My name is Debora Glaze and I own BirdsSoap and NewValhallaSoap. I am a crazy bird and parrot lady too and some say im pretty decent at being a creative entrepreneur. I am here to grow on youtube, after blowing up not one, but several accounts elsewhere to the tune of 225,000 followers and counting. I want to help other creatives learn to market themselves, make fun soap, hang our and get to know you past the 1 minute limitation of tiktok and of course, hand out with parrots.

I love it! Yes, I have no time or energy left to be anything other than myself in these videos- it is a 18 hr a day, 7 day a week gig for real. I hope you achieve all your goals and let me know if you need any help.
I actually have to reorganize my entire studio this week. My son and his wonderful significant other moved in last week and now the house is in chaos 😂😂😂! BUT, it gives me a rare opportunity to create a better system. My art brain is part systematic brilliance part chaos 😆😅 so we will see how well it goes lol.

I too came from a culinary background. I worked/managed a bakery well over 10 years and I find that they are very similar fields. Plus the knowledge of food safety and the restaurant tools have been a life saver time and again.

YES! This is one of my favorites as well! We also use a fair amount of parchment paper!
I wish I knew about your Valhalla soap before I bought some Dr. Squatch. I'm actually a Thor fan and if my Mom was correct, Vikings respected my Mom's Native American tribe, Tlingit tribe, from way back then.

I am very introverted, and the idea of doing youtube and social media sounds like a overwhelming chore. I have zero interest in talking to a camera and especially editing videos. . So, my question is, how important is all of that in being successful? I don't expect to make 6 figure but I would like to make a living from just my soap buisness one day.
This video is great, but my age must be showing. I try to watch it but -- it makes me dizzy from the sudden fast camera movements.
Not in my wildest dreams could I have a microwave for food in my working area or fridge for that purpose, those have to be in a separete room due to regulations in my country
they may be in the same area, but we have separate microwaves for the separate purposes. being no one ever used the food microwave, it's since moved out of the studio.

A lot of great info in your video; however, it is terrible misleading for newbies to believe there is a faster way to cure soap. I feel if you or anyone is going to explain a technique, it should be in its entirety. Soap has 3 steps in the cure process. 1) saponification, 2) water evaporation, and 3) crystallization. With that said, a soapmaker that's in business to sell should be curing their soap fully because, well, that makes a completed product. To speed up the cure process a little (and I mean days), one can do a water discount and avoid a high oil moisture content like olive oil when making castile soap or using certain butters. Yes it's paramont for soap to have full air circulation for even soap curing... but curing doesn't end there. In order to avoid fast, mushy soap, it's important for the soap to restructure and harden, and that's part of the last phase most seem to miss. And it's a very important step that sets your polroducts apart from other poorly cured products.
Adding dehumidifyer warps soap. A fan helps air flow but it doesn't speed things up. Hot Process soap may cure a day or two faster than cold process soap since saponification is achieved right away; however, both processes require steps 2 and 3 to be fully cured. How can one tell if their soap has fully cured? Weigh it each week until it no longer looses weight... that's the cure duration timeframe. Mark that duration timeframe on your formulation for the next time you make it. Do this for each different formulation because no one formulation is the same.
Hopefully this explains to new learners the proper method to cure soap and as much as we wish we can speed up the cure process, there is no scientific method available to do so. None. Approx 4 weeks for a steep water discount to 12+ months depending on one's formulation.
If people are buying soap from such a dirty studio with bird shitting everywhere into the soaps then there is hope for the rest of us with small businesses
