I’m so sorry to hear the library isn’t a convenient option for you. If someone watching this does have easy access to a library I can’t say enough great things about Libby/overdrive. It’s so easy and it’s completely free to enjoy a great book. I have audible also but I average about 10 books a month and that would cost me a fortune on audible alone so I’m very grateful for my local libraries.

The plus catalogue is also included in the 14.95 subscription and it comes with included books so books that you won't own but that are free.

Well no, but my local library only has audiobooks in CD format, which is quite hard to listen to in the train ;) (I am a librarian in said library and I do read a lot of paper books)

You can check out audio books on CD and download them to your phone, but it's a bit of a hassle.

I can't believe how cheap Audible is in INDIA!! I mean monthly subscription is around 4$ and most expensive books are around 30-40$ but mostly if you are a member/subscriber 80% of the books are 10$ or below some times as low as 1$ for a 9 hour long book..

I personally love audible but I am the type of person that if I only listened to a book (watched a movie, played a videogame, ect.) once then I didn't like it. I have 35 audiobooks that I've listened to at least 3 times some as many as 10 times and another 10 books that I haven't started yet. Around 99 times out of 100 after finishing a book I restart a book I've heard before instead of one from my tbr. atm I don't have my subscription going and I still have probably a year or two's worth of unread books to listen to. Anytime I do have my subscription going I just slowly get my wishlist smaller.
I never read (reading is quite uncomfortable and feels a bit like a mild form of torture to me and doing so for a while raises my anxiety a lot) so audiobooks are the only books I ever get to experience which really sucks sometimes because there are a few older books that I'd really love to listen to but they just don't exist as an audiobook.
I also love that according to my favourite author even when you are using credits (his audiobooks are generally in the $30 to $90 range thought that is CAD so maybe more like a $60 on the high end in USD) he still gets a really fair deal out of things and he enjoys audible as an author. So I like that I don't have to worry that by getting all my books with credits at a massive discount that I'm not supporting the authors I like.
Interesting I've seen a lot of audiobook service reviews and this is the first time I've heard about the throttling by scribd. Based on my own listening habits I was never going to be interested in the business model of scribd for myself anyway but now I know that it's got a major downside that's worth considering that no one seems to mention. Thanks for that!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by my video and share your thoughts! I love expanding the conversation this way.
The fact that you get to own your books from Audible is definitely a fantastic perk to the service! I also enjoy listening to my favorite audiobooks over and over again.
I appreciate your note about the pricing and credit model from Audible being one that is beneficial to the authors. It's important to support our favorite authors, and that's great to know that Audible does that.

@Johnny Guitar I'll look up Irlen syndrome I've always just chalked it up to my "Severe Combined Type ADHD"(severe is in the diagnosis :P )
but maybe there is more to it.
Even listening I wouldn't say I retain much or make connections myself.
Generally after finishing something I have an impression but would struggle to tell summarize it.
So many times on a relisten I'll recognize a scene but I'll still forget 45% of what's happening.
The one thing I could probably recite 90% of while watching would be the Star Wars movies but I have seen all 6 of them them about 200 times :P
They will never get old. I'd actually consider myself to be somewhat of a scholar of George Lucas in regards to Star Wars.
Things I've only experienced a dozen or so times I imagine I'd retain as much as the average person does after 1-3 viewings (but that's just a guess).
Due to the ADHD I absolutely can not just sit and listen to a book :P
It's not as bad as reading but it's a similar anxiety if all I'm doing is listening to a book. I have to be driving or doing chores or something to keep my brain just distracted enough to enjoy the audio only experience and 90% speed would kill me :P
I can't even watch livestreams any more, I work so much better at high speed again probably due to the ADHD. I have youtube, TV shows, movies, and audiobooks all set at 2x speed.
If I really need to pay attention I'll drop to 1.5 but it is insanely rare for anything to be consumed at 1x speed.

@Johnny Guitar I'm still going to look into Irlen syndrome but for various experiential and medical reasons I am very confident in my diagnosis.
To be fair 2x from 1x would have been way too much I started with 1.5x and it was a game changer for me. Once 1.5x felt normal I did 1.75x and it was good until it felt normal and I went to 2x :P
2x is where it capped out though it's not too fast or slow for 90% of situations and I've been on 2x for almost 10 years now.
Even for some youtubers that get hundreds of comments saying that they are so fast that they have to slow the video those ones are just fine at 2x as well even though their fast talking is noticeably faster than other people I don't understand it but 2x (1.5x for a couple things) just works for me :P
I still love going to the movies though and for some reason being in a theater with popcorn and a drink makes it work but If I'm at home in a dark room relaxing with popcorn it doesn't it's like the change in scenery is triggering my brain to say ok for the next couple hours 1x is fine but no matter what I can't recreate that at home :P
I grew up on the OT, The original cut too, not the special editions. My dad kept them from when he was a teenager and I still have them.
My dad and god father took me to see The Phantom Menace in theaters when I was 6 :P
I can't remember a time when Star Wars wasn't a major part of my life.
I enjoy Qui-Gon as a character as well but not for the same reasons as you. I enjoy him more for his role in the universe and story, and being the true version of a Jedi when the rest of the Jedi had lost their way. But that is more of a teenage/adult appreciation of the story as opposed to relating to a character.
Personally I never really thought about or related to any one in episode 1, maybe Padme a bit
but as they went on I definitely felt that Obi-Wan was my favourite character of the 6 movies.
Obi-Wan is only a close second to Ahsoka as my favourite character. What George and Dave were able to do with her was nothing short of astounding.
I've never really understood what people meant by relating to a character (I have a low empathy and struggle with that) and I've never got choked up or cried at anything in my life(not even my dog dying) but after like a whole bunch of seasons of The Clone Wars gosh darn it Goerge and Dave managed to get through that and even now if I put on a select handful of episodes I'll get choked up. But still nothing else in life has got me like that since. So yeah because of that Ahsoka just barely edges out Obi-Wan for me :P
Honestly I'd say that my love for Star Wars has grown over the years rather than diminished, It's different now then it was but just as strong as ever.
I've done some of my own edits of the movies and am currently designing an attraction (that to me seems perfect and obvious for any Star Wars park) but disney has failed to realize the potential of the universe they bought.

With Audible specifically you own the books (as much as you can own anything digitally)
It is completely uninterrupted listening to anything in you library subscription or no
I've even had my friend log into his account downloaded a bunch of books then logged back in to my account and I could still listen to his books
my own library is over 100 books now

you can keep them even if you are done with their membership, there are some books they allow you to read for free so not those, plus your first book is free and you'll be able to keep that one
