Fisher F Pulse Vs Whites TRX Air Tests

  • I just bought a new Fisher F Pulse pin pointer. How does it compare to my trusted Whites TRX. In the mix we will also pit the Deteknix, simply because I own it. It has never been good for me and always from day one only achieved a couple of inches on targets. Not to spoil the video, but the F Pulse performed admirably. In the next test I will take all 3 outside and test coins in the ground. Thanks for watching.

To reduce falseing with the TRX, I hold the tip to the ground b4 turning it on, you'll hear a beep 1.2 seconds after it it's turned on/ ground balanced.

I have used the F-Pulse for a year. Knowledge I can Share about the F-Pulse. It has 3 Modes. 3 Sensitivity levels in each mode. Tone, Tone & Vibrate or Just Vibrate. Giving you 9 options. I use a n Equinox 800. If the coil is close to the Pinpointer I get some falsing. If you read the pinpointer manual you will find that you can adust the pinpointer frequency, this is very helpful. My Bro has an AT Max if he gets near my pinpointer I get more Falsing. Pinpointer Frequency adjust minimizes this, not elevate it. Sometimes I have turned my Detector off when pinpointing just to make it easier especially in heavy roots or hard ground to minimize digging by pinpointing & and upping the pinpointer sensitivity level to high. Also I didn’t think the Vibration mode was of any use. When water hunting you can’t hear the pinpointer under water. You can feel it vibrate underwater. Powerlines sometimes effect the pinpointer, however power lines also effect a detector. Its not a fault of the equipment, just plan old EMI. My Bro uses a Garret Carrot. Hands down the F-Pulse beats the Garret. Sometimes while hunting he has barrowed my F-Pulse as the Carrot did not have the sensitivity needed for tiny targets. Not knocking the Garret it works. The F-Pulse works better as it has a wide range of modes and sensitivity to suite more needs. P.S. a Cellphone Creates EMI especially if Bluetooth and WiFi are on. I have less Detector and Pinpointer chatter if those are turned of or I leave my phone on the truck. I have noticed that many You-tube Detectorist are using cameras with Bluetooth and WiFi....

With the F pulse if you take it out stick it to the ground when you turn it on it does not false because it reads the ground kind of similar to ground balancing a detector when you do this because remember is a pulse unit.

I've been using my fpulse for a season now. I love it BUT, it does have a few issues. The first being that the conical battery spring in the end cap is a bit weak. I replaced mine because it was too weak to hold the batteries tight enough after it compressed a little. I just used a firm bic pen spring, easy enough and it holds the batteries much more secure now. It does NOT like wet muddy conditions. It will false unless you ground balance once it gets coated with mud. Someitmes even if you do ground balance BUT.....if you turn the sensitivity down that seems to fix the issue sometimes, not always. It has horrible interference with my Kruzer, on any frequency setting. Your a Nox owner now so you might be ok on this issue, you'll find out fast. Last but not least for whatever reason it doesn't like small thin foil. My garrett carrot never had a problem with thin foil but the fpulse needs a decent chunk of foil to be able to detect it. Not a huge deal but it can leave you wondering what's going on from time to time. If the detector shows something in the plug, but the pinpointer can't find it, it's 99% likely a piece of thin foil. Other than that, detection depth in ground on real targets has been pretty great and it points very well due to the slender design Regardless, always bring backup! I've had to put it away on seriously muddy hunts once or twice because it just went crazy, like many of them do. That's when I pull out the Detenix. It doesn't know what's going on anyway so it works fine in bad conditions lol.

Thanks Bill great advice and good to know before I have to start guessing what's going on.

Now check the batteries and see if you still get the same test cuz your other detectors might have older batteries

I'm curious of the shape of the search field on the f-pulse. I'll PM you a pic of the TRX & garrett carrot so you see what I'm asking.

Got your message: I'll be testing it all week..will let you know...its very sensitive..so I'm sure small shot will not be a problem...will test it though...

360 degree search field. Which is nice. However, the down side is that I do not always immediately know if a target is on the bottom or side of the Pinpointer. It takes a little learning curve to figure it out. I will say that it seems more sensitive right against the bottom of the tip.

I switched to Whites from the F Pulse. No need for the entire shaft to detect. That's not technically a pin pointer. If you put an F Pulse or a Garrett in a hole and the object is in the side wall of the hole it will go off and not point where to further search. I wanted one with just the tip detection. The Whites TRX does that but does have a small area at the base of the shaft that will detect but mainly just the tip.

This is one reason why I just made exactly same desicion. Another one was the fact that F-pulse gave false signals all the time and needed constant retuning. Another choice for me would have been Vibra Probe 585 but delivery costs to Finland would have made it way too expensive. It is also detecting only from the tip.

Fpulse is a beast huh Gary!! Same depth under ground. I have a video of it.. also have a Giveaway on my ch for an Fpulse. Drawing is Monday if you wanna get in it.

Where was this info last week..LOL....I just bought one so I'm good I guess....I'll still check out the vid though.

Haha. Its a great PP, but very sensitive. I leave mine on level 2 so it does not false. And it does not like the Equinox. Turn on the fpulse and equinox then noise cancel the EQ with the fpulse on. Seems to help.
