I stayed in the Peabody Hotel in 2019 and got a big hoot out of seeing the ducks and ducklings march to and from their fountain after breakfast time! Lovely hotel and even better tradition caring for our duck friends!

About 30 years ago...i took my then girlfriend to memphis to see graceland as she was an elvis nut. We stayed at the peabody. The ducks were great, and the hotels location near Beale Street was convenient. Overall, it was a fun experience. Excellent bbq and live music.

The ducks are raised by a local farmer and friend of the hotel. They only live at the hotel for 3 months before retiring back to the farm where they continue their lives as wild ducks while being replaced with a fresh batch.

It's an old-style luxury hotel. They have traditions. I bet you he's not the first duck keeper to be eccentric.
Most animal owners speak to their animals. It's completely natural. It doesn't really matter if they listen or not. But these ducks are clearly trained, so some sort of listening is being done.

It’s the fact that he is doing it in a goofy and cringeful way in front of a huge audience along with the gestures. I’m assuming you agree with this because you are someone who acts like him.
The sole definition of cringe is extremely embarrassing acts that make it hard to watch. Considering I have a few upvotes, safe to say a few people agree with me in that assertion.
