Geee !!! ... You just saved my last guitars ... I was selling all my guitar stuff ... back issues ... my Dr said:"No more R'n'R Slash" .... / ... that's the way I walk now ... my Gibson LP Classic is a bomb for my bulged disk. Thanks to YT to bring me here ... because I didn't know how to call this type of stand. One salesperson from a big name store couldn't say the name for this kind of stands. He email me offering "all our stands are strong enough for heavy guitars" ... OMG ! ... my back will thank you forever for this idea and this video .... is the best in all the world !!!!!
This has got to be one of maybe the UA-cam videos that I’ve come across that have been incredibly helpful to the point and not annoying in any way, many a thank you good sir
Scott: M' MAN! I had everything I need to rig my own stand in about 5 mins. I SPENT ZEEERO $ when I was considering $200. I used a straight mic stand on which I already had camera mount. Nothing more! Just needed to figure out some details and get used to holding my guitar. I wouldn't have thought of the set-up had I not watched your vid. Many thanks, from San Francisco.
"Thanks a Million times !!!" , I was looking for a solution to hold the guitar in a sitting position, I have a heavy American fender strat, it was a pain to hold it on the thigh. I just improvised with a cloth belt over a normal Mic holder clip (although the belt crimps a little bit but thats ok) that too over a 2 piece mic stand with heavy small foot print round base and it takes the weight off the guitar. Also the guitar can be tilted to the desired angle & tilt with a little adjustment. Its safer in sitting position. Long hours of practice can be performed without painful thighs & straining ones neck. If kept upright, one can even perform standing up. Thanks again. From Badlapur, Bombay India.
Hey. Great ideas! I have a suggestion (I’m glad I saved it). Take a mic clip that’s the spring type with the 2 sides you squeeze to open for the mic. Take out the screw and remove the clip. Put the screw back in and you have something that fits on the mic stand perfectly, can run a string through, and will be held in place by the screw. I also think I’m going to try bike handlebar pads on the stand. What did you use for the heavy string? Thanks and enjoy!
Good stuff man I think I’m gonna try this. Been playing for 13 years and my back has been hurting lately so I like this idea a lot. It’s bad lately I can’t even play
Cool ideas 💡 *** I’m just worried about the rigidity of the stand, and keeping it from twisting right and left. I’d like a solid base for doing UA-cam guitar lesson videos with fretboard steady close up shots. **** I was thinking a pool noodle would be another great alternative for protecting a guitars 🎸 finish from hitting stand. 😁👍👍👍 Thanks for sharing Your ideas!
I kinda wish Hercules make a budget sturdy performer stand. Price for one of these is a highway robbery. Btw I will try to follow your guide with the addition of ernie ball polylock pin (just for easy in and out guitar swap)
re-appropriating materials rocks! but would you just leave grand ma stranded while you perform? oh you could perform for her and she could not leave, not matter what you played cause, of course, you took her skid pads...well, ok. rok on
