The saddest part of this whole thing to me is that the woman who saved the whole lot… the other women hate her and think she was his “pet” and his favorite. I’ve seen docs of one of them talking about how much she hated her for sucking up and getting better treatment, when the survivor is weeping and saying “I did it all to get his trust so I could get help.” It’s just heartbreaking that she’s the ultimate victim that even the other victims have turned against.
I mean, she was already in his good graces when he deafened them because she snitched on them, I can’t imagine how that one felt. So it’s completely understandable. It bothered me and I wasn’t there.
Definitely the best!! I am following his channel from the very beginning and I wasn't surprised at all how fast he reached so many subs and respect within TC fans. His amazing unique story telling, great sarcastic and original humour and such a sweet personality really makes him the best TC creator on YT. I don't doubt that his podcast will have the same success.
I appreciate you noting that people with SPD aren't typically (99% of the time) violent. In fact, people with mental illness generally are 99% harmless. I myself have a diagnosis of SPD, caused by traumatic brain injury. I just tend to only go around my wife. Every time I go around people in general, well, as we can all attest - people carry problems, and I can't really afford any more problems. As to the elaborate fantasy world part - I play a shit ton of video games. I remember when the doctor put me on permanent disability - he asked what I would do if I didn't have to go out into the world each day. I said I would stay in my room, stay out of trouble, and never, never get bored. I haven't gotten bored yet. So I mean, that is much more the story of your typical SPD patient. It's not like we CAN"T form attached meaningful relationships. We can. I love my wife with all my heart, and she's simply my favorite person in the world. She gets me, and I get her. It's a miraculous thing, considering I don't really connect that well with many people. Point being - I do have a close personal relationship. Lots of SPD patients have a single significant other they connect with. SPD is also NOT schizophrenia. SPD is unfortunately named in a sense. What SPD means is simply that the outer personality doesn't really match up with what's going on inside. Me, for example - I get along famously with people in public. I can be the life of the party. I'm really outgoing, humorous, and I think I'm even a good moderator between others. BUT, the internal stress this is causing me when I do is nutso. I won't poop for 3 days, becoming constipated. I won't sleep for days - going over and over every little conversation that happened, or those that might happen . . . The outside world out there is harmful to ME, causes ME pain, and some very real symptoms. So I mean, thanks Mike, for throwing the nod in there to peaceful people with real problems who DON'T deal with them in some insane way that some piece of shit serial killer did. I always say there's good crazy and bad crazy, just as there is good sane and bad sane. It's about your heart and where that is at. Hell, I also endured a great deal of physical abuse from my drunk dad. That's how I got the brain injury. Every time, every beating, all I thought was how I would never, never turn out like that. And I didn't. There's a choice we all make, and that's that. And hell, even if someone is so freakin' insane that they're NOT in control of their actions? Well, their body still committed them, and so they are accountable. We are all accountable for what ourselves DO, and that is also that. It doesn't take away from the terror of this dude to note that his mental-illness was NOT an excuse - and on behalf of everyone struggling with real problems and NOT becoming a monster, thanks for the sidenote, that's all.
Your story is quite heartwarming to read after listening to such a disturbing case and I agree with you regarding the unfortunate name of SPD. I hope things continue going well for you.
Heidnik was the one who got me into working in law enforcement. I was 12 when the case broke. I wondered what happened to the victims of such horrible crimes. I worked as a detective and now I work as a victim advocate. Very rewarding in spite of the horrific circumstances my clients have experienced and will continue to endure.
Wow ! Impressive ! Wonderful name to go with that title, Detective Jack Stevens 😃 Thank you for your good work and for sharing it here with us. Stay blessed 🙏 🇧🇷💞🇧🇷
I love Mikes accent & sense of humour. The things he just randomly comes out with is brilliant. His approach to storytelling is hilarious a lot of the time. The man is a genius.
I so agree Heather ° I certainly hope Mike read your comment 🥰 he should know just how awesome he is and how much he brightens our lives just being MIKE ❤️

I can't watch this. It is too close to home. I was Sandra Lindsey's emergency social worker. I along with her local case manager reported her missing and followed up with the police. They did nothing. It was my first grown up job and when Heidnick was caught, I took time off to go home to New York so I could cry in mother's arms like a baby.

I lived in west Philly not very far from the McDonald's he frequented. One night my friend and I went there , the moment we got there an overwhelming feeling of loathing hit us both. It was a semi rough time in that area, we changed our minds and went elsewhere. It wasn't but a week later Gary got arrested. We always wonder if he wasn't there that night.
I heard someone talking about being locked up with him. He said that Gary would react killing the girls repeatedly. This freaked out the other inmates and the would try to drown out his voice any way they could.
I remember this as I lived in the area at the time. This was big news at the time.
Five star Mike"s at it again! My favorite without a doubt. Thanks Mike. Though your face and expressions are awesome, your podcasts are great as well... (without the magnetic face and stellar expressions)
Wow what a horrible bastard!

(this in response to end of latest upload on TC - wow - what twists & turns...) oh - so 'quiet' in here (228 comments - as opposed to 2,000 odd on newer TC channel
(oh is this... official, real? (MrBallan's podcast reloaded by at least 2 different people)... seems to be... ) if so, 👋( _waves_ ) & move love from Aotearoa/New Zealand - sorry Mike, keep meaning to listen to the podcast, so there are views, wait, no, LISTENS there - but so much easier to remember to listen here...)
MrBallen is so weird, I can't watch him. Love Mike tho
You did an excellent job on this case, especially considering how f*cked up it is. I hope your mental health is still intact after that research ❤
I was stationed in West Germany and would go to Landstuhl for some Dr visits. So crazy to know that he was once there. Freaky.
