To anyone confused: color correction and color grading are two different things. Correction (whats done here) is correcting the color to make it look "real to life" or "correct." Grading is stylizing the image (not really shown here).
lol, the video is called " colour grading"
Sure is. But it's not really showing grading here
Not really a tutorial on advanced color grading. More like a walk through of FCP color features.
Exactly
bro... my knowledge has definitely improved since I've been watching your vids. Please keep em coming bro.... this VLOG I'm putting out tomorrow will be SO MUCH better than my last ones.... gives me more confidence!!
Really! Ahh that makes me so proud thank you for the nice comment! :D
Seriously man it helped me soo much... subscribe to me bro... Imma shout you out on my vlog that comes out today..... Thanks Alot bro.
yep, actually your tutorials are pretty good and with easy explanation. very helpful kingtutspro
You should always start by adjusting luma (exposure), first, then color, then saturation because adjusting luma last may affect your color balance. After adjusting luma, you may have to go back and make tweaks to your color/sats.
Luma is basically a measure of brightness, with Chroma being information about colour. When looking at the waveform scope, it's kinda like looking at a black and white image. It ignores colour information and just looks at the brightness instead, with 0 being black and 100 being your brightest highlights. Be aware that if you push areas of your waveform over 100 when grading, you are probably losing some fine detail in your highlights, as these areas are now over exposed.
Hey, I really like your videos and no offense, But I would hardly call it advanced color grading tutorial. And FCPX 10.3.1 is out..I was hoping your were going to do a Walking Dead type color grade when I saw the title..
This guy is a poser
Could you go over how to do the luma fade and matte fade transitions that Sam Kolder and a lot of videographers are using today. But with FCPX? And also maybe creating those transitions/fx in Motion as well?
I'm super-new to videography and invested in Final Cut Pro X. Your video helped me A LOT and brightened up the whole category of color grading!!
Thanks a lot!
Keep Chrispy
Thank you for all your tutorials, it made us improve a lot! keep up the good work! Cheers -Demis & Nancy-
man loveur tuts ive been watching it like 2 months my skills bruh, is so improved, i can colour grade now, thx my man
Dude, instead of dragging the color correction to the clips, just klick on the clip and hit command + 6 to bring up the color board immediately...
:-)
Colin Zenger That's way easier. Thanks
thanks bud!!! I can't wait to use these tips!!!!
a video about color finale in fcpx would be nice
Is there a way I can focus on certain section only when using Final Cut Pro?
Keep up the tuts man! Love the FCPX and AE videos!
Very helpful, simple and clearly explained. Thank you 😊
nice vid Tuts! You are the real mvp bro!
Great video, thanks for making it simple.
i really love ur tutorials bruh....keep grinding!!!
You did colour correction. Not so much of colour grading. Colour correction is getting the colour right. Colour grading is setting an overall look for the footage.
For example in the matrix, when they were in the matrix, the footage had a very green colour grade. As opposed to when they were in real life, and the colours were more natural.
Nice intro vid. I think you should explain the correct workflow too and that is start with Exposure. First make your blacks and whites look good and show correct in luma scope.
thank you so much there's so much i have learned here keeping creating more tutorial all is not in vain.
Put playhead on clip, press cmd+6, start correcting - Color Correction fx apply automatically.
Thank you, More videos on cool effect for music videos if possible.
So Helpful bro. You're an angel. Thank you so much!
Nice job! Thanks for sharing. What lens did you have on your 5d3? And do you know what aperture you were shooting at?
can't give a tutorial if you don't have a clue what you're talking about
Yo the intro is sick dog!!!!
Awesome tutorial very helpful thank you :)!
Can you make a video explaining how to remove video noise and grain please and thank you it would help me and a lot of others with this problem

yoooo sick channel bro! new sub here!
Dude.... is that the Utah state capitol? I live in Utah too. That's sick!
It sure is!!
TravelHungry Hi from Utah too!
Thanks for all these amazing tutorials! When I go to the colour board, I don't have the Shadow mid and highlights chart with the reading number below. Any idea how to make them show up?
I have a question. I would like to continue with videography in life, but I have a Late 2013 13-inch MacBook Pro Base model, bought it Cert Refurb from Apple 2 years ago. So I can keep and continue to use Final Cut Pro X and since I have bought it already, what would you recommend me upgrade to if I were to pick one of the newer MacBook Pros? I want to do work in Final Cut, Photoshop, and other Adobe Applications and I want to persist in using a Mac, but I don't know what I should get, I don't think I would need many ports, since I don't own a camera and I just use my iPhone 6S Plus to record. Basically, I'm asking do you think that something like 8GB of RAM is fine or do I need 16GB, do I need a quad-core processor or am I fine with a Dual-Core? I want it to last a long time, but I don't want to spend terribly too much. I can get a student discount on it as both my parents go to College, and my High School is on the list of eligibility in Apple's educational discount program. Can you recommend me something as I am not sure what resources Final Cut Pro X needs to edit the most fluidly.
Thank you very much!!
Tutorial starts at 5:50
Can you do more tutorials on Premiere Pro, please?
Make one on best plugin effects to use either free or paid for
question, if you don't drag the color correction effect onto the timeline does it negate the color board settings you made.
Just fyi, there is NO "Workspace" option under Window. Not sure what version of FCP you have but mine doesn't. Version 10.3.1
how did you enable that live preview of the film (the red line while running over the timeline)?
how does nadeshot or Justin Escalona color grade, bc their videos have a lot of cc
The color grading options are so limited compared to Premiere Pro :(
My version of FCPX doesn't have the workspaces tab anywhere in the program. Weird.
Why are thee two different final cut pro x ??? Or am i missing something? Cuz for most people when they to tutorials their setup snd the way the top right corner looks different. Mine looks the same as this one but when i look up FCPX tutorials it mostly the other one... can someone explain what im not understanding/missing? Thanks
It's what he is saying in the first 1:30 minute. This is FCPX 10.3 which were released last fall.
Can you make a video on how to compress video without losing too much quality
Bro, which is the last version of FCPX? I'm using 10.1.4, but your fcpx looks like a new version!
Loro Negro 10.3.1. Upgrade. Lots of cool new features
what was the name of that christmas song at the start?
what song is that in the intro
Ronettes - Sleigh Bells (PhatCap! Trap Remix) Just in Case you didn't see it.
do you color c befor or after apply luts?
how about a premier tutorial??
i have FCP X 10.2.3 & i cant fine " workspaces " in windows .. any ideas hot to find it guys ?
where is this prom vid?
Whats the location of the clip? :D
Can FCP track shape mask like davinci resolve
Great 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you Nia!
Thats no color grading, it like adding split toning but cant blame you because FCP doesn't even have any colour grading in it unless you install plugins.
What? , Canon Mark 3? , You Meant 5D Mark 3?
What the heck is a Canon Mark III? Canon doesn't sell a mark III
Oops I meant the Canon EOS 5D Mark III lol
Come on LzysGraphics, you are not that Lazy! It's a video editing tutorial, everyone knows Canon 5D Mark III
Final Cut Pro or adobe premiere cc? Hmmm? Anyone?
Is it ok if i use macbook air?
Baking Gains Yup. If it can't keep up, just make proxy media for your files. Although for colour grading, I would not recommend using it
This is not a color-correction/grading tutorial at all. It just showed where all the controls are. You said you didn’t know what the waveform was for. It’s one of the main scopes used. I would not recommend this video as a tutorial in colour correction.
Good...not well. Well is an adverb, and should be used when you are talking about your wellbeing or whenever you are describing a verb. Saying the lighting is "well" in the building doesn't make sense. The lighting is good in the building. Other than that though, great video man! xD
You're right. Thanks for the correction :D
Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead....stop saying go ahead!
Intro song?
Ronettes - Sleigh Bells (PhatCap! Trap Remix)
***** Thanks a lot!
dislike for recording tutorials on a saturday night
I don't want to learn how to colorgrade from someone who don't know what luma is :D LOL
Advanced?
This is color correction, not color grading.
what you are doing in this video is color correction not color grading
Why are you teaching us advanced color grading if you say you're not a professional and "not really into that color grading game?"
Advanced.. more like Color correction for beginners
1:47 is way too long of an intro dude
spoiler: watch another video, this one has no info on color grading.... he even named it: Advanced Color Grading... nothing advanced, he just discovered fcpx
i will show u guys, i will show u guys??? just do it already! 5 minutes in and u didnt show anything yet, just a presentation of scopes, wtf???
Not advanced if you have to explain every single thing..
Awesome video but not advanced at all...
You Talk Too Much Bro... Unnecessary Chatter!
