- The FMS itself is not a predictor of injury. But when combined with several other variables, we can begin to categorize individuals in “high risk” and “low risk” buckets.
In this Whiteboard talk, Dr. Kyle Kiesel discusses the evolution of research involving the FMS - from where we began to what we know now - and how we can use this information to lower the risk of injury.
I'm certified level 2 FMS and level 1 SFMA, is there a resource I can access that will allow me to use the metrics described in this video to gauge my athletes' risk for injury?
Jorga, most of the metrics used are included in the studies. Can you tell me specifically what you are after and we will try help you as much as we can.
You mention that in a military study, there were a body of 86 questions and 29 movements; the data from which gave you predictors for injury. I'm wondering where (or if) I can find this screening information. (Not the data as much as the questions/movements.)
Hi, Jorga -- you may find the article that accompanies this video helpful. Thank you for reaching out to us! www.functionalmovement.com/Articles/766/the_fms_and_injury_prediction
Thanks! That looks helpful.
Can you please upload a link to all your studies you mentioned in your video?
