I didn't have the money to buy a hot dog cart at first. I literally bought myself a Blackstone griddle from Walmart got a propane tank some buns some hotdogs ketchup mustard and relish and started selling hot dogs. All together I hade a start up investment of 500.00 dollars and I made 6 thousand dollars in a few short weeks. I love how you touch on this subject and on vending.

My son n law and I are going to start a hot dog business because I noticed when I moved here 2 month's ago that there were no hot dog carts here. There are 3 city's in the immediate area and no hot dog carts. I'm 3xcited about the possibilities. There was a car show in one of towns. No hotdog carts. I've a lot of ideas from watching u. I tried getting ur book"How hot dogs saved my life" and the bonus ebook but the payment kept saying submitting but never did. It was 19.95 and the ebook was $6.95 ( believed they we're the prices)I looked on Amazon for ur book and the price was $127. That's a bite much for me but I'll keep watching u.
I want to get a little 7 by 12 food trailer because I live in part of the country where it is cold windy and rainy most of the year. and use it for hot dogs. These trailers and to be all coded is not cheap whatsoever. Even for a very very basic basic steamer pan and table operation. I built my own booth for my own business selling homemade gourmet food products that are Cottage Food approved - I make "HORSE PATTIES" (peppermint patties homemade),Horse cake pops , coco bombs, apple cider bombs, Texas style BBQ sauce in 3 flavors : "ACE IN THE HOLE" (SWEET), "GITTY-UP" (MILD) , " HOT TO TROT" ( HOT) , and gourmet salts: lemon, lime, orange, or rosemary - all products are infused with CBD that is THC free. Hey Big Ben. Any advice on converting a 1993 "Hornet" 21 ft camper int a hot dog /waffle fries cart? Someone is selling one for $12,000. Only 61, 000 miles on it and it rund nice. Hey Big Ben! I just talked with my Walmart store manager about a hot dog cart in front of Walmart. But he told me he never never heard of a single instance in which a hot dog vendor was in front of a Walmart store. He won't even look into this for me. I've been a full time cashier for 17 years for Walmart and I want to vend!!!! How? There seems to be not a single case of this. I'm in upstate New York. I mean forget being a permanent HD Vendor he never even seen a HD vendor in front of a Walmart store for even 20 minutes. Any advice? Even the flea market I go to to sell vintage jeans won't accept a hot dog cart. :(

Hey Big Ben. But what if you already have a cart-And it stops you? My Big Dog Cart can't seem to handle the least amount of wind. I had to leave Tractor Supply today because I could not light the pilot light to my burners. I tried for a full hour and a half.
Ian, I've had wind problems too. Use a wind shield of sorts. You'll see we've done videos on that too. Some in VU have to keep them all the time due to wind.

Sure you can. The problem though... most electric steamers don't have enough power to steam quickly and are basically used to warm rather than cook with steam.

I have a challenge for you concerning your statement that anyone can get started regardless of circumstances. I'm a very positive person but I just haven't been able to figure out a way to do it. I'm disabled and require a walker to get around (although standing isn't a big problem), I don't own a car, nor can I afford one, I live in the most poverty stricken section of town so I can't expect sales in my neighborhood and, while waiting on S. S. to approve my disability claim, I have no income. I live off of Food Stamps and literally have to use free napkins for toilet paper. Last obstacle: I live in a free apartment where management is so strict they wouldn't allow me keep a few boxes for shipping purposes when I attempted to start an eBay business last Summer. They say two heads are better than one, so I'm hoping maybe you can think of something that has eluded me. Any feedback at all would be appreciated.
HI Jim, yes you do offer me a challenge. But here's the thing... "management" can't infringe upon your Federally protected rights... specifically you're right to work. Preventing you from having boxes in your own apartment that are required for the legal work you do would violate your rights. I'm no lawyer but a call to the Institute for Justice could probably set you free. Also, please look at / into The Cottage Industry act for your state. This allows you to prepare some foods from home for commercial sales.
