It’s a Catch-22. With software, you can own vintage synths… but yes, I agree… after awhile, the tactile feedback just isn’t the same as clicking an old button, or twisting a knob. Some of the best controllers will take the edge off… but at the end of the day, I too prefer the real deal.

I agree. Some controllers work great for certain software too, but when it's too much mapping I end up resorting to the mouse.

Nice tip man, I did chuckle at the use of the term “vst” throughout for Mac plugins lol.

Thanks, is “vst” not correct? What would you say?

Just plugin, VST is the Windows format of plugins 🙂 I'm Mac only too, but maybe like me, you started out in Windows back in the day with Cubase and the sparse amount of Virtual Studio Instruments such as those in Reason etc. Mac format of 'VST' is 'AU' or Audio Unit@@GabeChurray

Interesting. I think of “vst” as a software instrument regardless of the platform (Mac/pc). I know AU is the native Mac format, but I think of this as a Logic thing. I use Ableton and all of my instruments are in the VST3 folder, so I guess that’s why I call them VST’s

I don’t know why the guy above was giving you shade, VST plug-ins are definitely Mac compatible. As you said, Audio Units are the other common plugin format on Macs, but you can get VST plug-ins that are either Mac or Windows compatible.

@@GabeChurray Sorry guys, no shade intended, I don't use Ableton so wasn't aware of that, I learned a thing today thank you 👍
