the tremolo system is different...both edge zero..but, J custom has the expensive Edge Zero with ZPS3, while the premium has Edge Zero 2...which is cheaper version (chaper materials, alloys, etc + ZPS3 FE system, which is not quite as sturdy as the ZPS3 from the J custom). Ibought a J Custom RG8570Z in Royal Blue Sapphire brand new 3 weeks ago and it is beautiful! all around extremely well made. It was made in 2021, and nobody bought it for 2 years - the guitar sat in the case well kept and unplayed, but had time to settle and wood be able to settle down, and I decided I shall get it. Took off 1 level of the brass nut shims, for lower 1st fret action and I have a 0,9mm action at 12th fret. Pickups are creammy and can definitely shred. More than likely I will be replacing the pickups with the DiMarzio Fusions that I have in my 1120. But quick story. I moved to AL for a little over a year for work. Walked into guitar center and there was a Les Paul with a floyd hanging on the wall. IN GUITAR CENTER. I asked the dude what it was doing there and he said it was a mistake shipment. It had been there for 2 1/2 years and they had the price down to 3400.00. It old them if they would do 3k I would buy it. He said he needed a day to talk to the manager. I figured 3400 is actually really good on that guitar. Went back the next day......sold. Someone walked in and bought it after it sat there for 2 1/2 years. Amazing. When it is plugged in it is very little but unplugged it makes a massive difference. You can tell how lively a guitar is going to be when it is unplugged and that is from the wood they use. That is like saying that wood in acoustics make no difference. If that were the case they would all use the cheapest wood they can find.
@TraceTaylor3 plugged in it pretty much makes 0 difference. Of course unplugged it might make some. Even then its more about the nut body shape bridge and strings. Acoustic of course a massive difference.
@TraceTaylor3 the paint job probably makes as big of a difference as the wood. If you clear coated 1 guitar 2x as much or compared poly to nitro on the same wood vs a different wood that had the same coating it would probably be similar.
The main reason different woods that are more expensive used is looks or to sell people that just want expensive shit. Opaque guitars if you notice mostly use alder ash or basswood

@@Guitars-GearandMusic I'll agree to dis agree I've watched lots of videos disproving that assumption 1 guy took his strings and tuned it across nothing but air had a nu a bridge and a pickup no noticeable sound even in the sign wave and definetly not any change the best hearing human could discern solid body guitars don't effect the sound you hear the nut the bridge the pickup the only thing the strings come into contact with amplified you'll hear a difference not plugged in but amplified no
Now playing a guitar with different woods and feel will make you play to or with that particular feel so yes it does make a difference in how it will sound but that's only the human factor coming through not the wood itself changing what the pickup is receiving and sending
AHAHAHA it is a trick, nobody is playing them they both are just sitting there in the video.
Damnit. you found out. That has been my secret all along.
Wood makes 0 difference in tone its a myth
@@anthonyallard3156 Yes. I can make any guitar sound like any other guitar....but the first thing I do when I get a new guitar is play it unplugged. I want to hear the overtones. My 5320 and my J custom sound nearly identical unplugged but both different then my 1120 with a basswood body, everything else being about the same. My 1120 sounds a little more lively and I can tell a difference when I play plugged in.
