Good luck on finding the original car that motor came out of. Maybe got swapped in for the original motor when the original failed.

That is a possible scenario, but seems unlikely since the 331 engine vin is a lower number than the Cadillac vin, indicating the engine was produced prior to this car being produced. I'm not sure how that would be possible, unless some Cadillac engines were made specifically to be donor engines early in the 1949 production run. Not likely, in my opinion. I'm hoping for someone to chime in with more info about it.

@@ClassicNation the guy who sold you the car thought it was the original motor. So it was swapped before he got the car. How often does people go too the junkyard and get a used motor when the one the had went bad? People wrecked cars even back then.

Yes, that is most likely what happened. But - there is a chance that the donor vehicle that got wrecked, abandoned, etc, has since been restored and back on the road? We'll see.

At this time your video is 11 months old. Have you located the original car for that motor yet?

I remember back in the early 2000’s my uncle got a 70’s Cadillac and it ended up having a motor from a boat that someone swapped at one point. I wish cars could talk a lot of them would have such wild stories. I hope you find your original engine👍
