High Tension was the last gig I went to before the COVID shitstorm happened. I caught them at the now closed down Crowbar in Brisbane and even though the gig only went for an hour the sheer ferocity of that gig blew my mind. I was already interested in them but that gig forever sealed my fate. I’ll never forget it.

That track was flatout awesome, love the sound. Ya know it can get really samey being growled at by male vocals in 97% of metal so when a chick fronted metal band enters the scene ya always gotta check that shit out. It's bitchin to see girls throw down as hard as the lads.

The Australian music scene for you. We have some extremely amazing metal/punk bands, but they get little exposure here and 0 overseas. Trying to play music in Australia can be extremely frustrating and is generally an up hill battle.
Add the cost of touring when in a country so big and with such small population density, as well as being the literal other side of the world to the rest of the western music market, you're shit out of luck and broke.
@@musicointempero2256 makes me wonder if there are any funds/donations for upcoming bands. Organizations that raise money to get bands that are not able to travel on their own expenses so they could pitch in and spread it out. Honestly the music is so good, but concerts make venues money and venues need popular people so it's a win win. You get popular artists you couldn't book before, and venues will sell. Funding can go to ad's, which is more revenue. Idk what am I saying, I just love music and the support that goes into it. Wish I could help out more.
@@crazychristina9514 yeah, makes sense. I know some use crowd sourcing at times, but I bet it feels weird asking fans to fund your tour, then also asking them to buy tickets as well.
The government in Victoria only made it harder when they changed the law that any live music event, even if 0 people come, you still have to have a security guard. It used to only be over 50 people that you required security.
That made a lot of smaller venues stop hosting live music, because they had to pay a nights security wage, with no guarantee smaller bands would bring enough of a crowd to cover the security wage in bar sales. Venues started saying they expect a certain amount of people if they will host the gig and the security wage often then came out of the money they used to pay the band. Other venues just stopped doing live music to avoid paying for security.
It made it way harder to get gigs while starting up. Happened to the band I was in years back.
