All sci-fi movies should be made like this. The heartful attention to detail in the creation of the miniatures is why these movies will stand the test of time and turds like Transformers and Avatar will be forgotten about. A movie set should be built by hand, not rendered through the cold emotionless world of CGI
While I agree that practical effects are better, saying that CGI is "cold" and "emotionless" is just pure nonsense. CG effects did give us great things that would be either too difficult or impossible to do with practical effects. But I do think that CGI should be used only when its necessary.
