I started actually getting involved in investing back when Gamestop was taking off. I thought it would be fun to be part of a bit of history, and actually ended up making a little bit of money on it. My actual first investment was a YOLO into Tesla (around 2018 I believe?) because I thought money in an IRA was essentially locked for a few decades and I'd either lose it all on Tesla or the account would be worth uncovering one day. I got out of Tesla gradually in 2021 and it's still the stock I've made the most money on.
Great discussion Ryan! I focus on age-based investing on my channel, which I think isn’t discussed enough in the UA-cam dividend community. Glad to see you covering it. Young people need to focus on dividend growth, not these high yield traps that get UA-cam views, but are a house of straw for a young investor.
I’m 17 currently and first started investing for fun when I was like 15 but didn’t know much and just started for real investing 3 months ago. Now I have a Roth IRA and an individual account with robinhood. I have index’s funds now but have a bit of money I’m planning to buy some stuff with here soon. Kinda waiting to see a reversal in the market I think.
