Hi Nalf, as an American who has been living in Germany for 39 YEARS (!!), I really love your videos--it's so interesting to see how a newcomer experiences the country. Regarding the "fondue" at that American "Bargarten," I think the Swiss (inventors of fondue) would be offended by that offering, which was basically various pieces of bread etc. dipped in lukewarm cheese sauce. Not a real fondue... I see you are in Schwäbisch Hall, here in Baden Württemberg. Have you ever traveled a bit more south to "Konstanz am Bodensee" (Constance on Lake Constance)? When the corona situation is a bit better, you and your teammates should trake a trip down here. It's the most beautiful area in all of Germany, in my opinion. On good days, you can see all the way to the Alps in Switzerland and Austria. And the lake is absolutely enchanting.

Hi Nalf, deine Videos sind immer wieder schön anzusehen. 👍...ich wohne in Schleswig-Holstein, bei uns ist die Aussengastronomie wieder geöffnet, wir genießen es langsam zur Normalität wieder zurückkehren.
What you had was "Käsefondue", specifically. And it's actually more of Swiss origin, than of German. Or maybe we just credit the Swiss for it. "Fondue" alone is when you have a pot of hot oil at the table, with a flame underneath and you dunk in little strips of meat with long forks, and deep-fry the meat at the table for yourself. And the there is "Schokoladenfondue", where you dip various pieces of fresh fruit (often strawberries) into molten chocolate.😁
Fondue as you call it is what I had in downtown Seattle, at a place called The Melting Pot. You deep fry your own meat at the table, it was awesome. And then you get the other French options as well, after. Does such a thing exist in NRW Germany?
The saddest news for me is that we won't be able to travel to the US this year thanks to the pandemic. We have our 10th wedding anniversary this year and wanted to celebrate it again in Vegas.
I just sat through two 5 minute ads out of six in total... that was more Werbung than the video itself but - your welcome ;) and your videos are kind of worth it so...
Don’t be offended. It is in America and supposed to be for Americans. They hardly know the difference between the german speaking regions or countries in Europe. What am I saying? Most won’t even know where Europe is, let alone the german speaking parts of Europe.
@@RealConstructor I am not offended. They can offer whatever they want. I just found it hilarious. I am sure some Swiss people will be offended. They already get mad when Americans call Germany the land of chocolate.
When he said "if I get to 100k subs one day" I had to scroll down and was genuinely surprised that the counter is well below 500k. for some reason I always assumed he was well on his way to a million...
I am confused... "Bargarten"... I think they messed it up... :-) shouldn't it be "Biergarten"??? By the way; you are a really good ambassador for Schwäbisch Hall... :-)
Karsten Storch, you are correct. It should be "Biergarten". I think the restaurant was combining "Bar" and "Garten" to imply that it is a Bar and a Biergarten. IMO, the restaurant made a bad choice with that name.
Another suggestion for your German sweets addiction: You have to try Choclait Chips (by Nestlé). Especially the white chocolate version is so good. Don't know how that's not illegal. Ridiculously good. But very baaaad for your health of course.
You just had a little cheese fondue. Having a bigger one as your meal, you should drink neither beer nor water with it. Traditional you drink a dry white wine with some acidity or when nonalcoholic a mint tea. This is not to get a big blob of cheese in your stomach that is hard to digest. And tradition requests to take a shot of cherry brandy when reaching half-time.
Isn't the Kirsch supposed to go into the Fondue? ...and, correct me if I'm wrong, some form of punishment will be doled out if a person happens to drop their slice of bread in it. But then, that Fondue doesn't look right, it looks like Alfredo sauce...
@@annamo9354 In the traditional recipe, you have some Kirsch and white wine with a distinct acidity (the Swiss prefer Fendant from the Valais). And traditionally, you drink one shot of the same Kirsch when half of the Fondue is already eaten and the same white wine. To give it the right consistency, some starch is added to the fondue, which seems missing here. If the wine lacks acidity, some lemon juice helps out. Of course there is the punishment, when losing one's piece of bread in the Fondue, but mostly it is not as rough as to be thrown in the Lake of Geneva to drown, as stated in "Asterix in Switzerland". 😉
@@katertom Oh yes...1st time 5 whacks with a stick, 2nd time 10 whacks with a whip, and 3rd time... but thanks for the explanation. I'm just across the Alps from Switzerland, in Allgäu. We do Kässpätzle, or maybe Raclette. Pfiat di!
Nalf, I was watching you on the stairs and noticed you are pronating your left foot: it swings out and then back in again instead of just lifting up and coming down straight. You might want to get your coach or trainer to give you some help with that.
Even if restaurants (sadly) aren't open... most of them should offer take-out now! Like... if they want to survive.. :( But at least my city has proper take-out now, apart from bad pizza and worse pasta.

And Happy Birthday Mamanalf
My Mum's B'day too. She would have been 92.
Interesting video again, Nalf. Thanks
Happy birthday Nalf's mum
I was wondering what drone and camera for the drone do you use?
Thanks for update on October fest. So flippin sad 😥 😞 😢
Happy birthday to the mom of Nalf
Happy birthday to momma alfieri 🥳🥰
Always love he great scenery and the epic music you use.
Our greenhouse did not blow COMPLETELY away today in NRW so it's a good stormy day: )
Happy birthday to mum Nalf
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA NALF and good luck for the next fourty years :-)
The Canstatter Volksfest is still not cancelled so maybe… fingers crossed… and it is much closer to Schwäbisch Hall ;-)
Happy Birthday Mammalfieri ! 🥳🥳🥳
Life without Nalf is possible but not half as funny :). And HAPPY BIRTHDAY Nalf Mama
Bargarten makes sense though, it’s like a Biergarten but in a bar setting
Come to Karneval in Cologne next year. I'd be happy to show you around. 🍻
😂 Düsseldorf is the town for Carneval.
Munich Oktoberfest. The alternative is Cannstatter Wasen. Not yet cancelled. Let us visit the Wasen.
Happy Birthday Nalf's mom.
Happy birthday Mama Nalf!
you are a great person, thanks for sharing your life with us. Cheers me always up watching your videos. :)
Is this the Cody jacket? And you are using a drone? Is this retro video?
Happy birthday Mama 💐🎈
Subscribed for watching you climbing that tree.
is it bargarten and not biergarten because it is a bar (lots of liquor, not just beer)?
Bingo!
@@mojojim6458 i'm wondering why that didn't seem obvious to them?
@@mariaammirati6639 They were hungry and not able to think much. LOL
Happy Birthday to your Mom!
When I lived in Germany I never had fondue but while living in Switzerland I had it several times. It is a Swiss dish so not surprising.
What’s about the Stuttgart “Wasen”?
search for "Canstatter Wasen" then :)
The saddest news for me is that we won't be able to travel to the US this year thanks to the pandemic. We have our 10th wedding anniversary this year and wanted to celebrate it again in Vegas.
Happy birthday Ma Alfieri!
May the fourth be with you!
My wedding anniversary 😉
Fondue is a Swiss speciality 🇨🇭🧀😀

Next time pet the kitten :D
I just sat through two 5 minute ads out of six in total... that was more Werbung than the video itself but - your welcome ;) and your videos are kind of worth it so...
You are such a great guy. I like your videos. Keep it up.
So in the Bavarian Restaurant they serve Fondue - the national dish of Switzerland???
Nalf, your Mom is a taurus like me!? Greetings and Gratulations to Mummy! 💐🎂❤👋
Kinda depends if you correct for precession or not, star signs are way off the actual times where the sun is in the sign :P
That is what they call a fondue? Ok... Best wishes from Switzerland.
I was thinking the same. "Fondue? But ... thats Swiss. And looked weird!"
Happy birthday Mom. You did everything right with this one. 👍
I noticed that, too. You analyzed it much better than I could.
Even if restaurants (sadly) aren't open... most of them should offer take-out now!
Like... if they want to survive.. :(
But at least my city has proper take-out now, apart from bad pizza and worse pasta.

Greetings from a german blazers fan
We will move back to Seattle, we will visit our Family on Portland - we will find that Restaurant in Beaverton and I will judge their food too!
Did you try Otto & Anita's Schnitzelhaus as well?
On your advice, I watched the video of you and your mom. Cool - I love Bavaria!. But how did you get an Italian Passport? And does that allow you to play ball as an Italian? Without impacting the roster as a non-European? Just curious...
