From the Vault: Sangakkara's Hobart masterclass

- Chasing a near impossible target of 507, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara majestically compiled 192 against Australia in 2007 before he was dismissed in unfortunate circumstances

And he only got out due to a bullshit decision. Absolute class was Kumar, as an Australian I miss him so much.
You'd be the only one then. The guy who gets a helicopter to a charity raising event and then guilts white people into apologising for being white
.. yeah right. What a top bloke. I was there. He's a POS.
True
@@TonkaGoldman-xd5iw why you mad bro? 😂
@@jakisjc why are you an idiot?
@@TonkaGoldman-xd5iw no, the questions is why are you ? 😂
The Sangakkara cover drive relieved my depression.
Really claasy cover drives those..typical left hander's class
My also
❤️❤️❤️
mark waughs off his pads made me pregnant.
Stupid decision by umpire put me into depression.....
I don't know why people don't recognize him when it comes to the list of greatest cricketers of all time . In tests people talk about lara, dravid, tendulkar , ponting but they forget to say his name. He was also a cricketer of that era, of bowlers like McGrath, bond, akhtar, brett lee, warne, akram, and so on. Still he has an average of more than 57 in 134 tests. More than 28000 runs in international cricket followed by 700 dismissals. Oh please he was a champion of that era. Probably one of the most classic and Orthodox left handed batsman with a fantastic wicket keeper, what a champion player sanga was💕💕💕. Love from india
True bro ❤️
@@wasathweerasinghe9628 yess bro and he was one of the nicest human beings also. Always having a gentle smiling face even after the biggest loss. I can never forget his smile after loosing the 2011 world cup. Yess we are happy that our nation won but i can feel for him💕
@Pratham sharma Lmao then using that same logic then Kohli shouldnt be mentioned in the conversation
@Pratham sharma even kolhi has failed badly against anderson.
Yeah bro
Sanga's drives has a separate fan base!!
Right 👍
Yes, the man standing behind Sanga (Adam Gilchrist) is pioneer of wicketkeeping but the real champion I think is Sangkkara. 12400 runs in 134 test matches 14000+ runs in nearly 400 ODI followed by 700+ dismissals and his captaincy... Oh my god!
One thing left, his sportsmanship... How many of you remember his smiling face and beautiful speech after losing WC 2011 against India...
Legend!!! 🙌🏻
Love from India 🇮🇳
He retired from T20 cricket after winning 2014 T20 WC against India and it's the Revenge of him for loosing 2011 WC ODI Final.
Also, Gilchrist never had to face his own Australian attack, which was the best in the world for much of his career.
@@kennedysan1045Gilchrist could smash lee, warne and McGrath like a cakewalk on his day easily and obviously he faced them on training ground
@@rahatmahmud5435 he averaged 47, I doubt that would've been higher if he had to face Australia every two years.
Gilchrist was great but not as consistent as Sangakkara. Sanga's test batting avg is actually higher than Lara, Sachin, Ponting, Kallis, Hayden and many other great batsmen of his era.
So that's how Australians denied Kumar Sangakkara from breaking Don's record of 12 Doubles
He is one of the 2 batsman to be not out on 199*😭
Rudi Koertzen is South African, not Australian.
@@GURPARKASH06 Australians Paying Him 😂✌️
@@GURPARKASH06 they are racist, nationality doesnt matter... When its between black n white, they back white only.
U know idiot, Don Bradman was once not out on 299 else he would have had 3 300s take that

Sir Alastair Cook is right there with Sanga
bro alastair cook has more then him lol
Thank lord for DRS. That was an appalling decision. Unfortunate end to an amazing innings.
BTW that umpire Rudi Koertzen deliberately retired due to DRS, he didn't want them to use it
@@boomstand2872 he is no more now.
If there was DRS that time..He would have equaled Sir Don Bradman's record..
Yes bro
Ever heard of the 🦋 effect?
@@siddhant4320 but if when umpires have to take a doubtful decision, he went to the pavilion before the umpire gives the decision. Therefore with him, DRS is in the favour of him, When we talk about the butterfly effect.
@@chathurangaherath9970 u certainly didn't get my point
He already equaled
They should've really called him back to bat . Victory with dishonouring this great inns is not a great Victory
Worth reminding you that he was playing against Australia. You'd be holding your breath a long time waiting for them to do that. Great players? Undoubtedly. Great sportsman? Not even close.

@@TonkaGoldman-xd5iw how is that racist If i am telling the truth ? The history speak for itself
If not for Rudi’s woeful decision, sanga would have definitely stacked up a double ton and who knows, maybe more. Sri lanka were chasing a mammoth score, but yet sanga was still solid in the middle. We had more than an outside chance not only to win our first test on Aussie soil, but also to cap it with the greatest chase of all time. 😞
And even with bradman also😪❤️
What are you smoking? Sangakara was still at the crease with the score at 294/8 chasing 500 there was no way Sri Lanka was going to win this test
You don’t know about cricket dude, 143 runs more, anything possible in cricket.

Poor umpiring cost his another great innings ... absolutely beautiful innings 🏏🏆️❤ The Legend Sangakkara ❤
One of the best inning's player by a batsman in a fourth inning in Australia. He would have scored a lot more if the umpire's decision wasnt wrong.
I always think him as the greatest ever wicket keeper bestman and one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Huge respect. From 🇮🇳
❤️❤️
He average 40 as a wk batsmn
he was a really good wicket keeper batsman but Dhoni was better then him in keeping but an absolute pleasure to watch him play!!
He wasn't. In white ball cricket Gilchrist was better and in tests he had a low average as a wicketkeeper.
@@arishsheikh3000 bro someone says that Sangakkara has a test batting average of 70 @. As a batsman ?
When he becomes a wicket keeper his average was 57 @ ?
How bro can you explain ,pls 😭 .
What a player! 4th innings of test against Australia in Australia... truly a masterclass ❤️
That's why they somehow denied him Aus dearly holds on to their records no matter how awful it looks. The difference between Mighty WI & pathetic Aussies
That was a shocker of a decision to end an absolutely magnificent innings.
What a shame 😔
Splendid knock
What an entertainment and treat to watch. He was toying with Aussie bowlers. He is a legend for a reason. He scored 4 hundreds in world cup 2015. He is a real ambassador of this beautiful game
He made everything look so effortless
I literally cried when he retired in 2015
One of my all time favourites and one of all time greatest ❤️
Even though I am an Indian,he was my favourite cricketer since childhood. I remember I supported Sri Lanka in Wc 2011 and 2015 jus t because of him. It was after his retirement i became a fan of India.
He is the 2nd best player i have ever seen after Legendary Sachin.
Just his records say it. Sri Lanka is yet to find a class player like him right now. I love him not just because of his batting but his personality too.
Hope Sri Lanka comes back

Totally misjudged by the umpire. What a majestic knock by Sanga! ❤️❤️
This cricketer commanded respect in everything he did, I was fortunate enough to follow his career.
Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Two class players. It was like watching poetry in motion. Lot of respect from India.
He was so criminally underrated....probably the best left hander to grace the field.
Yaa because Lara doesn't exist. Nice. Throw up some stats now that he averages 57+.

Sangakkara's batting :- Amazing
Those full tosses :- Appalling
That Umpiring decision :- Atrocious
One thing I admired of sangakkara was his ability to use his feet to the spinners and chip the ball back over the bowlers head
Not only the spinners but the fast bowlers too & he was its top best while smashing any sort of pace attackers.
Best wicket keeper batsman ever
Lol averages just 40 as wk batter in test cricket

The man with the attitude of never die
Masterclass, 1 of the greatest of all time..huge fan from Bangladesh..miss ur masterpiece..
Still, no over reaction when he qas wrongly given out, that too when he was nearing double century, true legend
0:16 sheer elegance ❤️
Sanga pure master class gentlemen👏🏻👏🏻❤️
legendary left hander king sanga you are proud to our country ❤️🔥🇱🇰
Sangas's highest score in Australia👌
But still he deserved one double ton in Aussies soil since he had that potential
Indian guys need to stop taking this stance less seriously it harming them in long run because they get pretty bad at back foot as they keep on playing thats it gets really hard for them to play short balls & wickets like England Australia south Africa . unlike foreign players who are best at backfoot .hardik pandya is backfoot player ' hes killing it.its not always necessary to develop a stance we should choose the one what is more comfortable (i.e steve Smith). plus if you're a good at back foot you're likely to play well against most of swing deliveries because you got time &can play close to the body unlike front foot where you have to commit forward
Kumara was great at backfoot
Though he was a part of 624 partnership with mahela, this is the inning that made him as the batsmen of the team that always look for🔥🔥🔥 timing and placement against lee and jhonson were immaculate ♥️
One of the best Innings of Sanga I have ever seen....
SUCH crisp Strokeplay.....
You will always be a Legend

One of the Greatest player of all time masterclass ❤🇱🇰
Thanks for all these great videos amidst this lockdown Cricket Australia!! Much needed respite
Legendary player & a match winner.. One of the best in the business. As many had commented, I also feel he is an under-sung hero.
2:19 cover driver bhai class he alag hai bande ki meine apni life isse acha left hand bantsman nahi dekha legend 🙌🙏
When I see this clips always make me sad 😔😔 just because of that bad decision
I have realised that in past...on Australian soil....umpires were used to be so biased and were always in favour of Aussies.
Absolute Pure Class batting Sir Sangakkara 🔥🔥🔥
One of the finest left handers ,in crckt.
K sangakkara ,classical technique with ability to score big hundreds.
Best srilankan batsman. Elegant and a treat to watch
So gracefully resisted the decision and walked away.
My all time Favorite player Kumar Sangakkara.

Lot's of effortless shorts.. Lovely to watch those shorts.
Compare that Sri Lankan team with the current one.
Current one is like old Zimbabwe
Sri Lanka is like Old Bangladesh team now 😜
@@tharinducrg exactly dude :)
But remember that current team beat proteas in their backyard 2-0

Some of those shots. My word. Might be best aggressive batting I have seen.
The mas was pure class, his style at the crease, his timing and balance and range of strokes were as good as anyone's. His cover drives had the crowd purring. Probably my favourite non-Australian player. Much respect from a one-eyed Aussie supporter.
Thanks Cricket Australia for this incredible memories!
This game should have been talked about like edgbaston 2005. And Lara’s 153, Sanga did not look like getting out that day. Probably the most tragic innings of all time
Class play
No one cant replace him
Lara, Dravid, Sangakara, Tendulkar and VVS Laxman...the best batsmen of that amazing Cricketing era!
He showed the game spirit after given out wrongly by the upmire👍
His test average is the highest in all the batsmen of the world who have scored 10000 test runs.
Dravid, kallis , Sachin, Lara, Gavaskar, border, ponting, .
Only second to Bradman as a pure batsman.
Sanga is criminally underrated, what an inning! But that was a ludicrous decision, deserved a double ton surely.
A rare batsman in the world of cricket who could swing his bat like a sword at any end of the field 🔥🔥
There is no way to explain the sweet sound that used to be in Sangakkara's cover drive 😍😍
Ever since I understood cricket, Sangakkara and Gilchrist have been my favorite players in my life ❤️❤️
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤️
simply a legend of the game ♥️
He is a brand of world cricket ❤️
I watched this live as a kid. The out was so heart breaking. it Still gives me nightmare like feelings ... :( no words to express 😣
Loved watching sanga bat... Would find his spot purely as a batsman in any all time XI
Greatest keeper batsman ever .
Aussies doing what they do best, led by skipper Ponting: claiming a dismissal dishonestly.
Talk about seeing a cricket ball like a football...Well few of his shots looked liked kumar was seeing it magnified!!!
Probably why he was given out as well lol. That had to be a football for it to hit the bat and be given out like that 😁
Always masterclass🖤 what a legend 🇱🇰🔥
Great player really he is. Love from Pakistan
Such a great player
I think this innings along with the one at the ICC WC Final in WI had made many Australians his admirers..
This was my fav Knock in his entire career because it was against one of the greatest pace attack and he was a lone warrior, I was watching this live and everyone at the other end was getting out but he carried on like a true legend, He would have won that match the way he was batting what an unfortunate way to get out.. Abysmal umpiring . . Truly one of the greatest knocks in Australian soil by an Asian batsman
6:24 Ponting made the decision, umpire agreed with it.
Sangakkara is pur class. One of the greatest of all time
This was the innings which kind of proved how underrated he was. He basically outbatted Gilly in his own backyard and averaged way more. And did it against tougher opposition for a far weaker side. But people still insisted that there was no debate as to who the greatest wicketkeeper batsman ever is at the time.
What a humble and polite personality he has!
0:16 Legendary cover drive.
Girl:- Am I so pretty?
Boy:- Hah..., you may have never seen sanga's cover drive.
Legend sanga❤
A huge respect for Sanga. Sri Lanka have produced legends and he's one of them. He's my second fav batter from Lanka ( First is obviously Arvinda). Salute from India
My Favourite Wicketkeeper Batsman
And One of The Greatest Batsman of All Time🐐
He Has Most Double Hundreds after Don Bradman 😮
Sanga the Legend❤️🇱🇰
No wonder he said “ you’re joking “ or something similar when he was given out. That was a ludicrous decision. DRS was on its way because of things like that.
Absolutely great!
Nothing to compare.
The way he placed the ball backward of point so many times prove how much control he had while batting,
That spinner would struggle to get into a Sunday team. We moan about Leach and Ali, just look at some of these deliveries
Stuart Mcgill was the most overrated spank ..... still remember how Dravid and Laxman whopped him all over the park in 2003-04 series
Yep he could bowl some trash at times.
200+ test wickets in 44 test's, ill have him in my sunday team anyday
