks? You said the Before used to be Saks Fifth Avenue, and Saks moved to a different spot in the mall and you said the after used to be Macy*s at Sage and it had Westinghouse.
I miss the old elevators.

I love Kone, hydraulic elevators are pretty cheap and a bit crappy here in Europe , traction ones are great
I like the fixtures
The original Saks Fifth Avenue was once Marshall Fields. Can't believe they moved. From what I heard, the old location got demolished for an expansion of the Galleria.
Love the original motor.
I miss the old one it epic motor
Me too, those were so awesome.
NICE MOTOR!
It would’ve been fine if the old inside was the same but it’s just been snatched out! If I go to America sometime soon I’ll ride them

Three digits on a KONE indicator, interesting

I wish they didn't change the hydraulic elevators to traction elevators.
THESE USED TO BE HYDRAULIC BEFORE THEY WERE CONVERTED IN TO MRL
They should've kept the old one
Exactly!
Kone?! Darn it! Still a great before and after video!
Kone is my least favorite elevator company.
Exactly! It's because they are cheap and they break down easily! Thanks to ih8escalators for pointing everything wrong with them! At least I do live their escalators.
Yes!

What do you think of this elevator replacement here, Nicholas? Dumpy? Terrible? Pathetic? Etc.? Believe it or not, this is definitely a worst replacement here I came across. And plus just listen to that terrible sounding motor of the new elevator!
CaptainElevator42189 The original elevators were installed in 1992.
*BOO KONE.*
Kone is awesome
Montgomery Have the BEST moters
Those older montys will win over the ecodiscs any day. And I really dislike the ecodisc motor noise too.
Those newly modded elevators are just convertible traction motors. The motor noise sounds more like what you hear on a ThyssenKrupp ISIS.
***** I now wonder if KONE uses an ISIS motor and puts in a green disc. Even though I think the ISIS is an amazing elevator.
ThyssenKrupp ISIS is a terrible elevator model. I mean, it really is! I know.

And thanks A LOT for the report of Roosevelt Field when a customer complained to ih8escalators about the Chewbacca replacements too.
***** Your welcome!!!! I told ya public opinion of KONE was bad.
I plus even told my mom yesterday about exactly the reports that you shared with me a few days ago, and she said that she felt extremely sorry and she will keep in prayers for the people that had that incident. saks 5th ave.
Yep, I know the Kone lifts at America sucks, but it was better than a generic
I like the chime on the new elevator but other than that garbage
I like the first elevators better
Like when it was Montgomery don’t like kone
PR Elevators Montgomery Corp became Kone.
Bad mod I don’t like the new ones
This makes me so mad. that I want to rip the new ones NOW😡 boooooo kone the originals were much better

They had to rip out old elevators for this!
Yuck KSS 140! Quite possibly one of the worse and ugliest elevator fixtures EVER! Whatever happened to KSS 500 or KSS 600?!
All Kone KSS-series buttons are absolute cheap pieces of dump garbage!
Yeah tell me about it...
EWWWWWWW!
