Great info. New to fishing and i love all the knowledge and rig set ups. Thank you! Now hopefully I can get my daughter to catch one. She's why I got into fishing in the first place. Watching that smile when she catches little bass, blue gill and baby cats made me spend thousands on fishing gear. Lol I got hooked I guess you could say. Lol wish me luck!
Of all the channels out there (and ive seen a lot planning for my first Great Lakes tributary trip) this has to be the most informative and well presented. No nonsense and relaxed demeanor, I appreciate the channel.
You sir are a plethora of fishing knowledge. Heading out to Niagara river this weekend and you’ve simplified setups for the beginner! Appreciate your knowledge transfer where I can pass onto others … 🙌🏼
I downsized my braid to 20# jbraid grand this year and I have been loving it for bobber dogging. just barely thick enough to hold onto the bobber stops well but mends and casts like a dream compared to the 40# braid I have used in the past. Just found your channel and been loving it man!
Bought some spinners cant wait to use them at the coast next weekend. However, with the bead float setup for example, you have a half oz float would you match it with a half oz weight since the beads are lighter? Thank you man!
Good video and thank you. I still have confusion over the Oregon regulations concerning a 3-ft leader. The leader you have looks like it's more like maybe 5 ft. I'm talking about the fluorocarbon tied to the swivel that has the weight. So my question has to do with what is the definition of 3 ft leader. Where does the measurement of the 3 ft start from? Also as a former fly fishermen I used to fish for steelhead and I would have liters of 8 to 10 ft with a green butt skunk or some other fly tied on the end. Can you please clarify the Oregon regulations relative to leader? I've looked at many things and the more I look at the more confusing it is. Thank you
Thanks for watching! Sorry for any confusion. I’m sure it doesn’t help when I say 3ft but am using a longer leader for the demonstration. Oregon Regulations are 18”-36” for leader length. Leader length is the distance from your hook to the first swivel, which is where your weight is attached on this setup. When I fish beads, I am typically on that shorter side closer to 18 inches, that way the bead stays closer to the bottom where the fish are. Fly fishing is totally different, there are no weights or swivels and you’re tied directly to your mainline. So the typical fly fishing setup is totally legit. I hope that helps.
Thank You! It has been a while. Should be a busy year. I’m looking forward to it. Haha ya I have quite the assortment of fishing stuff going on. There’s stuff all over off camera too. A bunch of it is spinners and stuff that I make and sell on my website and a bunch was given to me. My buddies always say it looks like a fishing shop too. Thanks for the support 🤙 it’s much appreciated
@@AnglingAddictsPNW You're welcome. You are one of my favorite channels and seem to be getting even better. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing your setups, I'm always wondering what kind you are using when I'm watching. I'm starting my own channel and was wondering what kind of cameras and accessories you use. It looks like you are using three cams sometimes in the field. I'm going to at least get a GoPro to go with my phone cam.
haha thanks, I usually double check on something that could be mis pronounced before I jump on video and make an ass of myself.... not to say it doesn't or won't happen though
Thanks! And yes you can. I meant to cover that in the video. When I’m fishing a longer leader, I usually throw on a small split shot about every two feet
@@AnglingAddictsPNW great channel thank you I tryed the set up today but no luck but worked on mends and adjusting the shot patterns for depth …. Just learning so all your content is gold thank you very much
As a general rule you should match the weight to the weight of your float. I don't count the bead since it doesn't really weigh anything. But your float should be vertical while fishing. Sometimes Depending on the water or if I'm using jigs then I might use a weight that doesn't match my float but I always want the weight of my gear to match my float and this causes less resistance for the fish to pull it under.
It really depends on the flow and clarity. I’ve gone down to 24” in dirty water conditions and up to 4-5ft in super clear and low conditions. Most cases it’s about 36” ish
Only issue I have is tying tackle to braided line. I never do that. If it gets snagged you could end up having to cut your line leaving braided line in the water.

Good video, as always! I run a bigger bead above my bobber because I've had the ones that come in the packet get stuck in the top guide.

Outstanding!! Thank you.
Welcome back man. It has been a minute. Great vids. Guess who's shopping for beads tomorrow. LOL
Great video thanks for the info

Great info!!! What is the weight of the “p line dragon ball”?
Thanks!
Thanks, this was really helpful
Awesome! I’m glad it helps. Good luck out there 🎣
Hi- great video. I believe you mentioned that you had 40# braid line on the reel(?). What do you use for the leader? Mono? What weight? Thanks!

When you are fishing Barber & bead. Are you fishing suspended or are you supposed to let it drag on on the bottom. Thanks so much
Dude you look like that actor in training day. Anyway I reckon all beads and bobber should be clear more stealth in my world.🐊
Shot me in the ass Jake
Nice. You actually pronounced Gamakatsu properly. I don't know how many times I have heard it pronounced Gamagatsu.

thats a great set up and great video ...since im kinda new can i put some split shot on the line near the bead to get it down ?

Thanks!
Bro your hat game is always so strong, why not AAPNW hats in the shop?
Thanks bro❤
is the last week in october a good time for steel head?
Good video. But What weight bobber do you use usually? and the weight to match it?

Question, what's the length of your leader? Yours looks like 6 foot
You need to watch vids on float fishing in the UK, this is caveman style in comparison 😮
The first word in the title…. Beginners
But now you have me interested. I’ll have to check out some vids. I’m always interested to see different techniques around the globe.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW your fishing world would change big time. Europe has fresh water fishing nailed. Look up the world championships
Isn't your leader length , from the weight to hook limited to 36" in Oregon.?
Yes, in Oregon you are limited to 36”
@@AnglingAddictsPNW What size braid...20, 30, 50 lb?..and what other colors do you like? what about orange colored braid?
Thk u sir
What size weights for this setup?
Why not use a rubber bobber stop at the top? Why two different types of stops?
Whatever you want bud! He just showed both
Hot Chow!
What line is that and why?
Everything is bigger on the west coast. In the great lakes region, most use 8mm beads with size 8 hooks... 😂😂😂
Horrible setup.
Explain
Only issue I have is tying tackle to braided line. I never do that. If it gets snagged you could end up having to cut your line leaving braided line in the water.
First like first view first comment the trifecta
Haha Thanks!…. And congrats 🎉 there should be some cool perk for reaching the trifecta level
@@AnglingAddictsPNW I totally agree lol that sound legit to me hah
