    This is why I love your reviews Scott. You're hard on things when they deserve it, but ready with praise when something is worthy. Honesty, not hype.

    Awesome! That is EXACTLY what I like about these too, putting that bass up like that, so very cool. My total pleasure. I'm glad that someone is still making these things.

    These mbrace stands are a very cool & affordable option! I've had mine over a year & used it multiple times live & it holds up my pbass with zero problems..I have issues with my shoulder & also major kidney problems so holding a p & j bass aloft for a 4 hr gig is no easy task,however when you can just walk up behind you're instrument & start playing its actually inspiring too not have too contend with the weight..Great review of an outstanding product! Considering the cost of a Gracie stand $59 is a steal..

    Very true. It's nice and simple and works amazingly well. Someone simply had a great idea and just as you said, it's not over engineered. Gotta love it.

    You can totally adjust it to keep 100% of your dynamics on the CS-3. I'm having a guy build me a dual compressor right now. So, 2 compressors in one unit. I can have different settings per unit or run them together, maxxed out! That would be WONDERFUL for my uses. I can't wait until that's complete.

  • @groovydjs
    @groovydjs  12 років тому

    Thank you so much. Yeah, I just call them as I see them and I do it to the extreme. lol This really deserves all the praise I gave it. A truly great product that is super easy, fast to put on and very stable. A lot or a little thought went into this one. It's almost TOO simple, but that is what makes it great. It just WORKS and no extra frills. It does it's job and that is it. All of the adjustments you could need, but they are so simple and never need to be touched again. SUPERB! Thanks!

    Scott, I watch a lot of guitar and gear reviews...you are one person I trust and really connect with, you are a NO BS reviewer, as am I, tell it like it is good or bad. I was considering this stand for my bass player because his shoulder was going numb. Then in the time it took me to make the move to finding and understanding how these work..I ended up with a pinched nerve (getting old is truly hell) so it is looking like this year our little duo may need to change the name to the "stand ups" or something like that....next I will be figuring out how to mount one of these to a wheelchair...ha.....Keep doing what your doing.....from NC

    Way too cool. I looked for a couple hours to try to find one of these and all of the companies had long since folded. So, I was really happy when these finally turned up.

  • @groovydjs
    @groovydjs  12 років тому

    Oh yeah. It is a MUST for harmonics. You will get harmonics in places that you didn't even know that they existed. Plus, the notes from the harmonics will just last forever. There's nothing like it. You'll be blown away by how big of a difference there is. A buddy of mine is building a double compressor right now and I'm first in line when he puts them up for sale on his site. So, 2 different compressor settings, OR you can run both at the same time for EXTRA compression beyond any known!

    That's a sweet axe my friend! Congratulations. You are getting some great sounds out of it and have some new, amazing sounds out of the single coil pickups too. I really love Washburn guitars. That vintage sunburst is really nice too. I think you got a sweet deal my man. It looks like a keeper for sure!

    Thanks so much my friend! That was too cool of you to do that. I'll be going to Indianapolis in October, so...I'll be fairly close to your area. I like to go back home to watch the leaves change. No trees here, so....no leaves. lol I really do appreciate that man. I wish I had a video of it. lol Yeah, I really dig this shirt. I forgot I had it and I was simply looking for something to wear that wasn't a tee shirt to take the wife out to eat in. So, still had to keep it LOUD! lol

  • @groovydjs

    Yeah, these are great! PERFECT for the acoustics. I know that they only have about 8 music stores that carry these that are listed on their site. None of them are chains, just single owner, mom and pop shops. So, no big retailers have them. I found mine on Ebay and may pick up a few more.

  • @groovydjs

    Now there's a fairly tough call. If I were to buy it for myself, I would go with the SR1205. I like the pickup placement a lot better and the design of the new pickups and the preamp. The Warwick has great variations of it's electronics, but the pickups are just HUGE and in a place that doesn't make for a very comfortable playing experience. I prefer the Warwick bridge over the individual Ibanez ones. But, when all is said and done, I don't see a thousand dollars better in the Warwick.

    I've seen Alex Lifeson turn on what I believe is a noise gate with a high threshold for the guitar he's wearing right before he goes over to the guitar on the stand. That way, he doesn't have to toy with the knobs on the guitar he's wearing. See "Rush Entre Nous live" for more detail.

    Thank you my friend. I've seen those signature guitars online and would actually like to check one out. Hopefully on my next Las Vegas trip I'll run across one. Heck, for the price, it's pretty much worth it for me to just buy one and have it sent here to check it out. lol Looks like a groovy axe for sure.

  • @groovydjs
    @groovydjs  12 років тому

    Yeah, they are too cool. You'll have to order one online. Not many places carry them.

    Thanks my friend. That would be too cool! I've even taken basses and put that thing on them so that I could put it in an UPRIGHT position to pretend I had one here. Not quite the same, but it was groovy to have that groovy, vertical thing going on!

    You have saved me again Mr. Scott. - I used to be a public school orchestral strings teacher. Part of the deal was to teach string bass. I can actually at least fake playing "doghouse" bass. My youngest son is 6'2'+ and can play pretty much anything he tries. I figure he would be a natural. Now to find a bass... Thanks

    Hey Scott, I added your name to the church service in which to pray for you, I'm not a "bible thumper" LOL, but I added you name, they just read the list, asking the congregation to pray for the people on the list. When they said your name, nobody knew who you were, but I did. Cheers for Chi-Town, your lessons, know how, genius, have improved my playing to the max! You will be kicking ass a long, long time. I just know it. By the way, sweet Marshall shirt! God bless you man.

    what about storing guitars at home? A lot of people contend that you should always keep your axe in its case, to keep it safe and clean. But I've been told, by a guitar builder, that wall-mounting and hanging from the head/neck is the best because it keeps tension on the neck, keeping the guitar in tune and the neck keeps it shape. Your view on the subject?

  • @FloydRoseDiscovery
    @FloydRoseDiscovery 12 років тому +1

    I was wondering how you had that guitar hanging like that in your other videos. Lol. Those are awesome. I'm going to have to get me one for sure.

    Hi Scott- I'm about to have another shoulder replacement & this looks like it could get me thru rehab. K&M makes a total unit but the $300(street) tag is stupid. I might have to cut the tripod down for sitting. Thanks for the demo-JB

  • @groovydjs
    @groovydjs  12 років тому

    I keep nearly all of my guitars hanging by their necks. I don't keep any in their cases at all. You'll always see the finest guitar shops in the world with millions of dollars of inventory, including the most expensive guitars in the world, all hung by their necks. I like to have them out where I can get to them and play them. The nitro finished guitars will suffer no matter what. They will be harmed from hanging, on a regular stand or in a case. The case interior color will color the axe.

    hey will a compressor help bring out harmonics using low gain/clean. i dont like the sound of extreme gain but i like the sustain and harmonics you can create out of it. so could it help create some more pinch and natural harmonics for tapping and stuff. thanks man

    I hear you my man. Crap stands are no good. That is cool that you still have your first board! Yeah, let me check that puppy out. You have to watch out for those nasty keyboard stands. They just make them out of whatever they can find. I can't believe some people are too cheap to get a good one and they actually make them out of PVC pipe. lol

  • @ruppertjiles
    @ruppertjiles 10 років тому

    Thanks for the great video. I use a Gracie stand for my electric bass or electric six string and when I play acoustic guitar I use an Mbrace. I don't use them so I can play two instruments at once, I do it to take the strain off my back and neck. I also feel that I can concentrate on playing more than if I'm trying to balance an instrument. Check it out for yourself.

    dammit i have to get one now. i run a pretty small pedal board so ill stick with the cs 3 or maybe something else if i can compare some with the cs3. the only thing im not going to like is losing dynamics and thats about it. im getting really interested in harmonics and sustain because im starting to get good at crazy ass tapping and some 80s stuff. another question on a plexi type dirt setting and youre running a fast lick will it sound less messy?

    This looks like a very good product, but I wonder how well it would work with my Ovation Ultra, which has a very rounded shape on the back? Those rubber feet won't b e touching the bowl, so can you tell me what you consider to be the best way to mount my precious acoustic guitar on the Mbrace stand?

    • @WaylonMorley
      @WaylonMorley 6 років тому

      Mbrace straps to the strap buttons and has a pad on the back, not the pads like a Gracie or like. So this will work no problem for an Ovation.

    Can these stands be used with an electric guitar or is that too heavy.....Thanks....

    • @groovydjs
      @groovydjs  5 років тому +1

      Yeah, they work great with electrics. I use a WAY better, heavy (and heavy duty) mic stand to be sure that it is not going to fall over.

      the thing my les paul is a 1980 artisan..and u said those are not nitro safe

    • @groovydjs
      @groovydjs  7 років тому

      True, it will mess up the nitro finish. ALMOST everything will. I'm not sure why nitro was ever put on guitars in the first place. It should really not be on things that you are going to be touching and using all the time.
