🦈 TEKKEN stole Devil Shark!
🥊 VF did it first!
Seiichi was a former VF employee yes without him NOT moving to Namco Tekken would have never existed 🤷
I'm team VF 🥊 Even as a Tekken player (and VF Revo beginner)
It was not until the 3rd DOYAH that i realized it was not Tricky making the noise 😂
These dudes just went to Namco and reused all the characters they created for VF that didn't make the cut 😂
a bunch of reject
thats cold😂
Virtua Fighter and Tekken are brothers. Vf1 and T1 and 2 all had the same game designer Seiichi Ishii. They got a few younger siblings out there like Kabuto Chojin, but we don't talk about them. Vf is the older brother that always reminds people he's older and like 2 cm taller.
Precisely 😂❤
Ok, that last part is just spot on 😂
Kakuto Chojin is pretty interesting and yet another hidden gem from og xbox. Also really love soundtrack there. Tobal games were pretty cool as well.
Oh, and don't forget that Dead or Alive is VF's little sister :)
@kurisuchiinathecrocodile333 I would say doa is a cousin or a distant relative for using the same arcade board but vf and tekken had the same game designer for there orginal games
Without Virtua Fighter, we would not have had Tekken.
Without Street fighter you wouldn't have had either.
@@jazzoj5 Makes you wonder how many characters from Fatal Fury were just unused ideas from Street Fighter given they're from the same people.
Street Fighter -> Fatal Fury
Virtua Fighter -> Tekken
@@galacticspecter4364seiichi made VF then made Tekken
@@jazzoj5
Especially wouldn't have Akira who looks like someone cosplaying Ryu 😂
Damn we just gonna ignore basic karate gi lol@@apophis7712
Hopefully in VF6 will see a boxer and more new fighting styles.
Or a replay viewer
@@jameshanken1446 omg we USED to have a reply viewer and they took it from us
That'd be great! With the K button being sway movements.
@@lizzybennet5726 it would fit perfect for capoeira, eskrima (filipino kickboxing etc)
That’s just Tekken’s humble beginning, a VF knockoff, character selection screen, I for one mistaken Tekken for VF before Tekken 3, but Tekken 3 is when the series took different direction
LOL harada literally based his influence for Tekken off Virtua Fighter. he said it in several interviews
Seiichi was a former VF employee then move to Namco to create Tekken bro
Yes that is what he said
Harada was inspired by tekken!
Respect your Elders because some of the people who started Tekken had started Virtua Fighter before Tekken
I literally thought Virtua Fighter was "Street Fighter at home" when I first saw it lmao
They didn't take the CHARACTERS, they gave the same ARTIST new jobs....that's why they weren't sued. Or else YES it would be robbery I was thinking the same thing 😂
Seiichi help develop virtual fighter then he moved to Namco to make Tekken then left and harada let Tekken 3 happen
As long as y'all know, lol
The Tiger Mask manga really ripped through fighting game devs like crack. Everyone wanted a Tiger Mask, Tekken with King, KoF with Ramon, SF2 almost had a Tiger Mask and now VF, the influence.......
I’m not the tekken fan I thought I was. I only play with 2 characters and they’ve been omitted from the roster. Those 2 fighters are Baek Doosan, and Bruce Irvin, other than that I’m not really interested in the other characters. However I play with 6 characters in VF, those characters are, Kage Maru, Pai Chan, Sarah Bryant, Lion Rafale, Lei Fei, and Brad Burns.
Sarah= Nina and Jack=Paul
They're both quarter stealing whores.
Namco really poached those VF team members from Sega and they just reused all their cut ideas from VF1 to make Tekken. They copied their whole flow, word for word, bar for bar!
Seiichi was a former VF employee then move to Namco to create Tekken A little research wouldn't hurt guy's
@@galacticspecter4364 can't really copy yourself lol
It goes deeper than that. Namco derived their whole 3D animation workflow from Tekken which was designed by personnel poached from Sega. Before that, Namco's 3D games were racing games (Winning Run, Ridge Racer) or spacecraft games (Starblade) that involved non-articulated vehicles.
Harada worked on virtual fighter .
Game creators and ect was like trading cards with other companies.
For example one of the street fighter creators left the company and made fatal fury and art of fighting .
5:15 The only time we ever see Dural, Kage's mother, real human look is on secret ending of Saturn Virtua Fighter 2, where she shed the metallic scene. The face is identical.
I think Seiichi Ishii just took designs that weren't used in the final build of VF over to Namco when he left.
Takeru Ryushoji would end up becoming my favorite fighting game character EVER: Jean Kujo, the french Kyokushin karateka.
(And what a great job they did...)
Also, considering the time the first VF was released, having a Baji practitioner as your main character in your fighting game was a very bold and interesting move. No one made Bajiquan more iconic in videogame history than Akira!
he looks more like kenshiro than jin to me
yes very very Kenshiro and the actual Tekken has Star Platinum
@@rebirth2526 you know i can see it
Kazuya was based on that era of shonen protags
2:05 Guy on page 9 looks directly inspired by Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. Specifically Kenshiro wearing Ein's glove when he went to the land of Shura.
Nina and Sarah Bryant are pretty similar... 😅
Well to this I'd also like to point out Leo and Lars were also probably heavily inspired by DoA characters Elliot and Hayate. Leo is a lot more cut and dry to me: their name, appearance, and fighting styles overlap a lot. Lars as a whole may have more coincidental similarities to Hayate but here's my case: Lars was designed by Kishimoto (creator of Naruto) so Bandai looked at a ninja for inspiration and found Hayate's moves to fit. I am not a DoA player but coming from Tekken, these two almost seem to share the Dynamic and Silent Entry stances. The only thing I don't see Lars being able to do is swap sides through the stance outside of a combo.
7:36 that 2° ninja character reminds me Hayate and his design from Dead or Alive 3 and 4
Well, in a sense both Kazuya and Akira are based off Street Fighter's Ryu. So all these fighting games borrow stuff and are influenced by each other.
When you point it out, it makes sense
God bless you 😂😂😂❤❤❤ Can’t wait for VF6
TMM's main was a VF character all along.
Harada didn't make those designs it was seiichi he was the one that work on VF then move to Namco to create Tekken..But kazuya design was inspired by a real life man called yukio Mishima
Yippie you made it! Okay I can defend taka and Jeffrey since those are super generic, BUT MY MAN, THAT'S LITERALLY JIN TEKKEN AND KING LOL.
On that note, on your short you said that tekken 8 did some parts of VF but didn't fully commit, it'd be cool to hear a more in depth analysis of that, since a LOT of new players are coming from tekken 8!
you are good a picking vid ideas i swear goated
Wonder if they will put a boxer or capoeira fighter in or will they pick more obscure styles🤔?
Give us the devil shark mint game in the new VF
*looks at title*
yea i believe it
So, Tekken wasn't a clone of VF, it was the leftover 🤣 ... but sure characters' first concepts were so obvious ...
Vf vs Tekken when
Are we saying that people forgot that the many of the game designers for the original VF, left, and went on to make up the team that eventually created Tekken?
yes
Mark my words we're going to get Akira in T8 this year
The King-like design in VF and...JAWS is wild...I want JAWS back....
VF is the spiritual godfather to Tekken, but Tekken swagged unmatched 😎
Been enjoying r.e.v.o, other than a few lagging matches. Got akira beating people up as the dragon of dojima
3:05 The interesting part here is in the text. It was supposed to be a Countess Duralmin from the former USSR.
10:30 Her actual identity, however, already was Kagemaru's mother Tsukikage (as seen earlier). Pages 41 and 42 give us basically the whole lore on the game's villains, Red Scorpion, not Justice 6, hellbent on world domination through chaos. The question mark head is their late evil leader, Sasoriew (a blatant pun on Japanese sasori = scorpion) Colscoru (? my layman's attempt at getting a real-sounding name out of the kana Korusukoru), who tried to unlock immortality via genetic experimentation. The head below is his eldest son, the current leader Rekka (?) who wants to create the world's strongest fighter. The two below are his younger brothers, twins Score (?) and Ion (?), the former is the brains and created the "artificial" human Silver Armor (really brainwashed Tsukikage), the latter is the brawns. Below them are Red Scorpion's three fighters: "sandstorm machoman" Majid ab Dul, Akira's former senpai Ryuushouji Takeru/Takeshi who uses an evil Bajiiquan style he calls Bashaquan, and former soldier Jeffry Bachmann who has trained a brainwashed Sara Bryant as a warrior.
Two small corrections: The aforementioned name pun is nevertheless clearly intended, but they actually bothered to slightly modify it by flipping the first two kana (which is fairly common), so it's Sosariew (or Sosariev or Sosarieff depending on Cyrillic-to-Latin transcription), but my brain automatically "corrected" the order after seeing Scorpion. And it's actually clear that the reading of Akira's senpai's given name was intended to be Takeshi, as it's spelled out in Latin letters on a previous page that I apparently had forgotten about by the time we got to the meaty one.
4:07 His look reminds me of Cheng Sinzan from Fatal Fury
The ripp off game is more popular😂😂fun this situation reminds me of Oreo and hydrox and all of us loves the ripp off more
OG Sarah looks like a Mii lol
Mii haircut wearing girl
Bandai Namco copy Virtua Fighter to make Tekken is that they like idea what Yu Suzuki is making of the Virtua Fighter characters.
They also pulled from Soul Calibre. I prefer VF 4 and of course games like bloody roar and even dead or alive.
Chill on brad Lmaooooo love ya tricky
That's crazy
Stolen?? No they weren't...
The game designer of Virtua Fighter 1 was game designer of Tekken 1 & 2...
Virtua Fighter is why Tekken exists...
Dead or Alive also existed because of Virtua Fighter (Akira, Pai, Sarah, & Jacky guest starred in DOA5).
TALK TO EM QUEEN
Seiichi Ishii
yo the Doyahs im crying
So they all ripped each other off
i have heard VF producer or some one in VF was a part of tekken 1
You are correct!
@TrickyEileen 👍
Lmaooooooo the intro has me fried af. 😂😂😂😂😂 hilarious 😆
this is a HOT TAKE....
I mean during the 90s, nearly all 3D fighters had the same devs. Virtua Fighter being the first 3D fighter then had those same devs branch out to Tekken. I'm also very sure they branched out to Tobal No.1 and Ergheiz God Bless The Ring.
Pretty much!
Yeah, Godhand from Ergheiz is literally the lost Mishima
WHAT THE DORYA?!!!!!
so Virtua Fighter had the chance to be the "cool" fihgting game but they didn't want to
and when the designer left and made Tekken now Sega cry about it?
Everyone knows this.
Tekken devs have said it themselves.
A lot of players don’t
sound effects annoyed me
*Dorya intensifies*
*Gasp* Namco how could you?
Virtua fighter are jus normal characters
9:01 OH NO😂 MY GUY
I don't care who copied what, Tekken did it better!
No, no it didn’t, lmao.
Tekkn 1 and 2 are the only vf clones, and those are the worst playing games in the series. Tekken 3 was a vast improvement to the 3-D fighting game world. I am grateful to vf for giving us tekken, but tekken improved upon what vf was trying to do. Even in tekken 1 and 2.
Tekken wasn't a better game until MAYBE 5DR. VF3 was ok, probably a weaker entry in my opinion but VF4 and 4evo are arguably the best VF games. The reason Tekken sold better was it was a PlayStation game and VF was stuck on the Saturn and dreamcast for most of its life until vf4. Just my 2 cents
@@joshbell123 I've enjoyed every tekken game more than vf. I was never referring to sales as an indicator of what game was better.
Generic characters based mostly on 70s and 80s entertainment. I wouldn’t call any of it stolen for VF, the guy you say is Jin looks like Kenshiro.
so you either say fuck less often. or you dont put on that annoying ass masher reina dorya audio WAY TOO LOUD on my ears. ive lost count on them in 3 minutes
Orrr we keep all the fcks and get the demo police on my ass in the first two minutes
I don’t see the Jin resemblance, I think ganryu came before taka but shaheen definitely looks very heavily inspired by the siba character
I heard siba was supposed to be the main character but was scrapped for akira instead lol
I'm genuinely baffled you don't see it, Jin looks like Kazuya, and Kazuya looks like this Takeru.
And no, Siba (Shiva?) was never meant to be the main character. That's a misconception purely based on early arcade cabinets that have his face labeled Akira due to who makes the cut on the final roster having been quite in flux. (Heck, back when the game actually had a story, he was part of the villain faction.) Akira and Jacky were always meant to be the Ryuu and Ken of Virtua Fighter(s). If Akira had been cut, I'm quite certain Jacky would've been the one and only poster boy.
you say don't shit on our game and yet your game company sega just re-released a game trapped people into preordering vf5 revo early in December at the early discount price of $15.99 and then made it the same price "$15.99" at launch but for the people who bought that barebones game including myself cant refund it cause it was wayyy past refund date Pretty offensive if you ask me
I never said don’t shit on business practices
Both of rival or competitor. You can basically saying Marvel copy DC and vice versa.
No need to butthurt on this.
marvel literally did copy dc sooo don't know what point you try to make.
Seiichi was a former virtual fighter employee then he moved to Namco to create Tekken research can help you guys you know You don't have to guess it's a bit irritating
yes this video sounded very butthurt. I'm so mad
Tekken worked with VF people as well as the DOA people
Lol does it even matter any more
