@@DieselDucyno problem that reminds me from Austin Texas I got to ride my second one in Austin, Texas and Marriott hotel in downtown if you ever go there you could ride the elevators that you get to see there and that’s where my dad lives

+Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 Can you go a single video without saying stuff like that!?!?!? Like you wanting Schindler PORT or Thyssnekrupp DSC and not OTIS CompassPlus!!?!?!? I understand you don't like it however things change and this mod was needed. the Westinghouse Selectomatics were vandalized badly, we're developing controller issues like random calls, and also, this is a VERY BUSY "Cathedral" that is more than 30 stories. Not to mention, since this is the cathedral of learning, students go here and they need a ride up to the top FAST so they aren't late for class

Floridian Elevators The only thing that catches my eye with Otis is the clearly visible emergency phone which is easy access for handicapped people that get stuck

Well I'm glad you got the old panels from the elevators instead of somebody else getting them or even them being thrown away and scraped in the garbage. I really think you're the one who deserves them after all! Now about those Otis Touch-Sensitive fixtures at the old Kaufmann's store especially the call stations on them... do you got any word on them?
When you going up you can hear the elevator pushing the individual floor limit switchs.

He was actually with that user, but either wasn’t on camera, or didn’t come with him to the Cathedral this time. Although I know he was on camera at some other buildings. He’s met Patrick both times he’s come to PGH.

HOLD ON!!! You said that the Cathedral Of Learning has or had an observation deck on it?! WOW!!! I sure hope they reopen it to the public someday! I didn't know they had an observation deck on it! I mean I think I knew a little about it just recently when I was on Google Earth. Nice photos too.

I think these elevators are kind of like the ones at 220 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg. Except, I think the plate is silver instead of black

Great job Andrew! I’m glad that the University bided for Otis rather than Schindler for this mod, even though PORT isn’t bad. Remember Andrew, they’re not just any Otis Compass, but Otis CompassPlus! BTW, was the O Car finished with modernization, or was it still in the process? It’s a real shame that I couldn’t meet you since I just happened to be out of town, because I actually live in Pittsburgh.

Kinda reminds me of the elevators at 220 Portage Ave in Winnipeg except it’s kinda like a Schindler Port where it doesn’t have a keypad if you know what I mean.

That was the last car to get done being modernized so at the time G was not in service.
This was an Amazing video! ANd I really like the Otis Compass. especially their chimes. THey are far more intresting than the KONE Polaris I have found around Stockholm.

They make fixtures for more generic companies and sometimes formerly Westinghouse and currently Schindler. They also make fixtures for Northern and Baxter and Sons elevators.

Otis Compass is the BEST, but none of them beats elevators A-E at the Westin St. Francis, with a VERY lovely view of Union Square, California.
Awesome mods, but they're seems a little bit slow for 36 floors IMO.

Actually car H and F do not serve all the floors but the ones across the hall do. There were several floors that elevator does not serve, however they still light up on the counter.

@@TechNerdNolan That has nothing to do w/ it. There's a Schindler MT that goes from "3" to "2." Also they've since removed those signs.

Not fond of the new system. The black plastic and silver plastic and touch screens feel pretty disrespectful to the building itself. Looks very out of place relative to the building itself, whereas the original button enclosure and wall plates fit the building much more nicely. Certainly the new system eases congestion, but is there any actual customization you can get such as face plates or different enclosures that actually match their surroundings better?

Yes, Westinghouse Selectomatic Mark IV w/ some rare VR fixtures. To find a video of what these looked like before, just search “elevator Cathedral”, & you should find something.

Whats the intro music name?
As much as the old Westinghouse elevators were nice with the vintage look and custom vandal resistant fixtures, I think the Otis elevators are much nicer, smoother, and more reliable. However, it would have been cool if they went with CJ Anderson fixtures, since this is a beautiful historic building, and for the complete elevator/building/machine room visit, maybe you can post them on April 21st.

Floridian Elevators If I were the Cathedral of Learning I would have personally stuck with a Schindler PORT with 6400NA fixture mod.
+Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 TBH I would rather take OTIS Compass any-day over Schindler PORT even though Schindler was the first company to come up with the destination dispatch system in the first place (It's true) before other companies took their ideas and ran with them. Although I don't think Innovation would look good in a historic building like this compared to CJ Anderson.

They really ought to have designed the cabs to look historic to match the character of the building, but that's my only gripe about what they did..
+Star City Elevators The Building is being renovated and many of the floors are complete updated with motion activated lighting and state of the are presentation rooms. Several of the floors look like a newer office building. This is a mixed use building between classrooms and offices. The floors 1-3 still have their character and have the historic value to it. while its a historic building they want to keep it up to date to compete with other schools. Thats why the elevators look so modern.
+patricknedz Yeah you tell him! I definitely like the new design of the cabs way better than the old look back when they were Selectomatic. Though I am gonna totally miss those rare Westinghouse Type-C VR fixtures but I'm glad I visited that place before they were totally gone.

+Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 These are no longer relay controlled. They has relay logic controllers when they were Westinghouse but now they are 100% computer based with OTIS' solid state microprocessor computer controllers with CompassPlus.
Floridian Elevators What Microprocessor means, if the elevator gets stuck, then after x amount of seconds, it will proceed to the next floor or nearest floor if inside the express zone. I hope this is true, I wouldn't want to be stuck in a Gen2 or Synergy for more than an hour.
