Adductor Canal Block (Saphenous Nerve) // Ultrasound-Guided Demonstration

- Опубліковано 27 лип 2020
- We demonstrate how to perform an in-plane approach to regional block of the saphenous nerve at the adductor canal. We review key anatomy with overlays and show injection of local anesthetic in the fascial plane.
As Reddit user "anesthetica" observed, an increased angle is advised immediately prior to traversing the fascial layer to avoid inadvertent femoral artery puncture.
Equipment:
GE Logiq E Ultrasound Machine
22 G x 3 1/4' (80 mm) SonoPlex echogenic stimulating needle
Procedure performed by Gabrielle White-Dzuro, MD. Peer reviewed by David Hao, MD (@davidhaomd) and Raf Vazquez, MD (@RafMD1).
Music "Emerald City" by Stephen Campbell, MD.
Special thank you to Agung Semara Jaya for correcting our original muscle labels!

FA as a backstop is a recipe for vessel puncture, I would go more lateral then flatten out once you're in the correct plane
Excellent video!
Very nice informative, thank you
Very helpful
How to differentiate Vastus medialis & Adductors?
Why so close to F Artery ? Just curious? Could it be more lateral?
What about NVM? Were you concerned about blocking it?
Does this block result in neuritis often? What mistakes could be made to lead to neuritis?
Is this the right or left leg
Mind if I ask what needle was being used? Looks like a Pajunk SonoPlex II based on the image. If so, it would be great if you could list that under the equipment used since it helps with visualization.
Updated the equipment description!
@@PracticalAnesthesiaTechniques Thank you so much!
How long does it take to wear off
Depends on the medication used.
