- Hot dog profit - to calculate a fair and profitable price, you need to know the expenses, including incidentals like propane, napkins, squirts of mustard, etc. I'll explain how to figure all that out so you can make a good decision on pricing. Get more info at learnhotdogs.c...
Ben, father of 10, bankrupt, homeless and on food stamps made over $8000 his first month in a little po-dunk town in East TN. with a broke down hot dog cart. He’s gone on to help over 16,000 vendors gain freedom with catering, hot dog carts and street food: vendorsunited....
youtube channels like this are honestly amazing. A decade or two ago it would be so difficult to get the first hand knowledge and game from people as directly as this. There are many channels like this dealing with such a diversity of topics some even extremely obscure and to have a window into that world at your own leisure is truly a miracle of humanity and science.
Thank you so much! 😊
Should have showed me this in high school instead of trig. Real math , real business , real money .
If they did that College wouldn't be a big business......
I love this guy. He makes learning about this fun and simple. Thank you for these videos. Thank you thank you thank you.
My pleasure! Thank you Larsen!
Something else I figure into my price is FLIP, license, and permits. At 32% total cost on a $2.00 dog. Thanks for posting brother! We appreciate you!
What is the annual cost of flip insurance for a hotdog cart?
I pay 300 a year for dry spice blends
THANK YOU. The way you broke down your costs allows easy calculations for number of servings per container size. It then becomes easy to calculate MY serving costs should my prices differ from those you have provided. AGAIN THANK YOU.
You are so welcome!
How do you know how many people per day? What is the average amount of sales you would expect?
Hey. Hope you’re doing well friend. Stay healthy bud, love your videos
Really enjoy your videos. Then you got to pay taxes on the money you earn. I vend in Idaho and have to pay taxes to the state tax commission on my sales. ( as I'm sure everybody has two everywhere) $100 I make I have to pay 12 dollars in taxes 100-12 ( roughly ) is 88 left then food, propane, and other expenses. So there are a lot of other expenses. That's why I enjoy your videos.....your on point and upfront. Listen to this man he is a great guy and helps you better understand the reality of the vending business.
😁😁😁 Thank you Marc!!!
Hello and thank you for all the videos are trully informative .
What is the avarage brand of hot dogs to sell ?
Thank you
Here something else
I do say my gross sale is 400.
1 I take 8%for state sales tax,2 10% out for future cart repairs, 5% for future car repairs,.5.00 for following year permits.
Then cost of goods etc
What left over is my net
Smart David! Thank you for sharing.
Lmfao!!!!!!! The equation explanation was epic!!!!!
Fixing to get a cart from you. My meals will be $5.00 for 1 dog chips and drink. Separate,,, dog $3.00 ... chips for $1.00 .... $2.00 for soda.. I think that's more than reasonable here in Corpus Christi tx. Of course the dogs will be chicken pecker mix in dirty water.. lol. I appreciate all the help. Looking forward to getting started.
Keep me posted Vince!
😆 LOL
Chickin Pecker Mix
That’s so cool
I used to do foil packs but I cut my cost and just started handing it to them with two napkins
Thanks believe it or not
I been getting my propane for a little under 12.00.
That their whole sale price
There regular price is under 15.00 .the are for
Refills not switchros
What a great deal!
So excited to get this going
I'm excited for you!
Hey! Where do I find the work sheet
Do major manufacturers like Vienna beef hot dogs provide a wholesale price to vendors? You see Vienna being sold by amazon etc. Can a vendor buy directly from any manufacturer at a reduced price?
Yes... you'll find that and more at learnhotdogs.com
You know you can sell a premium 8inch sausage in a brioche roll with chilli con Carnie, melted cheese and soured cream in London for £18, ohhhh that comes with fries skin on and tub of slaw and a pick of sauce in tub
Nice!
I am unclear how many children you had when you started the hotdog business. I have read you had five then in a video you said five and four and in another reading it was ten. You appear to be a very honest person so this is confusing. Thank you for your hard work. We will be opening a stand this spring.
Bernal Diaz
After three kids, it gets confusing for most men.... When coming home from work I call the first child I see my “favorite child,” any child I see after that gets called “other child.” On most days there are three others that I notice, but I do see as many as eight others on some days, some of those may be repeats, nephews, nieces, or hallucinations.... honestly, if you want to know how many kids I have, you’d have to ask their mother..... don’t tell her I didn’t know how many there are...
Depreciation of assets is huge if all of a sudden you’ve been selling dogs for 7 years and you haven’t added the cost of a new cart, well you are shit outta luck
After all this I'm seeing my price pet dog at one billion dollars
Great video thanks for all you do
And rent and taxes?
😂😂😂😂😂😂 scared the piss out of me!
Jeebus....what is your target market? Backward Arkansas?
Toophless1 LoL jeebus LoL
The first sign represents a Sum and the second, an Integer
Thanks Ben. #respect
You're welcome Brian!
Hahaha the math equation you are the best!
Do you sell your drinks in cans, plastic bottles,, cups? Water Is in a bottle but what about things like soda and lemonade?
Cans. See www.learnhotdogs.com for step by step videos on operations, free.
ON A WEEKEND WHEN IT IS HOT WE WILL GO THROUGH A HUNDRED DOLLARS WORTH OF ICE
Why? We only use ice for drinks and we line the coolers with freezer gel packs (commercial ones). This saves tons of ice. :)
That's plenty.
You're videos are great, appreciate them.
Thank you.
Would you recommend the “Hot Dog University” in Chicago?
Joint venture
Geez, this guy is long winded.
That's why I sped up the video twice the speed. He actually sounds like he's talking like a normal person when you do that
Reminds me of the old story about the man who always had to build the clock before he could tell you the time. This video could have been done in three minutes. I like starting these videos but I'm so worn out with all the anecdotes and jokes by the time he finally gets to the point that I've forgotten what the question is.
I agree. his videos are to long I don't think I've ever watched a full one.
Wondering what the post covid outta control inflation price for a hotdog is😂
Higher... like everything.. yet vendors are making more profits.
I've done a couple videos on "why".
I'd rather sell 90 $10 hot dogs than 450 $2 hot 🌭
My limit would be 5 for a super fancy, 2 for a simple classic...
BEN WHERE CAN I CATCH YOUR LIVE STREAM AT
Fb.me/Benshotdogcarts
😂 that formula
Good video
Thanks for watching and commenting Brian! I really appreciate that you'd take the time. 😊
38% top end as a gross profit ... are you mad , going into business requires 65 bottom end , including cost, waste, staff, etc.. uk looks at 70% bottom end. My question is this how do you vendors survive on only top end 38%gp? That’s insanity
Ummmmm I think you misunderstood.
Scared hell lol I'm intrigued
Don't be.
@@BensCarts I sent you a message through fb messenger hopefully I'll get your friend request!
17 minutes to get to 30%
want to listen to what you got to say, but you take to long to may your point/ long winded !!! time is money!!!
⌚Time is money 💰💯
shaddap
Divided by 'pie' cherry or blueberry 🤣🤣🤣🤣
LMAO 🍋🍋🍋🌭🌭🌭
You clearly are confusing calculus with Algebra.
Or someone is confusing sarcasm with hot dog reality.
Hot dog market is over saturated and many people dont like hot dogs
You would be better off choosing a type of food say like cheesesteaks for example because you can have different meats. Tacos work the same you can get beef, chicken and a lot of times seafood and vegetarian options. Hotdogs sort of alienate everyone who is health conscious. If you can be healthy and delicious thats the goal imo
Miss $2 dogs
robot "M" lol
Ha ha funny. I hate math too
Your formula didn't account for Biden's America. Pump those numbers up.
I thought the same thing. Nowadays the cost of making a hotdog is probably close to $2, including the actual hotdog, bun, condiments, wrapper, propane, ice, etc.
You need to sell your hotdogs for at least $5 to make $3 profit per hotdog. If you have a decent location with traffic and could sell 200 hotdogs per shift, it would be ok.
Dude you talk to much!!! Dam!
🤪😂
Skip all the pointless physics calculations and blathering...
talks too much, get to the point
WOW your math is so bad dude!!! 4x80=360 not 200 so how can 80 be 40 percent of 200??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
4 x 80 = 320. The 40% of 320 it is 128. If 40 is the 40% of 100 then, 80 it is the 40% of 200. So the one really bad at Mathematics it is you. Practice more, will be really useful.
@@EtoDemerzel its that he is using this method to calculate cost and not profit like it says
like $1 in and $2 out would be 200% profit
I am thinking off opening a hotdog business ...😊 looking for somebody to follow up for info and thanks so much for it ❤
Gotcha covered... learnhotdogs.com step by step videos
