Lol fr tho
That's wild! There's a list of role players and bench warmers who should take their talents to China to get the love they deserve.
bruh comment two minutes ago, watched this at the same time as Gowie lmao
I be seeing you everywhere spitting facts lmao
Gowie the goat
Idc if you gave me a 40 million dollar contract I wouldn’t stay in China
It’s hard being from ur family, friends, and adjusting to a new country or continent but u saying facts though
It looks like King Kong's nostrils are outside Gilbert's window.
😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
lol only a matter of time..
Omg can't unsee it 🤣😂🤣😂

John Lucas and Gil are so spot on here. Their experience is what basketball feels like in China.
I'm 3rd/4th gen. chinese-american and grew up in a basketball family. Summertime was hot ass gyms, basketball clinics, summer league, and blacktop basketball. He Got Game and Through the Fire was everything. If that was your childhood and teenage years, and you know that culture - let me tell you. I went to China to study abroad in Shanghai a few years ago. Basketball is so pure there.
The weather, the court on every block, people hoopin when they get off work. It's all love and respect there. The game is so pure.
As what john lucas said shanghai is new york city on steroids.. Must place to visit.. Place of positivity
@@JetSawce003 When this pandemic dies down definitely a place to visit.
I miss that man , unless someone is a real hooper or played for school or just left it’s HARD ASF to get ppl to hoop or find many courts especially if you don’t live in a big city. Once you graduate HS it’s a chore to get ppl out the house and hoop or whatever .
4th gen chinese american hoopers named fong rise up
John Lucas
This was a real interview John Lucas is tight for keepin it real
He left out the part about hooking up with groupies. In the US ain't no one want to brag they hooked up with a 12th man. But if these dudes are looked at like Kobe over THERE? They definitely got laid.
Stayed in China for 2 years and the love those guys had and still have for kobe is surreal. Kobe jerseys everywhere. MJ and kobe really transcended the game like no other
Im Michael Jackson out this bih 😭😂
@Kyroh Rin no. I think u have no life if u took time out of your day to talk to me
4:49
@Kyroh Rin you thought typing all those words would make you cool, but naaaah you're the clown we're laughing at 💀 don't delete your comment.
@Kyroh Rin 😂😂😂😭💀
@Kyroh Rin and you still missed the pun 😬😁 who raised you child? What did they do to you?
NBA: Look up and see Lebron's nuts flying over me
CBA: Get paid the same and be goated
Makes sense he stayed in China...
Marbury is the China 🐐
Yeah he had no reason to come back lmao. I remember some years ago dudes was saying how he should come back, that he could still make a roster. Which was true. But he is THE MAN in China. They built a statue of him. If I go somewhere where they treat me like basically Jesus, why would i go back to a place where I MIGHT get playing time. People forget I'm even in the league. Trash contracts. All that. Marbury made a great decision.
@@lilrayallen13 nah bro. Don’t compare a human being to Jesus bro
@@James_follows_Christ Jesus was born from a human, that makes him part human
@@De_Rustige Jesus is fully human and fully God

that dude gone gone LOL!
Didn’t he come back like 2 years ago lol I was surprised
@@deeswagg21 yeah signed with the suns a bit in 2019
@Kyroh Rin As a suns fan, I definitely remember he signed a 2 yr contract with the suns in 2019 and after a couple games they decided to not pick up the second year option. He played like 5 games and only played around 10-12 min/game
@Kyroh Rin he definitely came back lol but ok
A guy playing over there now should really make a documentary or have a podcast about his life. Would be incredibly interesting. Someone like Reddick could probably do this and have massive success with it.
I knew a few nba players that went to the Chinese basketball league...they would always hit the local expat bars in Nanjing...they had a great time, felt more appreciated, and often, more $$$$$.....a few of them had that nasty holier than thou attitude and didn't stay long in china---the country at the time was undeveloped...now they are struggling in the US ,and many have regrets not taking full advantage of their situation in china..Look at chuck Hayes, formerly of Houston, he now has his own shoe deal in china..he could never get it in the US
heard a lot of the same about china. people saying they fell in love w/ the game again over there
OJ Mayo probably made a lot of bread out there
He actually on the good team over there too aha
I got called Kobe once while playing pickup game at the park in S. Korea. And Im white and D3 level talent at best.. I just did a sick double clutch reverse layup against 2 guys and I was accepted with the group. It was pretty amazing considering they only knew a little English and I only knew a few Korean words at the time. Basketball language is universal.
If AI went to china after his Memphis stint he would have been a god there. Like a million times bigger than what marbury was
Facts!
My guy Donnell Harvey had a great career in China as well. But the fact that China has rules about how many foreigners they can have so the talent is pretty low. Americans usually dominate😂
I use to hoop wit that Dunk’n SOB @ Run N Shoot in ATL
He and Jabari Smith use to go at it. GREAT Runs!!!!!!
He played at Florida right?
Its also like that in other places to they limit it to like 2 foreigners a team...i think it depends on the country
@@statechamp3465 yessir
To balance it out.....European soccer is the same way
Isnt that the dude lebron literally jumped over when he was on the heat??😂😂

Jeremy Lin went to China and still gets treated like Jeremy Lin...
because he’s Taiwanese

When we had Lucas back in 2009-2011, we made it to the semi-finals. This year, we also made it to the semis, but we lost that fighting spirit from Lucas and Coach Bob Donewald. We also didn't really have a "spiritual captain" like Liu Wei (刘炜). I understand that Lucas is coaching the Lakers now, but the Shanghai Sharks needs him a lot.
I am from Shanghai. I can attest to the truth of what they say. John was really good when he played for Shanghai. The network also made a documentary about the Shanghai team that season. Best season since Yao left. My good friend and Gilbert played on the Shanghai team. He said he was the most down-to-earth and humble player he had ever seen. But he likes to play too much. He would have his schoolbag filled with $100 worth of cash before a basketball game. Go straight to the club after the game. He went to the mall to buy his own games and was always patient with any fan, willing to take pictures, willing to talk. It's not like Carmelo Anthony wearing sunglasses and ignoring anyone. Arenas is a rare star who is particularly popular. It's a shame he got injured otherwise we would have liked him to play a few more seasons.
Thanks for the insight, brother
@@mauropedrosa7317 🙏
How do Shanghai treat black men that don't play basketball?
Bigtask Athand most likely like any other person who isn’t a famous basketball player 🤷🏽♂️
@@bigtaskat-hand4742 If you only care about Shanghai. I would say most of the time it was pretty good. This city was built by westerners. The culture is very tolerant. People with good manners are welcome anywhere in China. Of course there are bad people in every nation and country. But in general there are a lot of ordinary black people in Shanghai and if things get bad I don't think they will stay in Shanghai anymore.
Gilbert “ When I went out there it made me fall in love with bath salt again” 1:20
Not just basketball. Take your education and get a decent job in any other non European ish country . You will live like a king . Don't let the fake American dream fool you
Chinese don’t play defense, anybody from the NBA can be GOD there.....
Lucas II just being real. Can't hate

If I was a hooper I would live over there and play ball. The goal is to make sports a career. Fuck being in the nba or nfl. If I can do the same thing overseas and live like a rich man there I would do it. (Not Lithuania or anything trash lol. China, London, Greece)
Lithuanian league is miles better than BBL, and in Europe you can travel where you want in a matter of hour/two max when you have this kind of money
Went to China in 2016. (Atleast back then) The people absolutely love black people I felt like a super star touring Shanghai and Beijing it was great
Shit like this . Makes me give a really big side eye to anything said about China in our media. ANYTHING!!!
I was waiting for this type of interview about overseas now I'm hyped
People laugh at me,but this is the reason I think China sooner than later will have a great basketball team. They will have 2-3 guys who are actually big names in the NBA. There are so many of them, they work hard, they are able to bring in european and usa coaches to show them the game and MOST IMPOTANTNLY this country LOVES basketball. Is their passion, their number 1 sport. Basketball, basketball and than some more basketball. Out of that group of people, there simply will be a few kids who gonna turn into monsters. Is gonna happen eventually.
Most definitely, that’s just the way things work. The only problem in China is that most are inherently short, buy you had Yao Ming, and you are definitely gonna have some more.
I'm going to go play in China
Damn What if Kobe was playing in China? I can’t Imagine how good.
Just watch Kobe when he played during the Olympics!
Lol I just commented Kobe would've averaged 45-50 ppg over there in his prime. He did 35 ppg in the NBA in his prime when VC,Mcgrady & Pierce were in their primes smh I could only imagine
Klay Thompson has a crazy sneaker deal with Anta (Chinese shoe company) for like $200M. Every summer he goes there to do bball camp & he said he’s treated like Michael Jackson lol
Funniest itw ever.
Makes me feel bad for Ty Lawson getting banned from Chinese basketball just for a social media post saying that Asian girls got cake (he was in a strip club at that time). As much as Chinese fans admire the NBA, it was a wake up call of the racism most civilians there had towards black people
Its more cultural than anything. China is a very restrictive society when it comes to sex. Nothing like Japan or Korea.
Tell black american to respect culture
The IRS is about to come a knocking...Lol
did he say tax-free?? get him!!
U aint lying
Are the earnings playing in China really tax free? I can see China not taxing the income, but the US?
2:10 Oh, buddy. you better see your CPA soon. "Tax-free" 🤣😂😂🤣
Lol american citizens still have to pay taxes on foreign income. I really hope he didn't just admit to tax fraud on a podcast
I freaking love this guy haha
Watch the Caucasian boy facial actions when these Bros tell how they treat us Brothers outside of our country.... Smh. #1 Hater.

Stephon marbury shared his experience there too. Think he won like 5 championships
Bro that’s not tax free
Thats why I can't believe Jeremy Lin didn't stay in Beijing, he's back in the G-league

I went to Beijing to study Chinese for 3 months. It’s a really cool place. People were awesome. If you give the culture a go, that appreciate it. Try speak a bit and eat the local food and they give you respect. Not like America, if you speak with a funny accent, you get mocked lol.
