Wish I had a safe spot to do that right now. But if it's a deer hunting ammo, And most people shoot deer within 100 yd or less, They should probly designed bullet for that
Another great and fantastic review. I've never tried their ammo. But after seeing your review on this and you talking about some of the results from other test of this ammo for different calibers I think I will stick with my Hornady ammo😉👊👍🇺🇸
@John Carter if I can find some eventually I will. Hard to find anything up here. I've done a video on it in 6.5 creedmoor. I wasn't extremely impressed.
I think it’s over priced for what it is … there are cheaper cup and core bullets out there… thanks for showing us this and now we can determine if we want to buy it or not 😊
For the price of premium ammo I wish they would quit skimping on the cup and core bullets. Might put it in the self defense category. Thanks for sharing
@@AlaskanBallistics the tyrrany is mounting though. It gets worse and worse daily. People getting arrested for exercising their rights and hate malitia groups burning buildings, threats coming from all angles.
The 130 grain loads in the .270 Winchester are known as the best performing bullet weight for hunting. Jack O’Connor was a big fan of the Winchester Model 70 .270 and hunted around the world. The 130 grain load in .270 Winchester is a proven hunting round. Proper shot placement will work every time.
Who actually makes this bullet might tell us something. Sure looks a lot like a ballistic tip. Tipped cup and core usually don't hold together all that well any way. The 1st generation ballistic tips were too fragile, but they did electrocute deer in explosive fashion.
@@AlaskanBallistics I found it notable that when Winchester brought out their new Deer Season XP (extreme point) their promotional material seemed to be describing the bullets behavior a lot like the 1st gen. Ballistic tips. Couldn't figure out how this deliberate hyper expansion re-run was gonna prove any better than the last too fragile bullet. I can only see a super fragile bullet being useful in a slow cartridge.
I don't think manufacturers can control bullet deflection. I would also question the first chronograph reading, that was a decently hot round. An extra 60ish feet per second is probably a grain and a half higher in charge. Might have even felt the difference possibly. Great work as usual. Thanks for the info. Really looks like a nosler with a different color tip. Curious as to how the ballistic Silvertip would compare.
Lining up jugs of water to shoot is a very poor example of the performance of a hunting ammunition. If you want accurate results, use a medium that more closely resembles your intended prey.
@@redtobertshateshandles I pulled 8 rounds of hornady zombie max ammo apart because it got wet and all the powder was within a grain from highest to lowest and the projectiles were almost exactly the same. Brass was president close too. I was impressed considering I bought it as a gag gift for Christmas.
I suspect your barrel had some oil residue for the first shot. The round demonstrated a devastating transfer of energy, that I feel would be great for small to medium size game. Similar to Nosler Ballistic Tip, and others who use a ballistic tip to create rapid expansion.
Itd do good in my area of the woods for whitetail but i also have black bear that tend to be greedy with property that i just wouldnt feel comfortable with that much underperformance, granted i have a 6.5CM as my hunting rifle i still wouldnt want to come across yogi with that ammo. I would have expected a lot more from a 140 grain bullet out of a .270 win
I picked up some Sako munitions for 270 with 156gr bullet they call the sledgehammer. If you or anyone you know can find it it’d be interesting to see chrono and block testing. I’ve taken one whitetail with it and it dropped it immediately
In my creedmoor their 140g SMK target ammunition is far and away the most accurate I've tried at any price, better by 50 percent than the next best. Almost as good as tuned handloads. Too bad these are falling apart though.
@@AlaskanBallistics A brittany and a 12g sxs with #6 birdshot right now. I honestly haven't hunted big game in a long time, but I used to and saw some weird performance out of bullets used on deer shot by other guys. @@AlaskanBallistics Yeah, pretty much impossible to argue that. I'm actually just down the road from Barnes, I really should have been trying their stuff by now but didn't hear that much about them til lately.
I’ve watched a lot of your videos but never seen one with super consistent chronograph results. I wonder what part of it is ammo and temperatures of the barrel heating up. Plus you shoot in much colder weather than most do. I’d be curious to know if these variables make a difference. In the same way a clean barrel loses a zero.
Well it made for a good explosion on your targets there but otherwise rather disappointing performance from beginning to end. Great video as usual Chuck, be blessed brother 👍🇺🇸
Great review. Think it would be a great option for deer hunting or other light skin game hunting. Don't think it would do go in thick skin game animals with heavy muscles and fat in thick hides. This bullet looks to be the nosler balistic silver tip. Winchesters use load them in their line of ammo. Have little left in 243win 95gr. Hard find in stores. Love the 270!

Not to bad on retention

Nosler partitions all the way .
They're definitely good

Very intersting.

That’s a pretty smooth bolt on that rifle.👍🏽
Lol no it's not. These cheap Thompson center compasses are not smooth
Alaskan Ballistics hah, well... you really force it into compliance we could say. 😄
@@AlabamaPilgrim333 lol maybe

The nickel case and the dark bullet makes it look like a retro Winchester Black Tallon
True. Or a ballistic silver tip
Think would be great for deer
I'd like to see that ammunition in the 243
Me too, but it'd do the same thing
I bought bulk sig sauer elite hunter 243 90g. My Savage loves this ammo
