My question is the furniture, do I need to cover them and wash them? I have wood floors no carpet. And do I need to put all bedding away? Will it be safe if my dogs sleep on their dog beds after ?

I say this as the owner of a pest control company for over 15 years. Flea bombs, or any pest control bombs are extremely dangerous. There is no way to control where the mist that is released ends up. He is correct that the pesticide will cover the furniture and carpets, but it also covers counter tops, towels, dishes (yes, the mist can infiltrate cupboards), essentially anywhere in your home. So, as simple as he makes this sound, think about coming home, turning the AC back on and having a seat to watch some TV. You are now sitting in pesticide. It is now all over every surface in your home. The best way to control fleas in the home is to stop them at the source. If you have pets, even if they are "inside" pets, they can contract fleas. The best way to stop the infestation is via flea gel (or possibly the new "chews" that are on the market. I have not had any experience with them yet, so no comment). The best flea gel is one that contains the chemical "fipronil". Treat your pet according to the directions. Do not exceed the dosage and you will get almost immediate results. If you want to rid the home of fleas, it will take some work. This means laundering all cloth areas that your pet has access to. Sheets, pillow cases, towels, pet beds, blankets, furniture (couches, chairs etc.) will either need to be washed and dried on a high heat dryer setting, or in the case of carpets and furniture vacuuming the areas very thoroughly at least once a day (twice is preferable) for a week. As for these bombs supposedly killing flea eggs, they don't, regardless of what others may say. They are the supposed easy way out, but again are dangerous and do not work nearly as well as treating the source and addressing the fleas and eggs in the carpet and on the furniture. A bit wordy, but this is the advice I give every customer who calls about fleas. If the house is infested and there are no pets, then there is an animal living somewhere under or in the attic of the building. Usually a raccoon, squirrel, rat, mouse, pack rat, etc., Once located they will be found to be heavily infested with fleas. Remember, without a source of food ( a blood meal) fleas won't stay around. Once the offending animal has been removed or treated for fleas, the problem should be solved. You will also have to keep treating your domestic pets according to the instructions on the label. Good luck!

Yes, yes it will. Absolutely, positively they will affect you, especially given the situation where they are basically being applied directly to your body without even attempting to protect yourself. You brush this off as simply "...sitting in some...". Chemicals should be treated with the respect they require. They are dangerous and I made a living, a good one, applying them responsibly and correctly. The method described in this video is neither of those......

I just moved to a new apartment and the girls animals were infested with fleas but now that she and her pets are gone, she has left behind a house full of fleas so there is no “ main source” anymore and for me and I am constantly getting bit by them so since i am using the fogger can I not just wash everything?

How long have they been gone? If the infestation was severe, there will be a ton of eggs left behind, eggs which will sit quietly waiting for some sort of vibration to prompt them to hatch and look for a blood meal from what they perceive to be a dinner source. That would be you. Simply walking through a carpeted room that has eggs in the fibers will cause this to happen. The eggs will sit for six months or longer if not disturbed. If the apartment is vacant, or nearly so, your best friend(s) at this point are your vacuum cleaner and the washer and dryer. Wash anything that you can and dry it on as high a heat temperature as it will tolerate. Things like throw rugs, cushion covers, pillow covers, anything that can be safely washed and dried without damaging it should be done. Next, go to the hardware store and (this is my personal preference) get a nice big container of pet flea/tick/etc. powder. You can also buy liquid spray that you can spray on the following surfaces. Carpets, hardwood floors, tile floors (unless there are cracks in the tile, you can concentrate on the edges by walls, cabinets, etc. and the spaces between hardwoods on floors, even though they don't look as if they can, will harbor fleas and their eggs.) So, either powder or spray the first day, give the product a few hours to work and then vacuum the entire place as thoroughly as possible. This would include any furniture that might be present. You should see an immediate improvement, but you have to follow through with the rest or they will keep popping up. You then have to vacuum every day for a week, again as thoroughly as possible but you don't need to dust or spray. On the 7th day, repeat the dust/spray, let it work and vacuum again. If you have washed and dried everything you can, have treated and vacuumed as I stated, this should put an end to the problem. Of course, if you have any pets (I get the impression you don't) they need to be treated with the high quality gel that I mentioned previously. I also hear good things about the chews that are out now. They work as well and don't require putting the messy gel on the pet. Again, the key to this is washing/drying, treating the floors and vacuuming thoroughly every day. It's a bit of a pain in the butt, but you can avoid the danger that comes with flea/bug bombs. I have had to do this myself and even though I didn't like having too, once the fleas were gone, the nightmare was over. I hated having 50 or so itchy bites on my feet and calves every day.

Thanks to your 20+ years of experience in the field, I'm sure you are "....perfectly fine..". (Oh, wait, that's me, not you). Do you have any idea how much of the odorless, colorless pesticide you absorbed while "...sitting in it.."? Please tell me this is a crank post. No one is that unintelligent. You are joking, correct??? I gave advice on how to do this without polluting your body with more chemicals, but hey, we live in a chemical world, so what's one more heavy dose of pesticides, right???? Good God help you.....

      You're a misinformed goon.
"Flea bombs use chemicals that kill fleas, and some also kill flea eggs. Ones that also kill eggs can completely eliminate an infestation with a single treatment. Most foggers use the following active ingredients to kill these pests: Pyrethrin."
